Sidenote, im sure many who watch your show of similar age to yourself went through high school talking about Monty Python,For me and my friends it was Red Dwarf in my 4 Art Classes a week, !Fun Times!
While im overjoyed that Red Dwarf didnt become a reality.I must confess that i laughed at two jokes from the Pilot shown on that documentary
Kryten telling Lister that he's Been reading a sign for Millions of years. Plus Listers saying that his Baseball Cards must be worth a fortune after discovering how long he has been in stasis.
I shudder to think of the awesomeness we would have missed had the American show been picked up.Season 8 is my 3rd fav series after the first 2 series
since you did this vid you probably have heard by now that they did release the series 123 re-masted on dvd, i THINK it is called the bodysnatcher collection, but i am not sure.
@Zaranyzerak I decided to go back and rewatch some of my red dwarf collection after watching your vid and decided to stick the bodysnatcher collection in for series 1-3. Mainly because I felt guilty about not really wathing any of I when I first got the set.
You should seriously consider getting it when it is back in print(alot of titles are out of print in the UK due to the london riots) just for the extras which are top notch with the bodysnatcher lost episode and a ton more.
First time i have come cross an American have the Red Dwarf collection. I laughed at the fact yu said Citizens of the U.K. ,ol or England whatever you said, lol. This was intresting
I Always Look Forward To Your Videos Sean And This One Is A No Brainer For Me. I Love Red Dwarf I'm Actually Going To One Of The Studio Recordings In A Few Weeks Time Can't Wait. I've Been A Dwarfer For Over 10 Years Now, I Have All The Collection And A Few T-shirts And I See You Have The Same Infinity With Me Us Boys From The Dwarf Have Got To Stick Together Haha. Nice Video Again Dude !!
Sorry to hear your unwell. I got a special edition of series 8, that had a droid, red dwarf, and a starbug. I don't think this was/is/or will be a series 9 (as that was a proposed movie) but the re-mastered series 1-3 has been released as the "body snatchers" collection.
Life on mars, doctor who, the prisoner, blake's 7, fades, misfits, being human, black adder.
I love living in Britain. Good shows, no adverts, and great radio stations.
sorry I removed my comment about the cards... I think you are correct.. it is only seasons Four and up... I'll double check mine to be sure :) BTW.. you are correct.. RED DWARF KICKS BUTT! and the cooking show one is halarious! It was a great extra they did on another british show and it was worth the time to watch it all! :)
@Painkiller531 About the cards, I believe I read that they came about when a feature on the UK DVDs couldn't be brought over to Region 1 due to copyright issues. It was a Red Dwarf drinking video to Chumbawumba's "Tubthumping." So the cards were created to make up for it.
I love Red Dwarf, but I've yet to pick them up on DVD. There are some pretty cheap series 1-8 boxsets in the UK, but I'll be avoiding them like the plague as they are "Just the shows" sets. Going via Amazon UK the individual 2 & 3 disc series sets aren't that expensive, so that's the route I'll take in January. Tempted to order them all now, but DVD/Blu funds have been diverted to xmas shopping.
Although I suppose I could get the collection started with the first 2 or 3 sets... :p
Zaran, I am curious about something. Knowing your sci fi tastes with this and The Starlost, have you ever seen Blake's 7? I will say if you haven't, its probably the most realistic thing in terms of overall outcome of things to me(Then again, without giving anything away, I am pretty pessimistic about things like what Blake's 7 is about).
@ChimeraHunter3025 I've seen every episode of Blake's 7 several times. Fantastic, dark, gritty, deadly-serious series. Loved it! I just wish we'd get the DVDs over here...
the way that you Zaranyzerak talk about Red Dwarf (which is awesome) reminds me a lot of the way that I could just talk for hours about the British sci-fi classic Doctor Who.
As i am British...I have never watched an episode of Red Dwarf from start to finish...
I dunno, maybe its just because it has Craig Charles and i could never stand him on the HIT!!! BBC SHOW!!! Robot Wars!
And im just generally not a fan of comedy of that era...
Maybe i'll give it a second chance!!! I dunno...ive still got exactly 1 butt ton of television to watch, im about 50 eps into The Wire, and ive yet to watch The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Madmen, and Walking Dead...
@dvdmike007 Yeah, I know it was on Dave, not the Beeb. Didn't know it wasn't broadcast in HD, though! The whole thing was filmed with Red One cameras, and looks lovely.
@Zaranyzerak They added it to the Sky Anytime service in HD like 6 month later on, I need to get the Blu as I really enjoyed it and the Blade Runner feel.
@dvdmike007 We got them on VHS, but that's it. I never got around to picking them up. The clips I saw and the general fan outrage over them didn't make them a high priority for me... One of these days I'll check 'em out, get mad, then marathon the original versions to clean my eyeballs.
@torquetheprisoner Hitchhiker's Guide, along with all things Monty Python, was what my friends and I would quote to each other endlessly growing up. I've seen, heard, played and read almost every iteration of HHGTTG there has ever been! Absolutely brilliant stuff.
I think I'll have to make a point of picking up the series sets on DVD. I had the full set on VHS in the 90's, but donated them to charity a few years back.
I then caught Back to Earth when it aired and realised how much I missed having the "Boys from the Dwarf" in my collection.
Even though I didn't enjoy the mini-series as much as series 1-8, it did remind me of how much I missed the late night Dwarf-a-thons of my mid teens.
The new season is infront of a live studio audiance!!!!!!! I missed getting tickets! our dvds have diff artwork season 5 had a cool Starbug with it,yes I have it had the smeg up vids and some remasterd vids where ok be nice to have as extra material on a dvd sometime but ye,leave the Dwarf alone lol
@Zaranyzerak Indeed I would, one can never have to much Sci Fi in space! hehe BTW if you've never seen the comedy Peep Show check it out! Greatest British comedy I've ever seen!
I use to watch this when I was a kid & loved, now got on dvd and still love, is a brilliant show, glad live in UK they only cos about 10 pounds a series
ro zannarak the fans are always bitching. Eragon was 5 years ago what did some of the fans say. It sucks the fortune teller which hermonine Granger knock of character and her were cat are not in it. Its not violent enough. Sapahria grows to fast. OMGDSFLIT. These people are annoying.
love red dwarf, they have released the remastered versions here in the uk, they are called the body snatcher collection, and the smeg ups and smeg out dvd was released too but i have no idea if they are censored
@Zaranyzerak Red Dwarf is awesome, have you watched the Brititsh (BBC) comedy series called "Bottom" staring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson? really funny.
