  • Who's that actress at 1:57 if she's an actress..she looks familiar

  • he is the man

  • Randy Robinson was based on the real wrestler Jake the Snake Roberts. It wasnt a totally made up movie. Rourke brings out the lunch bucket fans to his movies. He is a genious!

  • Care for Harvey Milk? it was a true story, and he change the face of politics as we now it. Randy Robinson was a fictional character.

Acting wise Mickey was a tad better, but I'm biases because I love the dude. But Milk had WAYYY too much going for it to lose.

  • nice clean and simple.....wait scratch that nice dirty and simple

  • the reason he did well in this film was because he played himself, the story resembled that of own, being a star one day then being nothing, it brought out emotions that he really acted out with memory and experience

  • Can anybody tell me who the gal is at 1:55?? My goodness

  • @NathanielShapiro That's Gemma Arterton. She's the actress that was in Tamara Drewe, and The Prince Of Persia.

  • If he would have won the Oscar, that would have been the ultimate comeback. Besides, everyone loves a comeback story.

  • haha why the fuck are they playing Keane? what does that have to do with anything?

  • yes oscars do go wrong sometimes as do every awards....but wat should not happen is blunders...i dont think mickey rourke not winning was a blunder...sean penn was good as well but people can have different opinions...but when films like goodfellas n ET failed to win oscar or denzel washington not winning fr malcom X those are blunders

  • his speech is so funny and unpredicable and it's probably why he didn't win the Oscar

  • I love how he lays one on Marisa Tomei and then gives that dude in the audience the fist pound. It just looked so cool.

  • OSCARS, AWARDS MEAN LITTLE to the greatest actors. some of the best performances go un-recognized by these clowns. if you look at mickey's performences in barfly, rumblefish, pope of grenitch village, he gets little to zero awards. stop with he deserved an oscar for the wresteler. HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT IF HE WON. he's just happy to be working again. and for the love of god. stop putting so much wait in these things. if a performance is good. its good. an award shouldn't mean that much.

  • the actor version of ozzy

  • Best acceptance speech at any award show ever :D

  • He won BAFTA, Golden Globe but not the Oscar!!!! WTF!!!!!! So robbed.....

  • Who is the woman at 1:56?? Thx

  • @fisichella78 gemma arterton

  • @wacko9119 thx. she's so hot

  • Long road back for a great actor. He humbled himself and worked hard, now Hollywood needs to do right by him. I haven't seen it yet but I heard he was great in Iron Man 2 and it was good for his career that he was a big component of a huge box office hit.

  • Dude, he looks so cool up there! Wish he would have won the Oscars.... Freakin Sean Penn rubbin his communist-ness on it! *VOMITS*

  • ............sharp dresser

  • es un señoron

  • Rourke gives the most perfectly timed 'bro-punch' to Harvey

Weinstein. In tune to the music too :D, this really was a perfect moment

  • mickey is the best

  • one of the best speeches I've ever heard, maybe the best...FUCK THE OSCARS

  • Forget the academy and their politics, Mickey. We awarded you based on your performance alone, not based on your support of same-sex marriage.

  • couldnt have said it better

the fact that he didn't win last year is an outrage

  • Our King is Back !

  • his speech is fuckin awesome!

  • i just like that he does his own thing. he's an individual.

  • It's a crime that he didn't win the Oscar for The Wrestler. I don't know how you could go past that for Sean Penn in Milk. Sean Penn was exceptional but come on! There's no question about it, Mickey's performance was moving beyond words and he TOTALLY lost himself in the role. Not just a little bit, totally.

  • @coolbrett

Bit like the modern day Robert de niro in raging bull lol

  • @coolbrett He won pretty much every other award that matters. Why give a shit about the choices of the idiotic Oscar Academy? Just make up your own mind who you like.

  • @coolbrett well i wud hv loved to c him win d oscar...but to b honest sean penn deserved it as much as mickey so it wz really 50:50

  • @coolbrett LOL@ "he lost himself in the role". He was just playing himself. An old burnt out down on his luck star. Sean Penn actually turned himself into another person. Penn deserved the Oscar. Not that an Oscar means shit anyway.

  • @coolbrett He didn't because he didn't play wrestler, he WAS wrestler (even if it was boxing, acting, whatever), he actually played himself and that's the problem. No matter how great, heartbreaking, moving, touching, worked out he was (and as he truly was). I love him and the movie, I wanted him to have it, he is talented and he would deserved it for all those stuff he went through, but I understand why it did not happen. It wouldn't be that fair anyway...

  • @coolbrett

I think they gave the Oscar to Sean because of the gay community and the prop8.

