I dont quite understand what people didnt like about Raiden...I thought he was comical, and like me a bit of an amature. but thats what made him different from Snake.The MGS2 backlash on Raiden was nothing more than Fanboy/girl bitchen and crying that Snake wasnt a playable.Snake was still in the game its not like he was fucked over. I really hope this game has the option to choose where to have the audio in JAPANESE. I believe it would make the voice acting in this game more realistic and much better from my perspective.. Thumps up if you agree.
Raiden is cool and all but it's not mgs with snake. They left the window open for his return saying the gray fox virus started to reverse it's aging process to actually make him younger. I figure that was the aim for the future game. If it's just Raiden then I'll be givng this one a miss.
@robjg002 YOu should try it, even its only cheaper. I have imformation, that you first play as raiden like mgs2 with the style of mgs4, but later get all your powers and the style changes . Ad i think it could be awesome. I bet 100% better than the first 4 psp games. ^^

i heard something about another metal gear solid game coming out around the same time as rising that has big boss in it. can someone tell me if its true or not.
if this comes out on one dvd them we know it's only filling up 1/3 of a Blu-ray disc. So i hope Kojima makes it at least a 3 dvd level game. This generation is being ruined by Microsoft Monopoly/PC gaming. Most Japanese devs are dumbing things down to dvd level and PC game engines like Unreal engine etc. Taking the quick buck and easy way out with smaller dvd level games instead of giving PS3 owners 25GB and up level games. Sad.

@ideezydgaf1 He was talking about Meat Gear Solid 4. MGS 4 will always be PS3 exclusive, it simply would not fit the Xbox 360's disc capacity. MGS 4 would have to be on multiple discs to be on Xbox 360. Which is one reason why MGS 4 was not ported on Xbox 360 and remained exclusive to PS3. This (Metal Gear Solid: Rising) is a spin off and is on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
@DylanRed Thats just what Hideo Kojima said. Anyway if the game was multiple dics on the Xbox 360 it would look inferior to the PS3 version, such as it would have a lower resolution. Just look at Final Fantasy XIII that was on three discs on the Xbox 360 and one disc on the PS3. The PS3 version of FFXIII looked far superior than the 360 version of FFXIII becuase it had a higher resolution, better shadowing, colour and loading times. But yeah i guess MGS4 still could have been on 360.

If this game takes place before MGS 4 then how come he has that bandana over his right eye? Does he get his eye replaced with an eye glass or something in MGS4? That's the only logical explination. Or maybe he just wears the bandana to look cool.

I think for the best, they need to recreate MGS4 and put it in like a value pack for MGS Rising, to further please the ppl. Its the least they could do for not having Snake originally appear for 360. It's kinda funny that fanboys will bitch about not having an overrated character for the role of MGS: Rising. When this game itself is just a damn spin-off. Resistance Retribution, that game is a spin-off and yet no one complains about the main character being in the game. This is what I have to say about the Metal Gear games, very epic, but the fanbase sucks since fanboys have no faith and do not deserve to be called gamers since gamers know how to have fun then complain.

Why is this a hack and slash action game?! I loved the tactical shooter experience of the MTG franchises... I just hope that there is at least stealth involved and usable firearms.
Snake: He seems more of the actual MGS theme and storyline though. I mean Snake seems to me more of the stealthy shooter kind of agent which is just what the MGS series needs for the regular feel for the games.
Raidan: Raiden, he seems like a more action-packed kind of character. Awesome ninja-like moves and sword skills all the while still remaining stealthy and ready for the mission. If Kojima teamed up with Ninja Team from Ninja Gaiden, I think they could make one kickass game.
@NWA90s I meant in general not in this game only. I know it has pretty much no stealth elements, but I was just stating what I thought the characters seemed like to me for game genres. Snake for the regular MGS theme of sneaking and stuff, Raiden for the hardcore action and fighting.

