I yelled out where is that fucking trash talk now Assholes. Not one word they left quickly. Alabama rolled over the windy blow hards.
Greatest College Football Game in History!!! This should be the headlines for this game. Wow! The Miami receivers had been bragging how much faster they were than Alabama's defensive backs; well Teague made em look REAL BAD!!!!!!!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND (1993 SUGAR BOWL) A CLIP OF THE MIAMI RECEIVER BELIEVING HE SCORED A TD AND DOES A BACK FLIP, BUT BEHIND HIM THE REF IS SIGNALLING 'NO GOOD', SO THE BAMA DEFENDER STEPS IN FRONT OF THE U RECEIVER, SIGNALS 'NO GOOD' AND DOES A BACK FLIP OF HIS OWN??? @coolsouthernrain75 Backed down?put the crack pipe down son.Miami isn't scared of anyone and they've never backed down from anyone.they got their ass kicked in that game.you can't win em' all no matter how great you are.Miami didn't show up...Alabama did...it's that simple!
"Miami has always backed down when someone looked them in the eye."
That maybe the most stupidest and most ignorant comment i've ever read.how does a team win 5 titles in 18 years backing down?stupid fool!
@m2diggs .....It's very simple.Miami tries to intimidate other teams with their "Cane mentality" i.e. "Gangster" and it worked because most teams they played didn't have the talent they had. When their opponents had the same talent level (Alabama,LSU,Ohio St.,etc) they backed down.
5 titles in 18 years? They had the best team in 3 of those seasons max.
@coolsouthernrain75 You have no clue what your talking about.Florida State,Notre Dame and Oklahoma(33-3 in 3 years...all loses were to Miami) were all on the same level talent wise and Miami beat those 3 more often than not.and that Miami team that got creamed by LSU was nowhere near elite status so you might as well cancel that game out.as for Alabama,i seem to recall Miami beating them in the same vicinity a couple years earlier to the 93 Sugar Bowl.
@coolsouthernrain75 Care to elaborate the 2 title team that were the best?the 91 Miami team had more victories against ranked opponents than Washington and 83 Miami beat probably the most dominant regular season team in history in Nebraska.look at the results from Nebraska's games in 83 as proof.they deserved all 5 titles they won.can't say the same for Alabama last year considering how weak the talent pool was last year and you barely beat a tExas squad with their 2nd string QB.
@m2diggs ......The 1983 Miami team wasn't even the best team in the state of Florida that year..In 1991 Washington played a more impressive schedule and won a real conference. Now that Miami's in a real conference they're no longer relevant.
@coolsouthernrain75 83 Miami wasn't the best team in the State than who was?lemme guess the Gators?lol please son!
Miami's strength of schedule was equal to Washington(look it up).the tie breaker here is that Miami beat more ranked opponents than Washington (4-3).look it up!!!
Miami has always been in real conferences.Virginia Tech,Syracuse,West Virginia and Boston College were no pushovers when Miami was in the Big East.seriously, you don't know what you're talking about.
@m2diggs ..........Florida beat Miami 28-3 in 1983.The only ranked team Miami beat in '83 was West Virginia (#16).The only ranked team Nebraska beat in '83 was UCLA (#17). Then they played each other.Auburn beat FOUR top 15 teams in '83 including Florida.....the best team in the state of Florida that year.
@coolsouthernrain75 Miami beat West Virginia and #1 ranked Nebraska.Nebraska beat 4th ranked Penn State and 20th ranked Oklahoma State.get your facts str8.Florida lost 2 games and tied another in 1983 so how the hell was Florida the better team?what overall records don't mean anything to you?should I bring up the head to head victories between the two since 83?oh yea,the following year Miami beat #1 Auburn in the own house.
@m2diggs .....I caught you in a lie.Penn St. was not #4 in '83.They only went 8-4 and they lost to Iowa....a team Florida beat.Florida lost to Auburn and Georgia....two Top 5 football teams. And 1984 has nothing to do with 1983..
