Straying too far to one side is usually never a good choice because that leads to extremism and fundamentalism. There were only deaths from cancer, and that can be caused by many different things. And alcohol brewers/distillers/distributor­s never claimed that getting drunk was good for you (on the contrary, alcohol when used in responsible moderation actually has some mild health benefits). Tobacco companies, on the other hand, deliberately covered up the truth about their products and once actually had doctors promoting their cigarettes even though tobacco has absolutely no health benefits to speak of, and can only do harm.

Yes...it can...however, this is typically general in children as their immune systems are undeveloped. in order to cause cancer, you have to breathe secondhand smoke for at least thirty minutes at a time. It should be against the law to smoke in public where second hand is unavoidable because it simply infringes on the rights of others.
