@Acethe2nd :) In an earlier scene after wardialing, the system allowed him to List Games before he had Falken's privileges to play them. Games he never tried included Falken's Maze, Chess, Poker, and Theaterwide Biotoxic and Chemical Warfare.
@dnid something to do with loving dick.... fuckin pisses me off too... i dont view them from a facebook or someones post if embedding is disabled..... unless im browsing youtube, then i dont even realize embedding is diaabled
Wargames is based on an actual incident involving NORAD's training simulator putting it's training programme on the main control centre screens instead of on the screens in the training centre in the early 80's. Luckily, as we're all still here to talk about it, the duty watch officer decided to hold of launch until he got confirmation from the more northern tracking stations - which saw nothing.
It was in a Discovery Channel documentary i saw a few months back but I can't find the fragment.
I called my brother once to see if he wanted a game of counterstrike and answered the phone with that computer's voice... "Shall, we, play, a, game...."
I've always loved this movie. It really did have an impact on the thinking of people during the cold war. The one thing that put me off a bit, and, in my opinion, kept it from being more of a classic than it is, is Ally Sheedy's over acting.
@tonemenolc Totally agree. Many hackers who were in the 80s were inspired by this movie. This movie was not that far fetched. You would be surprised how many systems could be accessed.
@r32adt3db I finally watched it on Netflix, and I have to admit I liked it a lot more than I though I would. Still, it's probably a good thing it went direct-to-video. It would have lost MGM money in the theatres, and that's the last thing they need.
lol did u know it made fun of the American army cuz thay have something like that computer but its called brgr like burger and on the movie its wopr like wopper lol
Great film, the sequel is pretty good as well, along the same lines but more modern. Quite nostalgic, I liked it and i guess anyone that likes the original will like this one as well
