The only problem I have with a manual transmission is you have to take your foot of the gas. There are techniques, such as riding the clutch, but it wears down the clutch fast.
C Max (USA), Trucks with console mounted, and Focus have different methods.
Focus: Activated by pressing the manual shift buttons on the shifter. De-activated when you reach the highest or lowest gear and upshift (high) or downshift (low) from those gears.
Trucks with console mounted shift: Move to M and use buttons. Deactivation is done by moving back to D, 2, or 1.
C Max: From D, move to the passenger side. This enables manual. Upshifting is moving up while in manual, downshifting is down
@thekkl But EVERY OTHER automaker includes it in their automatic transmissions [except Honda], including Hyundai-Kia, I just don't see the point in not giving us the option.
@PLxFTW I want a clutch too. I miss manual transmissions. I bought a 2011 F150 and it has this feature. Kind of a waste of engineering to me. The F150 doesn't have paddles. You have switch on the shifter column. I love my truck but this is just a dumb idea. The rest of the world has manual transmissions, why can't America have them? Are we so dumb and lazy that we can't even be trusted to shift our own gears?
Why not just use the normal Stick one?
It may increase fuel consumption, but it is FUN!

I feel like if you can't drive stick with a clutch you shouldn't be able to drive

@TheKtm300rider Indeed, anything other than stick with a clutch ruins the fun of driving...
and the disaster which I am afraid of, that is MOST new cars, even race ones come only with Automatic or Semi-automatic editions...
Even Japanese cars are, Nissan GT-R doesn't come with a manual option anymore...

I want the next generation of the V6 or GT Mustang if it has this feature.

Why the heck can't we just have a clutch, isn't that the fun part? Having everything done for you is whats wrong with the cars nowadays.

Why is Ford so reluctant to offer SelectShift??
banstaman 1 year ago
@banstaman My guess is that it's expensive, and seeing as how Fords target demographic isn't the megawealthy...
