Reptile degraded over time because he couldn't live in Zaterra, his homeland anymore. Shao Kahn destroyed or merged Zaterra, and most of his race is dead. In the games, the only Zaterran characters we see are Reptile and Khameleon. Khameleon hasn't been explicitly stated to be degrading too, but in MKT she was completely human looking, and in MK:A she had some lizard-like influences, such as that she looked slimy. Reptile's main goal was to restore Zaterra to its former glory.

@skwizzgar Well if you want to. But id look into more games for the system. 50+ bucks for a system plus a game isnt worth it. Plus i think the dreamcast controller is rediculous, but thats my opinion. The only real difference is a few different characters. I think N64 was the best for MK4.

It is probably because of the technology. Originally, he was a palette swap from Scorpion/Sub-Zero. Then he was given his own story, but he still remained a palette swap until the 3D era, when he finally got an Reptilian appearance. They justified it saying he was devolving. If you think about it, his first form was ment to be like in Shaolin Monks (a reptile dressed as a ninja)..

Shaolin Monks appearance of each characters are based on MK2 appearances, but improved. Clearly this is how Reptile was meant to look like (similar thing shown on the MK2 commercial, look around for it).

Also i used two different versions for the two MK2 fatalities. I just donwloaded the first one from somewhere, i probably did the other one on an emulator but it wasn't a conscious decision to have them different