@coolsouthernrain75 You didn't catch me in anything.try using the web for a change.Penn State was ranked 4th in the nation when Nebraska beat them in the season opener which i believe was played in the Meadow lands.1894 has something to do with it.you claim Auburn to be a better team than Miami in 83 and Miami showed it doubters by beating them in their own back yard the following year.Miami got the title because they beat the best regular season team of all time and the AP agreed.case closed.
@m2diggs ........Another lie.Miami beat Auburn in 1984 at the Meadowlands.....not in Auburn's backyard. How many more lies are you going to make up? Penn St. the #4 team in the nation in 1984? @m2diggs .......Penn St. was NOT the #4 team in the nation in 1983.They went 8-4 and finished out of the Top 20.It was not a great win.The ONLY team that Nebraska beat in 83 that finished ranked was UCLA.Thus they were overrated. It's not that hard to figure out.
@coolsouthernrain75 Are you illiterate?did you not see what I sent you?can you not comprehend that Penn State was ranked 4th when they played Nebraska?UCLA was winless so how in the blue hell where they ranked?where the fuck are you getting your info from because it's way off!
Nebraska beat 2 ranked opponents that year.one was Penn State and the other was Oklahoma State.try google for a change.it's helps from making you look foolish.
@m2diggs ...I never said Florida should be the champs in 83.The best team in 1983 was Auburn, who won FOUR games against teams that FINISHED in the Top 15 and beat 7 bowl teams altogether.
One of Bears boy's Howard Schnellenberger built Miami from nothing, Bama used to play Miami on home coming games .This game may have reminded them their rightful place in college football.
@Jokadamasta Yes Nebraska has one of the longest 9+ win streak. Yes Miami had the 80s and early 90s before they were given probation. Here's the thing about Nebraska, they went to 3 straight and won 2 and another in 1997. The 80s they went and lost, and the 70s they had national titles back to back. Miami also has five national titles dating back to 1981. So is Nebraska the better dynasty? If you considered how many years they won then yes.
The "U" thought they were some bad boys up until they ran into Antonio Langham and the rest of the Tide. I loved watching the 'Canes getting the shit knocked out of them. 'Bama D doesn't play around.
i think the U had to eventually come to an end and DIE this was the first dagger next was West Virginia then Arizona kicking the shit out of em and then their precious home winning streak went down to the hands of Washington and then Nebraska yes Nebraska the team which probably is the most responsible for the U getting so Dam popular because the '84 Orange Bowl 2 Point Conversion-miss finally got revenge and put the U out of their misery 10 years later at that same bowl game karma is a bitch
its great when you can only name 3 notable games that supposedly ended miami....miami was on a 15 year run!!! who else has done that?? all streaks come to an end and all dynasties come to an end. what about all the games in between that miami just literally housed teams like west virginia, nebraska and arizona??? all the teams that made history by beating miami had already been beating if not once then more than once by miami.
nebraska didnt make miami....miami made themselves...miami was already climbing...in 1981 miami beat penn state, florida, notre dame and FSU. how is karma a bitch??? they lost...they have to deal with the fact that they were beating teams by 60 that year in 83' and was labeled "the best all time" look at the scores of the 83' huskers it will blow your mind...if miami beats you you lose no karma involved. everybody is jealous of miami if your team was that good you would love it.
hell yeah baby r u tellin me that we made tebow cry, put the biggest beat down on florida made meyer quit his job get a heisman winner, and win the national title all in 1 year? RAMMER JAMMER
I'm a UT fan, but that game was up there as one of the best beat downs by an underdog of all time. It was almost as if that game sent the entire program on a tail spin for the rest of the decade... great stuff. Not sure why this game was left off of "30 on 30"... what happened to the '86 Sugar Bowl footage too...
I like Miami but the 'Canes did do a lot of trash talking leading up to this game. Lamar Thomas said... Alabama was a "relic from the past, Miami is the future." Mmm,Okay...
