Brother Paul Washer is indeed passionate about the gospel, and has studied THE LIVING WORD!!!! Glory Hallelujah there is a TRUE BODY as referenced in the BIBLE>
Just a comment/question, isn't this passage, Matt. 7, the part about fruits specific to false prophets, not believers and whether they are saved or not?
Friend, I never said Lot wasn't righteous before God. I only said he was not living as a righteous man should. Calvinists teach that all believers show fruit. Lot did not have fruit but he had much sin. Lot proves that a man is saved by faith EVEN IF he has no discernable fruit.
And everyone who has believed in Christ is saved forever even if they have no works visible to man.
If Lot was truly living as a believer, exhibiting righteousness as he should have, he wouldn't have bee in Sodom. Nor would he have fathered two sons by his daughters. Lot is an example that counteracts Lordship Salvation. Or did you only read 15 minutes of Genesis? You seem to forget that the Angels were there to drag him out of Sodom, not to enjoy his questionable hospitality. He wanted to be rich and lost everything, yet he was saved because GOD is faithful to keep His promise. OSAS
6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered RIGHTEOUS Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that RIGHTEOUS man, dwelling among them, tormented his RIGHTEOUS soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—
God needs no works to know who believes, as He sees and knows all hearts. Conversely, men need works to see faith. Abraham had both, so was justified before both God and men. Some believers have no works (Lot,a righteous man)or had works but ceased to do them (see Solomon). Some had a mixture (Samson) and some, no man can tell, but God knows. Some have no fruit YET (see Psalm 1) but will have when they mature (see Psalm 1).
Abraham was saved by faith alone. Faith is not a work. Romans 4
1. Lot DID NOT have works? Read again the chapter when he invites the Angels and what happens during the night. Righteousness ALWAYS is seen in the world of the darkness.
Salomon fell into sin. So did David. Paul Washer is FAR from saying Christians are perfect and do not sin. He says that someone whose heart is transformed to love God it will be seen in the world which does all out of hatred towards God.
I also think you understand differently words 'fruit' and 'works' than PW does.
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
What then is the will of God?
John 6:40 (KJV) And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Nice... What is the evidence that you have believed on the son?
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (ROMANS 7)

If it is unclear in Mt 7:16-20 then refer to John 15:1-8.This speaks more plainly of followers and believers of Christ and bearing good fruit.

@skibjabali there's a passage in mark similar to matt 7 i think...that makes no reference to false prophets at all

Now about LOT, you are totally wrong:
2 PETER 2:
6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered RIGHTEOUS Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that RIGHTEOUS man, dwelling among them, tormented his RIGHTEOUS soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—
