Instead of dividing them by suit, I find it more realistic by dividing them by value. One pile has cards with even values and the other has odd values. It takes longer but it's more realistic.
It will but you can't let anyone see the halves of the deck because 26 and 26 of a single color is very obvious. You can still do the face up/face down shuffle as long as you keep it to a riffle shuffle. Just be conscious of keeping your hands to cover the face up part so everyone can't see all the cards are a single color as they flip through. At any rate though, I really recommend doing the suits method, it is really not that hard and makes the trick MUCH more deceptive.
I COULD make them a lot shorter. However the reason they run as long as they do is because I try to over-explain everything I feel is important. There's no way to tell what parts of a trick people will or won't be confused about so I cover everything in great detail. It does make them longer viewing, but it cuts down on questions.
Bicycle cards are paper with a plastic finish. As long as you don't crease them they are quite durable. Pure plastic cards are VERY durable but tend to be to slick for magic use. Plain paper are very cheap but wear out quicjly and tend to stick togther too much.
If people are really paying attention (which anyone watching THIS video usually is) it can seem a bit suspiscious yes. However, if you do this as a middle trick (not the first or last one you show somebody) and you chat casually as you go no one is paying attention and it just goes by unnoticed.
I think that you're partially right... if you're standing silently, splitting the deck in face up and down cards, it will seem suspicious..I don't like how the performer says: I'm going to split the deck here.. You're better off saying something like: "I'm going to mix up the deck real good here", or something like that... makes the spectator believe you're actually giving yourself a disadvantage! Hopes this helps :)
just by watching your vids i can learn like that. this is avery interesting trick but getting it set up will make people wonder whats going on. some face up and some face down. but if the audience doesnt say anything, i think it should go smoothly.
hey, thats exactly how i felt about the rubiks cube video. as a matter of fact, i actually bought the rubiks cube that same day because i always wanted to know how to solve one. Then i went on youtube and there it was!

does the riffle shuffle ruin the Bycicle cards?
sanzborja 3 years ago
Not in the slightest. Yes it does do wear on them but pretty much anything you do is going to wear a deck out EVENTUALLY.