Metal Gear Rising is gonna be amazing. So what if Snake won't be around? on Sons of Liberty you played with Raiden the majority of the story so it shouldn't be a surprise. But all in all this is a Stand alone story so you don't need to play any of the other MGS game to understand.
But we that allredy have will know more cause we know Raiden better.

This generation is being ruined by Microsoft Monopoly/PC gaming. Most Japanese devs are dumbing things down to dvd level and PC game engines like Unreal engine etc. Taking the quick buck and easy way out with smaller dvd level games instead of giving PS3 owners 25GB and up level games. Sad.

@flarbton PCs are vastly more powerful than the ps3. unreal engine is multiplatform, and most games that use it have consoles as lead platforms. you honestly have no clue what you're talking about. a high end gaming PC of 2004 can harness almost triple the power and raw performance of a ps3, especially if the ps3 is running a multiplatform game.

all i can say is does anyone have a hint as to when this game will release the only thing ive seen on google is sometime is 2011 which i kind of expected just wondering which quarter. im definetly down for any metal gear game seein as how they have the most espionage-rich dramatic story lines of any modern day stealth game i can think of...heck even my wife loved mgs4 because it was like playing an actual movie....kojima was definetly meant to do what he does as a profession thats for sure

@ideezydgaf1 He was talking about Meat Gear Solid 4. MGS 4 will always be PS3 exclusive, it simply would not fit the Xbox 360's disc capacity. MGS 4 would have to be on multiple discs to be on Xbox 360. Which is one reason why MGS 4 was not ported on Xbox 360 and remained exclusive to PS3. This (Metal Gear Solid: Rising) is a spin off and is on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

@DylanRed Thats just what Hideo Kojima said. Anyway if the game was multiple dics on the Xbox 360 it would look inferior to the PS3 version, such as it would have a lower resolution. Just look at Final Fantasy XIII that was on three discs on the Xbox 360 and one disc on the PS3. The PS3 version of FFXIII looked far superior than the 360 version of FFXIII becuase it had a higher resolution, better shadowing, colour and loading times. But yeah i guess MGS4 still could have been on 360.

I think for the best, they need to recreate MGS4 and put it in like a value pack for MGS Rising, to further please the ppl. Its the least they could do for not having Snake originally appear for 360. (Personally I think they need to recreate all of them with their original stories) It would make them more money anyway, or just make a 4disc package for like 100 w/MGS1-4)

It's kinda funny that fanboys will bitch about not having an overrated character for the role of MGS: Rising. When this game itself is just a damn spin-off. Resistance Retribution, that game is a spin-off and yet no one complains about the main character being in the game. This is what I have to say about the Metal Gear games, very epic, but the fanbase sucks since fanboys have no faith and do not deserve to be called gamers since gamers know how to have fun then complain.

Anyways just because Snake is liked? doesn't mean alot of people are going to admire him, they'll be others who dislike snake, to put it in short? "It's not anyone's cup of tea". Snake: He seems more of the actual MGS theme and storyline though. I mean Snake seems to me more of the stealthy shooter kind of agent which is just what the MGS series needs for the regular feel for the games.
Raidan: Raiden, he seems like a more action-packed kind of character. Awesome ninja-like moves and sword skills all the while still remaining stealthy and ready for the mission. If Kojima teamed up with Ninja Team from Ninja Gaiden, I think they could make one kickass game.

@NWA90s I meant in general not in this game only. I know it has pretty much no stealth elements, but I was just stating what I thought the characters seemed like to me for game genres. Snake for the regular MGS theme of sneaking and stuff, Raiden for the hardcore action and fighting.

Metal Gear Rising is gonna be amazing. So what if Snake won't be around? on Sons of Liberty you played with Raiden the majority of the story so it shouldn't be a surprise. And this PS3 and 360 shit need to stop for real. And fan boys need to realize that Sony does not own Metal Gear. Sony didn't even help start the Metal Gear franchise. If memory serves me right it was PC and Nintendo. And this is not the first time a MGS game will be on a Xbox system. So all this game bashing need to stop.
