Hmmm.. This dude even looks a bit like Vangelis. The greatest compliment a person can pay an artist is to try to mimic their work. And that it seems is what everyone does here on YouTube. But is the original posted anywhere here? I've been looking for it, and can't seem to find it.
That was not so good Mr Effort. But I have a great respect for trying it. Keep trying. And once you play it without your musicsheet, you can play it from your heart.
@Alessandrophobia I just started learning piano and this is the first piece im learning but i can assure you my techical ability isnt very good that doesnt mean you cant play from the heart! I think he does an excellant job! If you can do better post it and let us all comment on your interpretation. Yea, i know my spelling sucks.
some of the chord changes in this song just hit me right there ya know? im not a music guy so i couldnt tell you if they are minor or major but im guessing its the minor chords or whatever.the ones that kind of drop your heart off a ledge and let it hover there for a second.
@de4dr4bbit Hi deadrabbit, I'd like to give you a musically intelligent reply, but it's ages since I recorded the piece. If I remember rightly it's it D major, but I'm sure it has it's minor moments such as chord ii i.e. e minor. Loved the poetry of your message, thanks for watching, Mike.
My eight year old son plays the piano and he is learning me how to play! I would love to play this song one day. But in the meantime, are there any keyboards that highlight the keys as you play? A keyboard for dummies ?
@Purist1 Hi I'm replying from my other channel. There are NO shortcuts to learning any musical instruments that I am aware of. I suggest that you find a teacher if you can afford one and stay clear of what I consider to be gimmick keyboards created to make a fast buck. Sorry if this sounds hard but it's the truth in my experience at least.
@Dextroy83320 Thanks for you're comment. The only sure way of playing Memories of Green like this is to learn to read music to a reasonable level and play from the printed score. I know this isn't much help and states the obvious but I didn't want to just ignore your post.
No song has ever captured tenderness, emotion- sadness, joy, anger-, and beauty quite as well as this masterpiece, and your feeling for the sensation of the music puts this rendition among the top of my list. Thanks, please keep up the good work, and see if you can fit a random background chainsaw noise into your next video for us :-D
Very nice job ... I am doing a recording project with some "names" and I would love to have some really haunting and beautiful piano sounds ... you are great ... if you are interested you can email me at: jeffpinfo@gmail.com
Very haunting, sends me cold, beautifully played. I am learning this one myself, the only thing is, your piano is in tune! (the original is detuned slightly)
@Simoninthehole Hi, Thank you for your comment. I have been playing the piano for 21 years. I started when I was 21 and for the first 10 years played everyday unless it wasn't possible. Then I played occasionally but taught throughout as I still do. I play the piano again now quite regularly, mainly improvising as I've lost quite a bit of technique for classics etc I'm trying to become a Jazz pianist. I'm currently 42 years old. I believe it's never to late, certainly true regarding enjoying it.
I think the phone ringing in the background adds a lovely Blade Runner touch to the piece. This song in particular has some ambient hospital sounds in the background, so I wouldn't worry too much about the phone. I like it in there. :)
1: Look online for the hand-written piano arrangement of this piece by a guy named Camille Goudeseune. It is on his personal website. It is much better than the arrangement you are using.
2: Learn to let go of the foot pedal every now and then. Otherwise the tones are blending too much, which results in a "messy" sound.
Thank you for your advice, I will have a look for the arrangement you mentioned. As for the pedaling, yes my pedaling could be better, it has always been a weaker part of my playing but I don't think I'm going to "learn to let go of the foot pedal every now and then" now. I'm in too much of a habit. Hope you didn't find it too "messy", thanks for the concluding remark though.
Beautiful! There are so very few recordings of this on YouTube (played by fans I mean, not the original soundtrack). You really captured it and the tone on your piano is very nice. =)
Thank you so much for sharing. This is probably my favorite movie and I really ought to learn this some day as well, I almost feel guilty for not having learned to play it yet! Like I owe it a tribute as payment for being such a wonderful film, hehe. Thanks again for sharing. =)
Thank you BIGGI, I appreciate your support also, I don't have many "batting for me" like you, though I think people see me and my beard and don't go any further! Your welcome regarding my comments on your videos, I always watch your videos. As for softness, my piano has a beautifully sensitive action, the whole video was done without any use of the "soft" pedal. It was a lucky find. I was going to go to London to get the Bechstein I dreamed about and found this locally!
I read it all,and I always watch also your videos. The Bechstein sounds really great! Wish,I had it...I've now bought a new concert-piano "KAWAI" - in the next time I'll also play on it,instead of my SAUTER - which also has a good quality.
Many greetings from your friend BIGGI, go on with your soft and wonderful playing! I'm always enjoying it!!

Pretty good effort, though. :)