If you know about Miami, or watched "the U" on Espn, you know that Howard Schnellenberger rescued the football program and installed the things they needed to be great. Howard Schnellenberger was a Bear Bryant boy. Played for him at Kentucky and coached for him 15 years at 'Bama
Miami had a good program. They were as good as it gets from the 80's into the early 90's. They had a good team during the 90's and then another great team in '01 and '02. ...but the greatest football program of all time , is the TIDE
Always remember watching this game and being SHOCKED at how the Tide dominated Miami after they had just squeaked past the Gators (28-21). Although as an FSU fan, I'm convinced my Noles were better than the Canes at the end of that '92 season, despite losing a close one to them earlier in the year. Later in the season, we put Charlie Ward in the shotgun and became unstoppable (beat UF 45-24). Impressive display by Bama although I always felt FSU vs. Bama would've been a lot more interesting.
Some of the Miami players before the game said Alabama didn't deserve to be on the same field as Miami. THEY WERE RIGHT. Alabama deserved to play a quality opponent
I love how last night the 30 for 30 just complyetely skped this year!! haha i Guess the players being interviwed said. "o shit please skip that year don't show it! sure enough they complyetely skipped that year hahah RTR
As Miami fan for 25 years, that was painful to watch. Miami had survived without a running game all year but against Copeland, Curry & the rest of that Alabama D it finally caught up with them. Still though Miami had already won 4 titles & lost in 3 other title games ('86 Sugar to Tennesse, '87 Fiesta to Penn St. including this one. Thats pretty impressive & probably won't be matched for a while.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
whatever 4 championships was enough for us haha canes got more swag then any program fuck the tide fuck every other program the U got the swag and now we back
yeah how about it. a midget couldve blocked that kick. if the goal post were ten yards away and the cross bar was 2 feet high it would have gone in and tennessee would have won 13-12
College kills the Pro game in Alabama, that is why we can not get enough momentum to bring in a Pro team. The Barons (AA Minors Affiliate to the Chicago White Sox) are equally entrenched with the Tide and Auburn as mainstays. You can not pull those Fan Bases away (with the Barons having probably the smallest fan base amongst the 3). We have tried with Football and Hockey (minor league types) and failed miserably because why watch any of that when you can watch the Tide Roll or the Eagle cry
NEW ORLEANS -- Miami is No. 1. It will stay that way.
Alabama doesn't have a hope, or a prayer, or a shot in the dark of upsetting the Hurricanes for the national championship in tonight's Sugar Bowl. And it won't even be close. Alabama will be trounced, clobbered, mauled, devastated, humiliated and left for dead. Tonight the Tide won't roll. It will roll over.
Miami was a fine team, but they had one weakness which wasn't exposed completely up until this game. That is, their offensive line. And Alabama's defense, which remains one of the best ever, ate them up.
That was THE best game in the history of college football as far as I'm concerned. There were so many great plays by Alabama. It was made all that much sweeter by the way Miami's punk ass players acted before the game and even the night before. Walking around in army fatigues talking trash. SHIT - The Tide acted with so much class and then gave them the ass kicking of a lifetime ON THE FIELD where it counts. Gino Toretta won the heisman but couldn't even get a job in the NFL after that game!
Alabama doesn't have a large enough city imo to uphold a sports team, Nuff said, Only maybe The MLB, NFL out of the question. No one lives in Birmingham it won't have near the fan base. Birmingham is the largest city in bama and still is smaller than most large citys in other states, But bama also holds 2--3 of the best Highschool football teams around the Birmingham district. It definatley has the talent for an NFL team. Just not a fan base.
Ass head. LA the second largest city in the US does not havea pro football team. The Alaama fans are the most loyal and gracious of any in the nation. GEta clue yanky boy
This video was so much better with the Kenny Wayne Shepherd tune in it. Just for the record, taking an already done video and sticking your own music behind it does not usually come out as well as the original.
