Amazing heart from Sorjaturong. A lesser opponent would definetly have been knocked out or stopped in rounds 5 or 6 due to the huge punishment that Chiquita was dishing out, but he hung in there, and got his reward. Great fight. Thanks for uploading.

gonzalez only lost 3 times, and every time he was ahead, and got caught with a big shot in the middle rounds: carbajal, pascua, and sorjaturong. he did the smart thing, and retired after this one. in the hall of fame now.

Don't forget asians have great achievement in fighting sports as follows; 1) There are many japanese gold medalists of Judo, Wrestling, and weightlifting in Olympic, especially men at heavy and the heaviest class such as Yamashita, Uemura, Inoue, Suzuki, Date, Park, Lu and Zhang. The world benchpress champion (the heaviest class; over 125kg bodyweight) is a Japanese man Daisuke Midote with his world record 435kg on squat and 370kg on benchpress.
Continue from my previous comment. Japan have Judo, Jiujitsu, Karate, Sumo and Kendo as Japanese original sports. Judo is olympic sport, and Jiujitsu is the mainstream of UFC. Look at the UFC. There are many UFC champions from Japanese sports like Frank Mir, GSP, BJPenn, Nogueira, and Anderson Silva from Jiujitsu, Fedor from Judo, Lyoto Machida, Chuck Liddell, Bas Rutten from Karate. Even Brazilian Jiujitsu and Russian Sambo are the Offshoots of Japanese Jiujitsu.
bullshit, puto... all your legendary mexicano fighters got BEATEN by one Asian man. One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!! One man!!
Yeah, but who has the edge? Mexicans and Latinos have more wins over the weak Asians haha. name me so Asians hall of fame boxers? I don't know any!! I can give you a list of legendary Mexicans hall of fame and Latinos hall of fame boxers. We are just better than you at this sport. Admit it
Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Ricardo Lopez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Ruben Olivares, Jorge Paez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Rafael Marquez, Israel Vasquez, Humberto Gonzalez, Guadalupe Pintor, Carlos Zarate and I can keep going on naming CHAMPIONS from Mexico. Not to mention the many Mexican-American Champions. There is no way in hell Asian boxers will ever out-do/out-perform Mexican Fighters in Boxing, let alone all other Latinos.
I disagree, I don't think race has anything to do with it. I do think however, that Asia has always had more diverse forms of martial arts apart from boxing. Its not to say that Asia hasn't had great champions, its just that Asian Boxers haven't ever been promoted in the U.S. History shows that even when Asian Boxers do well in U.S, they don't draw well in Western media. Today, with a bigger Worldwide Media and a dirth of U.S Boxers, Asians, as well as other Cultures are producing fighters.
There are still plenty of Mexican and other Latino prospects on the rise making our presence in the sport of Boxing felt. As far as promotion goes, any fighter outside the U.S. has to work harder to be known. Whether it's knocking ppl out, having the longest winning streak, or appealing to the public by going toe-to-toe for 12 rounds. If a fighter does not please the crowd, no matter how good he is, it wont matter because he wont be known...Media is to blame, but so is the fighter.
For you to think that just because one culture has produced more known fighters makes it better than others is ignorant and ludicrous. I don't care for Pacquiao fans either, they honestly believe that their man is better just because he's Filipino. Proof-where were they to support Navarrete, Dado, Ganigan, Elorde, etal. Fact-Boxing has its OWN market in Asia. Fact-There are tons of Asian Champions that you have never heard of.
History also shows that Latino and other fighters do not do well fighting in Asia and vice versa. There's a huge adjustment period going from this hemisphere to the East. When was the last time you went to an Asian Country? It is why there will NEVER be a Latino Champion in Karate, Thai Boxing, Judo, etc. The qeue of names you list are/were great, but I could produce names of Asian Champions as well. I don't think you could.
Oh, and by the way, if you don't like Pacman and other Asian fighters( and only like Mexican fighters) you should either 1.Pick another sport to like. or 2.Get used to it. Also, there are fewer Mexican fighters today and the sport is dropping off there. Mexicans haven't been promoting Boxing there as much. Asia, with the success of Pacman, have been getting promotion. Its the same in Eastern European markets as well(albeit, more gradual).
I'm actually a Pacman fan, we are not talking about any other contact sport, we are talking about Boxing. I cant name any Asian champions besides Pacman and Donaire, the reason for that is because your OTHER Asian champs have not fought anyone that is known or of importance in the sport of Boxing. I am not trying to personally say that Men from Mexican ancestry are GREAT Boxing athletes, OUR HISTORY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.
Listen, many asians with physical size and strength go to judo, wrestling, and weightlifting. They DON'T go to boxing. So there are many asian gold medalists of judo, wrestling and weightlifting in Olympic, especially men at the heaviest class, as Yamashita, Uemura, Inoue, Suzuki, Ha Hyongju in Judo, Date, Munkhbat, Park in Wrestling, Lu and Zhan in weightlifting. The world benchpress champion is a Japanese man Midote with his world record (435kg on squat, 370kg on benchpress).
Ok, if the if the people that you mention are not involved in boxing, then why do you mention them in this page? Besides, i;m not saying that an Asian fighter can't beat a Latino fighter. What i'm saying is that we've made the bigger contribution to the sport and it will be a long time before anyone else can top that. it's basically been Latino and African American fighters that have made boxing what it is.
Continue from my previous comment.. In addition,Japan has original sports as Judo, JiuJitsu, Karate, Sumo, and Kendo. Brazilian Jiujitsu and Russian Sambo are the offshoots of Japanese original Jiujitsu, since Russian Sambo is based on Japanese Jiujitsu spread by Japanese coach to Russian Army, and Brazilian Jiujitsu is based on Japnese Jiujitsu spread to Brazil by Japanese immigrant to Brazil Mitsuyo Maeda. So the origin of Jiujitsu is Japan. Then Muaythaiand Kickboxing isThai.
Another continue from my comment.. Look at UFC. There are many UFC champion from Japanese sport (martial arts) such as Frank Mir, Nogueira, GSP, BJPenn, A-Silva from Jiujitsu, Fedor from Judo, Bas Rutten, Lyoto Machida, Chuck Liddell from Karate. Then, Mirko Crocop, Brandon Vera, Maurice Smith are from Kickboxing. Then, many mexican hero you listed got defeated by asians. Julio Chavez lost to half-asian Tszyu, Barrera, Morales, Marquez lost to Pacquiao. Pintor lost to Samart.
Then another another continue from my commment.. Akinobu Hiranaka defeated Edwin Rosario at 1R TKO, then Nobuo Nashiro defeated Martin Castillo at 10R TKO, then Tsuyoshi Hamada defeated Rene Arredondo at 1R KO.
@muaythai4ko so are you saying that your asian man defeated men legendary boxers like ricardo el finito lopez, salvador sanchez, or julio cesar chavez? there's a big difference between morales and finito lopez or barrera and chavez. your asian guy lost to morales and it could have lost to JMM that fight was stole from him.
actually, Samart is new to boxing here, having spent the greater part of his career as a Muay Thai fighter. his Muay Thai record is immense. to turn to boxing at this point in his career is an accomplishment in itself.
I really think if thais and filipinos fight with more confidence and guts they could totally dominate lower divisions. These guys have a perfect body for boxing.
The first EVER LOSS of Chiquita Gonzalez was dealt upon by a FILIPINO NAMED ROLANDO PASCUA he was knockout cold in round 8!! That was one of Ring's Magazine's greatest upset of all time!
I disagree with the guy that said Saman beat a washed up Humberto. U guys are forgetting that Humberto just got the biggest victory of his career by beating Carbajal in a rematch by ud.
tekelets you are so fukcin stupid you dont know shit about boxing, asian boxers are strong but no stronger that mexican or latino boxers, dont believe that shit just because a few asian boxers had win against latino fighters
c'mon guys...it's all good. This is just an old, washed up "Chiquita" against a young Saman. In "Chiquitas" prime....Saman wounldn't have lasted that long.
no one really nos the quality of asian fighters and they should its because noone really pays attention to the samll weights like flyweight and minimumweight those weights have included some of the best scraps of all time and not a lot of people no that and the asians dominate those weights
A huevo jlgomez que putiza le pararon a la puta chiquita no mames estoy q me cago de la risa jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaj =p sobate chiqita no mames cabron,
This fight deserves to be fight of the year. This bout made Chiquita to stop his career. Chiquita will not want to remember this scene in his life. God bless Chiquita!
i remember watching this fight live and recording it on vhs.. my family is thai so you can imagine just how excited we were to see saman win.. it was one of the most exciting fights that ive watched.. this fight gives a prime example of why boxing is great.. some time after recording this fight i lost the video tape.. this really brings back memories so thanks for posting it..
saman was too cautious in the early rounds and got knocked down twice he knew if didn't turn loose or get knocked down again in round 7 the referee might stop the fight therefore he go for broke charge and paid off big time for him
People say Chiquita did underestimate Saman and he paid so big for that.
But i think he didn't do that big mistake. cuz he and everyone watching this fight including me thought that Saman already in his hand, he can do whatever he want to him. but Saman's got unbelieveable backup energy. How can he became strong like that after absorbed those tremendous pains in Rd 5&6.
Chiquita was easily winning this fight, but then he loves to slug it out for the fans and that gets him in trouble, since he don't mind taking a punch. Ricardo Lopez ko'd Sorjaturong when they fought.
I don't think finito has a big concern with this fight.
It's different weight class and it's 2 years before this. Anyway if you want to interpolate like that, your statement has confirm Finito is by far better than Chiquita.