  • @coolbrett I agree with you, but no he never lost himself in the role. NEVER speak for others when it comes to these things. Mickey said himself that losing yourself in the role would be a negative factor when it comes to acting. Gary Oldman (another actor who has always been said to have lost himself in his roles) says that you must stay in absolute control of a character to let the audience assume such a thing. Either way, Mickey did great.

  • @KayWildcat What I meant to say was, he made it LOOK like he lost himself in the role, because thats the job of the actor, to totally become someone else. Of course you need a certain amount of control because these things aren't really happening to you. You have to act. Randy isn't exactly a person that looks like he's in complete control of his life or actions anyway, but Rourke made it look like he disappeared into the role, which is the ultimate job of a great actor

  • @coolbrett Yes, well.....Rourke did pretty much re-live his life as inspiration for the character. In many ways.....Randy's life was parallel to his own.

  • @coolbrett Milk was more PC

  • @coolbrett , yeah def man.....Rourke really deserved a fucking Oscar in the Wrestler. This shit works backwards....like in Gladiator, the actor got the Oscar instead of the director. It should have been the other way around

  • SUPERB

  • The Motorcycle Boy Reigns

  • asia argento was that?

  • please i want to know what the name of the song playing at the begining? cuz it's really beautiful music

  • Mickey ROCKS!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The Wrestler is sick!!!

But I think his best movie EVER is Harley Davidson And The Marlboro Man!!!

  • No way,BULLET is his best. The movie is crap, but he brings the charactor to life in bullet.

  • @YeaWhiplash: Damn right about that. Bullet certainly was a pile of horseshit, production-wise, but Mickey's performance made my jaw hit the floor. Brilliant.

  • I have not seen it yet, but I will soon.

  • Very cool and funny acceptance speech.

Mickey Rourke did a great performance in 'The Wrestler.'

  • UGH still pisses me off that Penn won the Oscar...he STOLE it from Mickey! If I were Penn I would have walked down from the stage and handed it to Rourke and waved him upstage.

    No freakin' JOKE.

  • I always love Mickey's speeches, anyway YES TY for saying it moody,Penn gets an award thrown at him everytime he walks out his front door it seems

  • No problem. ;) Someone had to say it! In fact, if I ever see Sean Penn I'm going to ask him how he feels about winning the oscar based on the academy's fear of not being PC by handing it to him! I mean COME ON...Mickey won almost EVERY other award he was nominated for...he should have been the sure win! Such a shame.

  • AGREED

  • AWESOME!!! go here mmmfreemovies[dot]com to download all the movies you want

  • aww why was sharon stone crying?? was she close with mickey?

  • Mickey deserved the Oscar as well, if you ask me. Sean Penn was very good in Milk, but I didn't care for Harvey Milk as much as I did about Randy Robinson.

  • This was a great speech and for the last few months I was a fan. Until I saw video of him grabbing girls asses and having porno kissing with teenage gals. He is drunk in clubs every night and acting like a diva too. The best he can do is Iron Man when he says he will never sell out again? Congrats on being bought out Mickey.

  • awesone honest speach, hah that british animator

  • LOL, what british animator?? That's Jonathan Ross, he's a legend of TV hosting...

  • I was stunned by "The Wrestler." What an affecting movie, and Mickey Rouke was..well, there are just no words to describe how good he was in that role. Fuck the Academy Awards for not giving the Oscar he so very much deserved. I wish him all the best.

  • What's the song that starts as soon as she announces his name? At about 0.05

  • 'Spiralling' by Keane.

  • I was blown away by that movie, and I don't care that much for wrestling. I hope I can see some more good movies with him in them

  • At least someone appreciates Mickey Rourke... Stupid Oscars.... But who cares he's got a Best Actor Golden Globe and a Best Actor BAFTA, so take that Academy Awards!

  • mickey you are the great of all times

  • 1:57 - Right enough that is Gemma Arterton, not sure why previous comment got thumbs down

  • Comment removed

  • hey Camoron339 , I don't think they meant no harm by it, they we're just so used to him being funny all the time at that point that it was an automatic response I think

  • who's the girl at 1:58

    ?

  • Gemma Arterton - bond girl in latest 007 movie Quantum of Solace

  • how about the insensitivity at the celebrity crowd reaction to "such a pleasure to be here an be back out of the darkness". that wasn't funny in the slightest not even in a twisted kind of way.

  • Damn straight; Ross stuck to his guns. And if Russell brand quits a radio show, who cares? But Ross resigning would have knock on effect on lots of people who produce his shows.

  • Raaandy Raaandy Raaandy!

  • 1:57 Soooooo nice girl! Who is she?

  • mickey should have won the oscar too!