You really show your football intelligence squaretite. Bama's got the most bowl appearences, most sec championships and 12 NATIONAL TITLES! Does the U even got half that? So before you quote this is FOOTBALL to Bama fans, know your fucking history! (and the U's place WWAAAYYY behind Bama in the record books)
And OKLAHOMA has the longest winning streak in NCAA history with 47 dumbshit!
Do not talk shit with inferior stats and don't talk shit when you don't know what the hell you're talking about
I was in the Super Dome that night and it was LOUD! It was almost as loud as the Miami's players voices in the French Quarter as they boasted about how they were going to embarass the Crimson Tide. That victory was such sweet satisfaction! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!
They were allowed to celebrate because it was an exception instead of your typical showboating thug tactics always diplayed by Miami. Every football fan except miami fans know that this is miamis m.o.and it would not suprise anyone to someday see a front and side shot of most of the miami thugs at the post office. miami=punks. Alabama=class.
I'm a Hurricane fan but this was a great defensive performance by the tide. I was a soph in high school when I saw this game. Funny how 'Bama's players were allowed to celebrate with no penalty. One of the best defenses I've ever seen (along with '91 Wash, '89-'91' & '01 Miami, and '95 Nebraska). Does anybody have film of the '89 sugar bowl???
I remember watching this game. Nobody in the Media had Bama. Well, they kicked the hell outta Miami, the score didn't show how bad. Good luck this season, see you in Oxford.
laxboy, speaking of academics, I think the correct way to end your sentence would have been with an "are." I see now how good Miami's academics ARE! Dumbass. ROLL TIDE!!
I'm an Auburn fan but I swear this was one of the best games I've ever seen in my life! Mr Heisman Trophy's face when all 11 guys on Bama's defense were on the line and he goes...uh uh time out!! LOL
Hey Laxboy the elephant's the mascot because the defensive line at Alabama used to be so big compared to other teams in that day that they were called the elephant line and then it grew into the mascot for the whole team. The Crimson Tide comes from a swarming defense that people said looked like the tides were rolling in when they made a tackle and they were obviously wearing crimson so therefore you get crimson tide. How about you know what your talking about before you make posts.
I was kind of young then, but I remember watching the game with my dad. Didn't Stallings play a 10 man defensive front at some points during this game?
Yep. Totally scrambled Toretta's noggin, too. He went under center, started calling the snap, Bama's defense called an audible - and suddenly there are ten crmson jerseys on the line of scrimmage. Toretta looked around and said, "Uh, time out!" That one wasn't on the films. ;) He went on to throw four interceptions.
in 1930 sports writer Everett Strupper of the Atlanta Journal, wrote a story of the Bama-ole Miss game.. He wrote At the end of the quarter, the earth started to tremble, there was a distant rumble that continued to grow, Some excited fan in the stands bellowed, "Hold your horses, the elephants are comming," and out stomped the Alabama Varsity, sports writers from then on refered to the bama line as the Red Elephants, thats how bama got its idea for a mascot. Tradition is Life Roll Tide..
I lived in Tuscaloosa Aub beat UA 6 X running Bryant cheated The U is private-no gov't funds Aub, Rutgers, GA coaches-all from The U More pros from The U than any col In 06 The U had the most 1A f-ball grads The U's baseball always in the playoffs The U lost 4 X as many championships as UA played since '80 In 1/03 The U's f-ball record-best in all of sports since '80 The U has won by showing up--teams REMEMBER when they beat The U But Alabama? Well- Why NOT beat Alabama?
Miami was outright BAD from 94 through 98 due to probation. Alabama has had two probations for violations invovling ONLY THREE PLAYERS that has cost them 60+ scholarships, being hit harder than any team in NCAA history all together over 3 friggin' kids. Bama had 10 win plus seasons (including the bowls) in 93, 94, 96, 99, 01, 05. They only have missed bowls in 97' and 00' and 03', the years they were in "the heart" of sanctions. Look for a decent year this year, and a great one next year
Well WWA, you will now because the 'Canes will never be what they were before. RS is a good coach but not a championship coach. The 'Noles are in the same boat. The Gators are the team to beat in Florida. SEC Rules! ROLL TIDE!!
