There is another thing supporting the "left hand theory". Since right handed players finish on their strong side, the right side most of the time, using the left hand to block means that the body is turned facing the middle of the court and that the block sends the ball back inbounds ideally, whereas blocking a righthanded player with the right hand usually means the body is turned to the base line or the side line, and then the block sends the ball out of bounds.
