  • that's nothin. you New Yorkers, haha you get 2.5 feet of snow and shut everything down. I live in da U.P. of Michigan and the first snow storm, we got 10+ inches. But that was only the first storm and its only November. December, we will get like 4-5 feet!! BEAT THAT!

  • The weather is taking revenge for Obama mass murdering Afghan and Libyan innocents.

  • had to mute this the song makes snow seem horrific when it's actually beautiful. It's just the idiots that don't respect nature that end up getting hurt.

  • I remember leaving Buffalo when this storm hit...driving through it...and coming out on the LaSalle Expressway in Niagara Falls to bright sunsjome and clear pavement. It was unbelievable! It happened just like that! Wall of snow...bright sunshine!

  • Of course it happened on my birthday, BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVA!!!!!!!!

  • @BubblyMermaids1 Last year, there was a snow storm on my birthday, it was awesome!

  • @illikainen12 Luccckkkyyyy lol

  • my friends planned a detroit trip sabres at red wings an bills at lions i wasnt gunna go had work.thurs night i changed my mind an went til tuesday .when i got back power was back on.....ps sabres won against hasek bills got blown out

  • I'm from Philly (residing here again temporarily). I actually live in Orchard Park (lots of lake effect). I'll never forget sitting by my window watching Leno. We had a few surges then @ 11:53 PM (still 10/12), boom! My hubby (who's from the S Tier) & I couldn't believe it! Full whiteout, the sky was red, green, purple & blue; thunder, lightning & the TREES! The main reason it was a big deal was that it was early Fall. Otherwise, NOTHING phases a WNYer & I applaud them for their diligence.

  • When I was four years old there was a terrible ice storm and I think the power was out for almost three months

  • Oh my God, I remember this happening. It started late on Thurs. the 12th (make a better story if you say it started Friday the 13th). I can remember the joy my sisters and I had playing in the snow instead of being stuck in school on the Friday. But very soon, we relised it was so much more than what we bargained for. 8 days without power, seven consecutive snow days. Crazy.

Do you still live in the WNY area currently? Because here in Lancaster currently, we have three feet of snow.

  • @supermonkeyballboy yeah im back from school, i wasnt around for the recent storm but yeah we got 3 feet too, musta been nice to see

  • @skimanevan7 There wasn't all that much to see. Literally. Most of the storm was in near white out conditions.

  • @supermonkeyballboy Remember the flashes in the sky?

  • @zac856314 If you're talking about the October Storm... I can't say I can. To tell you the truth, I actually slept through the actual storm... usually I'm a light sleeper, but I guess I was just too deep in slumber to notice. I bet it was cool though!

  • @supermonkeyballboy fuckin 3 feet of snow inn july yu guys gotta bee krazy ta live up dere n buffalo do yu guys ever have summers?

  • @strongties I posted that comment 6 months ago. Currently we're receiving a break in the worst heatwave in years that got our temperatures up to 95º and the RealFeels up to 120º. And also we have a pretty condensed but harsh snowing season, from late November to early April.

  • @supermonkeyballboy no way dude

  • I'll never forget the sound of branches cracking and falling in the middle of the night, they sounded like gunshots going off at times! Plus we lost power in North Tonawanda, it sucked!

  • We don't have snow on oct in UK. This is odd, but cool.

  • I remember wanting to play in the snow so badly but my mom wouldn't let me...

  • freakin crazy night that was, with transformers going off, lighting, trees and lost power for 2 1/2 weeks

  • Haha no what thats like...:) The snowstorm in Oklahoma in 00 or 02 i believe was horrible! We didn't have power for two weeks!

  • I was in cheektowaga haha it was awesome

  • I lost power for 8 days..and my basement flooded with 2 feet of water.

  • my 2nd storm , i live in buffalo omg i remeber my big willow tree, insteed the branches up they were down and it was like 1 in the morning i went outside and i i seen was a branch fall on a wire and light it on fire and started sparking , i was omg i ran in , and then i remember me and my friend wer outside and all i seen was the street lights go , black , worst 1 week and a half without power

  • it may not look like much but what made it a bad storm was the fact that it was the first week in OCTOBER and the trees still had all their leaves. the snow piled up on the leaves and branches and whole trees started coming down like crazy. i remember standing at the edge of some woods and every 2 minutes or so a huge branch or tree would come crashing down, and the sky kept lighting up blue as different transformers blew.

  • The weird thing was that like a week or two later, it was almost completely gone until late November.

  • same thing. haha.

  • I feel bad for people that had bad stuff happen to them in this. For me it was mostly beer by the fire place hanging out.