Mediocre to ridiculous? Alabama has never been mediocre. They have been subpar over last 8 years because of probation and poor coaching. The Alabama program is by far not mediocre or ridiculous and has never been. On a side note. The music is Kenny Wayne Shepperd. He is a blues/rock musician and a very good one. I actually thought the song was fitting for how the Alabama defence which was the best defence ever completely dominated the miami's unstoppable offence.
I was there...unbelievable is all I got! Beat the who.

If you considered how many years they won then yes.

i bet you did because you're ass is still sore from miami beating you like a drum.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
i think the U had to eventually come to an end and DIE this was the first dagger next was West Virginia then Arizona kicking the shit out of em and then their precious home winning streak went down to the hands of Washington and then Nebraska yes Nebraska the team which probably is the most responsible for the U getting so Dam popular because the '84 Orange Bowl 2 Point Conversion-miss finally got revenge and put the U out of their misery 10 years later at that same bowl game karma is a bitch
MikeDonte21 2 years ago 3
its great when you can only name 3 notable games that supposedly ended miami....miami was on a 15 year run!!! who else has done that?? all streaks come to an end and all dynasties come to an end. what about all the games in between that miami just literally housed teams like west virginia, nebraska and arizona??? all the teams that made history by beating miami had already been beating if not once then more than once by miami.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
nebraska didnt make miami....miami made themselves...miami was already climbing...in 1981 miami beat penn state, florida, notre dame and FSU. how is karma a bitch??? they lost...they have to deal with the fact that they were beating teams by 60 that year in 83' and was labeled "the best all time" look at the scores of the 83' huskers it will blow your mind...if miami beats you you lose no karma involved. everybody is jealous of miami if your team was that good you would love it.

I'm a UT fan, but that game was up there as one of the best beat downs by an underdog of all time. It was almost as if that game sent the entire program on a tail spin for the rest of the decade... great stuff. Not sure why this game was left off of "30 on 30"... what happened to the '86 Sugar Bowl footage too...
gaslightstreet 2 years ago
I like Miami but the 'Canes did do a lot of trash talking leading up to this game. Lamar Thomas said... Alabama was a "relic from the past, Miami is the future." Mmm,Okay...

If you know about Miami, or watched "the U" on Espn, you know that Howard Schnellenberger rescued the football program and installed the things they needed to be great. Howard Schnellenberger was a Bear Bryant boy. Played for him at Kentucky and coached for him 15 years at 'Bama
scottard69 2 years ago
Miami had a good program. They were as good as it gets from the 80's into the early 90's. They had a good team during the 90's and then another great team in '01 and '02. ...but the greatest football program of all time , is the TIDE

I'm surprised "The U" did not tell about this game, because this ruined miami's recruiting. Believe it or not, but it did.
Gino Toretta was going for the 2nd national title in a row, after winning the heisman. He fell far from short in this game.
BamafeverRolltide94 2 years ago
Always remember watching this game and being SHOCKED at how the Tide dominated Miami after they had just squeaked past the Gators (28-21). Although as an FSU fan, I'm convinced my Noles were better than the Canes at the end of that '92 season, despite losing a close one to them earlier in the year. Later in the season, we put Charlie Ward in the shotgun and became unstoppable (beat UF 45-24). Impressive display by Bama although I always felt FSU vs. Bama would've been a lot more interesting.

"Miami will blow away Alabama"
Los Angeles Daily News article by Michael Ventre
Jan. 1, 1993

And Alabama's defense, which remains one of the best ever, ate them up.
gymman1031 2 years ago

Didn't Stallings play a 10 man defensive front at some points during this game?
justarandomguy80 3 years ago