  • he reminds alot of jack nicholsson

  • What music is this?

  • Go for it...Mickey...you deserve it...

  • I love Mickey!!

  • Yes. THE MAN!

  • that was funny

  • sean penn was wonderful but mickey was untouchable, bastard oscars, fuckem.

  • A classic speech. And he's right about Marisa Tomei ... her performance was truly amazing....

The 3 months' suspension refers to one of the British broadcasters. Was it Russell Brand's prank call to a politician or Maggie Thatcher's daughter's utterly racist comments about a French tennis player? Somebody help me out here....

Anyway, Mickey Rourke was always a great actor. So many great performances.... Although he was born for The Wrestler role, I actually thought he was good, not great....

  • That's purely....Mickey....

  • thanks jshimmy666.

  • Since Sin City, since ... Man on Fire even, and he was actually pretty good looking in that.

  • mickey is back!!!!

(but I think since sin city)

  • like sean said mickey was is a great poetic actor re rumblefish

  • does anyone know the name of the intro song in the beginnin?

  • The intro song is 'Spiralling' by Keane

  • Loved how Mickey Rourke got "suspended" at the end, very good and amusing speech!

  • I don't remember the last time i posted something on youtube.

But this time i have to do it. I think that's a hipe with mikey rourke and now many people like's him, and i like that.

For me is special, he is not a god or something, but he was and he is a great actor. The oscar is good with Sean Penn. But it was better with the great Rourke.

And Sean Penn got a lot of my consideration for remember in his speach that Mikey Rourke rises again

  • Legend Mickey Rourke.

    Gemma Arterton at 1:57 FITTTTTY

  • first of all Rourke wasnt robbed, he got a number of awards and was very recognized for his role in the Wrestler...Sean Penn won at the Oscars because of his performance. Are you going to say Downey Jr. was robbed for best supporting? Why? Because Heath Ledger is dead? No, its because Heath Ledgers was better...simply put.

  • Mickey Rourke rises again. ..

  • well deserved. probably robbed at the oscars, but hard to begrudge sean penn for winning. nice to see penn acknowledge rourke in his speech.

  • Couldn't help noticing that the guy sitting next to Marissa tomei and Mickey Rourke played Ryan's brother in the OC... whats he doing there?

Anyway Rourke is one of a kind, his speech today at the spirit awards was even better.

  • The guy between Mickey and Marissa is her boyfriend. And his speech at the spirits is the best speech EVER.

  • Sharon Stone is such a real, beautiful person here - she is caught on camera there crying for him - sweetheart

  • wat a great guy, the werestler was great but the way he slapped enrique iglesias in the "hero" video was just marvelous lol

  • What a STUD!

  • He is a good guy. I did some pretty silly things when he was younger but didn't we all. He is a big animal lover and a kind heart I feel. Good for him.

  • Man I like this--Guy obviously struggles with life (still) and found a way to shine through. SO...Fucking NOT Hollywood. Note: his dog just died.....this man's best friend.

  • I don't get why, you english speaking people, make such a big fuss over using the F word. It is Mickey's natural way of speaking and was not intended to offend but just to put some emphasis on his feelings. Love Mickey... he is so natural and talented... you go boy!

  • well done Mickey.

    you deserve it.

  • That was GREAT! All these people applauding whenever he swore!!!!!

Very honest speech, and Mickey should win the Oscar!!! GREAT fucking movie, stunning.

  • just saw "The Wrestler"...wow, loved it

  • I hope he wins Best Actor

  • he's himself up there

  • He was my favourite from Sin City.

  • Prolly one of the most honest speeches I have ever heard

  • Good for him! He's great!

Im from Orange and Fearne Cotton interviewed him for us on the Red Carpet, if you search for bafta 2009 winner mickey rourke interview with fearne cotton you'll find it!

  • also, his respect to Richard Harris...Wikked

  • been a fan for a long long time...Happy to see you in the movies again Mickey

  • Wonderful, wonderful speech. Plus, damn...the man is still so gorgeous.

And the dedication to Harris at the end was such a delightful touch! :D

  • jeez... sharon stone cries at the drop of a fuckin hat haha....if i had a pound for every time ive seen her cry at awards, in an interview, on dvd extras- id be a millionaire.

anyway, lets get on topic for a second- its great to have Mickey Rourke well and truly back- give him best actor Oscar please!!

  • Great speech! Btw, does anyone know the song that is playing as he is walking up to collect his award?

  • Ya its Spiralling by Keane

  • hes mental

  • Whatt can I say he gave some life to those awards, he was just great, sincere, humble and just funny, love Mickey in the 80's and love him now.

    wilma

  • that fwas fwantastitthhh...