But he lost title fights to Mexicans Melchor Cob Castro (TKO 10) and Julio Cesar Borboa (TKO 10)

I disagree with the guy that said Saman beat a washed up Humberto. U guys are forgetting that Humberto just got the biggest victory of his career by beating Carbajal in a rematch by ud.

c'mon guys...it's all good. This is just an old, washed up "Chiquita" against a young Saman. In "Chiquitas" prime....Saman wounldn't have lasted that long.

This is NOT upset.
Saman is stronger than Gonzalez. thats all.
American, Mexican boxing fans dont know about asian boxing's level.
under bantam weight, asian is stronger than american and mexican.

no one really nos the quality of asian fighters and they should its because noone really pays attention to the samll weights like flyweight and minimumweight those weights have included some of the best scraps of all time and not a lot of people no that and the asians dominate those weights

ricardo lopez dominated all asians he faced wether filipinos, tailands, koreans japanese... all of them were dominated by lopez

This fight deserves to be fight of the year. This bout made Chiquita to stop his career. Chiquita will not want to remember this scene in his life. God bless Chiquita!

saman was too cautious in the early rounds and got knocked down twice he knew if didn't turn loose or get knocked down again in round 7 the referee might stop the fight therefore he go for broke charge and paid off big time for him

People say Chiquita did underestimate Saman and he paid so big for that.
But i think he didn't do that big mistake. cuz he and everyone watching this fight including me thought that Saman already in his hand, he can do whatever he want to him. but Saman's got unbelieveable backup energy. How can he became strong like that after absorbed those tremendous pains in Rd 5&6.
maybe his diamond heart did it.

@benqmp3 May i translate this comment ?
