Iommi invented the metal riff and created a completely original sound... Randy Rhodes was great at his thing, but personally, I find myself listening to Iommi a lot more.

Making comparisons between two utterly different musicians (Iommi and Rhodes) is stupid. Its like saying "engine oil is better than bricks". Why would anybody even make the comparison? It isnt a competition or a thing you can measure. Music has never been about that.

He added versatility to solos and incorporated classical into metal which has led others to take guitar solos a lot farther than simple chord progressions. To all those that compare the Ozzy stuff to the Dio stuff with Sabbath; it's Apples and Oranges. The Dio stuff has always been much heavier in my opinion.

I really prefered Ozzy on his own, but I got into metal in 1984 or so. I think each singer is great in thier own right, but I have to say Dio just really gives Black Sabbath much more of a metal sound. That being said: Iomi just kills on this new recording. Best stuff he has done since the Martin days. I love all the tracks!