  • Bravo for the dedication to Richard Harris...

  • anybody that didnt laugh at that speech is just jealous as hell.......probably cant stand the honesty!!!! Top top man!!!!

  • i have been a fan of mickey roarke for many years & watching this cracked me up. he is such a rebel & he is so NOT fake like many other celebrities. it makes me happy for him to get this award cuz i think in his earlier yrs he would have prob just thumbed his nose at it but now after having made so many mistakes in life & career, he's back & he's a bit humble in his own way but still has his bad-ass attitude. mickey is the still the man!

  • 1.55 ---> who's that pretty?

  • Gemma Arterton

  • Rachel Weisz, Aronofsky's wife

  • Yup, it's Gemma Arterton. Absolute stunner and a fine actress in her own right.

  • mickey a funny guy.

check my chris brown exclusive editorial video on rihanna.

  • ..."and now he is suspended for three months"

    hahahahaha - the brits RULE!!!

  • ..."and now he is suspended for three months"

hahahahaha - the brits RULE!!! "Haha, u say that "sorensenallan", u dont know the half of it, Jonathan Ross, the host, was suspended by the BBC for making, apparently unacceptable remarks on BBC radio. & his suspension has only been lifted for about 3 weeks b4 this! lol

  • ohh, I thought it was a reference to the Michael Phelps Pot Smoking Ban...3 months suspension as well.... :)

  • this was the highlight of the night. god he is funny. the rest of it was so boring and then there he came and lightened up the mood. what a guy.

  • You're right, I watched this lives, well, when it was on, but the fuckin' BBC wankers putting a 15-20minute delay on it means we couldn't watch it actually live, but its stupid because of tproducers & the BAFTA execs making sure Jonathan Ross tone down this yr because of the Radio call scandal, but he was still a little funny with what he could get away wuth, the Cristian Bale joke wasn't too bad, but ur right, pretty boring this yr, Mickey Rourke injected abit of bloody life into it!!!

  • Go Micky and glad you made it out of the darkness..... some never do.

  • Best speech I've seen in ages. Hope he wins an Oscar too.

  • People who are complaining about this acceptance speech because of the swearing should be dropped off in the middle of Africa and forced to help plough a field to feed starving children.....maybe they will find other things to complain about.

  • that comment u sent had me in stitches - lol couldn't agree more mind you ;-)

  • Funny as hell and even with the swearing a class act all the way! Micky's got Oscar in the bag!!!

  • classic XDDD always love his speechs XDDD

I hope he win this Oscar, but...I don't know if he's "politically correct" enough for those self-righteous guys of the Academy...meaning that he can't won the Oscar u_u but I really hope I'm totally wrong...

  • MICKEY FOR OSCAR

  • Thanks for posting this! The theater here in Ottawa is playing it once a day at ten pm. Just saw it and it was not what I expected. Thats a good thing! The low budget kept it very realistic and not over the top. I remember every scene and these days thats a rare thing. The ending made the film. I didnt feel I missed something. The stripper left when he needed her. His daughter could have called him too. I would have seen he was trying. I wanted to protect Randy/Mickey It was not all his fault..

  • welcome back micky

  • There was controversy about him using "fuck" in a speech two or three times? Jesus Christ...

  • Best acceptance speech ever

  • Once a hellraiser..... always a hellraiser!

  • such a classic

  • Richard Harris was one of the best actors ever.

  • Who's the lady in black at 1:56-1:58?

  • a big Grrrrrrrrrr to her.

  • Gemma Arterton

  • Cmon Oscar for Mickey surely. If they are brave enough for an Oscar speech like that of course.

  • Best speech of the night. Mick Jagger was funny too.

  • 0:53 Patrick Stewart behind Brad Pitt.

    Well done Mickey.

  • Great Candid Speech, plus if Sharon wants to be emotional so what? she's showing she's human so get over it :) btw who's Richard Harris?

  • He was Dumbledore in the first Harry Potter and Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator

  • Yeah..sure he was.

  • Rourke?

    no he wasnt

  • He's talking about the late Richard Harris, not Rourke.

  • anybody know the song playing in the background?

  • Spiralling by Keane

  • Yep it's Spiraling by Keane

  • i love this guy :)

  • why do you have to say that for?

  • i just checked guys, it's marion cottilard, not gemma arterton or penelope cruz...all very pretty women mind...

  • look at all the fake-ass celebs pretending to be emotional, it makes me sick! but Rourke is the fucking man!

  • I know! Sharon Stone always does this shit. Acting like she's so emotional over who wins. Give me a break. She looks so stupid especially considering Mickey's speech is so fun.