  • i was one of the lucky ones because for some reason i had power but it was a fucking mess.

  • we had now power for two weeks!! and after the ice and snow melted the creek in front of our house overflowed!!!! And the water was like4 feet deep!!!!

  • oh my god i don't understand it , we do get snow in england, but alot of the time it's really cold but instead of snow it just rains we hav'nt had a power cut that was longer that 5 minuites in about 5 years

  • i live in hamburg n i remember that nite at 12am the power went out when i was driving in this mess n stayed up thru the nite n the morning that storm was crazy,

  • I'm originally from Buffalo. It looks to me like none of this footage was actually shot in the city, but one of the suburbs.

  • yes this is not directly in buffalo, this is in elma just south east of the city.

  • I know Elma pretty well, I worked at the Schoellkopf Scout Camp in the late '80's and would pass through on my way out there.

Did anyone ever do anything with the old Motorola Plant?

  • @osirisascending your right i was in blasedell at the time. that what it looks like

  • gahhh!!!! original music not allowed , sry

  • we got so much snow here I went to my great aunt's house to keep warm while the rest of my family stayed home with no power hehehe :)

  • this is what generators are really for. hahah

  • I live in amherst. I remember taking a measurement of like 27 inches. It was crazy. No power for 2 weeks. No school for 3 weeks!

  • that must have ben cold i like that song

  • that house covered in snow looks straight outta a movie shot didnt know that much snow piling up on a roof wouldnt cave in. probably specially built for conditions

  • i dint think they are specially built, they can handel probly another foot before some poeple roofs would start running into problems

  • ya u buffalo people always get the most snow. LUCKY!!!! i wish i lived there well in the chicago area we still get alota snow.

  • No power for 8 days. But man it was a cool experience.

  • exactly how i feel, but i ended up volunteering at a nursing home, my mom worked at, so i managed to stay warm while doing some good for others.

  • Blasdell got hit pretty good too...I literally had a wall of branches on the side of my house.

  • kool!!!!!!!

  • i was having so much fun in that heavy snow, about 5 hours later i got screwed. no power limited amount of water. man it sucked

  • OCTOBER???

    wtf? that's too early

we got a few flakes of snow in october 30th in South Texas once.. was nyts i tell

  • for the reccord east aurora got the most snow i live in southern elma on the boarder of ea

  • Boston got hit really hard, and UB closed down for 2 days (first time in 20 years)

  • dude my power was out for a week, williamsville definitly got it the worst of everyone other than the city.

  • Reminds me of the good old days in Austria! =)

  • I wore shorts to work that day.....Man, by 5:00pm I was getting worried.....

  • you didnt get it that bad. You should have seen Amherst, and williamsville was also pretty bad, but not like amherst. I lost power for 15 days. It sucked :(

  • Oh, I know. I live in Amherst and we managed to get out the next day, barely, and then my uncle come back in to try and save the food in the fridge and he said it was like when they went to florida after a hurricane. He couldn't believe it. He lives in Lockport and they got almost nothing.

  • hah i live in williamsville ?amherst and i only lost power for like 6 hours

  • I remember we used to get snow like that (or worse) in Scotland .... Not seen anything like that for over 10 years. Damn global warming :(

    Superb vid well done

  • i want to go there. thats soo cool

  • does anyone know where this is? it says it is in buffalo but it looks more like East aurora or springville. those towns look just like it. i dont see any big buildings or suburbs!

  • its in elma(between lancaster and EA) i just said buffalo to generalize it

  • Actually it hit all of those places and more! I should know 'cause I'm from Cheektowaga.

  • Cheektowaga got nailed hard.

  • Yeah. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' house. At least they have a fireplace.

  • Just yesterday, we had a snowstorm, now they're issuing a SNOWSTORM WATCH until Friday evening. WHEN IS IT GOING TO END?!?!?!

  • That looks like a lot of fun...I want to run and jump into a huge pile, damn global warming!

  • I had power the first three days then they cut it off for 6 to fix the grid. That was crazy. The video really shows the feeling in the sky, It was like a dream.

  • i know it sucked but come on the last generation had the 77 blizzard now we have our own storm!! it sucked cleaning up but once again everyone in this city helped out their neighbors. I love living here!!

  • i wish i was there

  • Haha great video. I didn't realize how epic the storm would be. Funny since almost a year from that we had 80degree weather. Man i love buffalo.

  • And a year after on Oct 8 07 it was like 32 celsius(90 fahrenheit) in Toronto. I think Buffalo had similar weather that day too.

Quite wierd how the weather works out some time.
