Marble Zone is an awesome zone I have loved it since I was a little kid. I wouldn't change the order of the zones in Sonic 1 they are perfect. The only thing I would have as a wish is one more stage with 3 acts (Jungle Zone).

Marble Zone's my favorite level from the first game =O I hate how in Unleashed it's basically just blazing through the levels. Sonic's supposed to be focused on platforming with speed as his gimmick. But there are still Badniks in Adventure and Adventure 2 o.o and they're called Egg Pods in the game just so you know, not Roboticizers. In the games he just uses animals as batteries for the Badniks. It's just SatAM and the comics that turns the animals into robots.

Oh really Clement? You know, if Spring Yard was the second level, and then marble, and then labrinyth, it would not have been any different. People would still be complaining about how slow it is, how they hate the game because they can't get past one single level. Why? BECAUSE SONIC FANBOYS ARE FANBOYS! In many cases, Sonic Fanboys just want every game to be 2-D, and to be fast.

In my oppinion, the level order should have been this:

Green Hill Zone, Spring Yard Zone, Marble Zone,

Labyrinth Zone, Scrap Brain Zone, Star Light Zone

This is because the speed changing (pacing) would have been more gradual.

Fast, Medium, Slow, Slow, Medium, Fast.

The actual game is: Fast, Slow, Medium, Slow, Fast, Medium.

@brianshrode72 Star light is way too beautiful to be a final stage...and it's pretty easy. The last level in most Sonic games aren't just run fast and have a fun time. Scrap Brain's difficulty and pace makes it a perfect last stage.

Honestly, new Sonic is more of what I like. I understand you may perfer the Genesis series, but that doesn't mean the Modern games suck completely. Growing up on the Dreamcast and up, Modern Sonic to me is, well, Sonic. I prefer the changes made now than before, like talking, 3D platforming and "Eggman." As long as it says Sonic on the game, it's indifferent.

marble zone is a gigantic pain in the ass and its likely it was meant to be later in the game as is the case with many zones in sonic games. i think chemical plant is one of the zones that were originally towards the end

Someone's probably said it already, i'm not scrolling through the whole list of comments, but those tanks at the end of third acts are really called Prison Eggs (according to Sonic 2's manual anyway). The Roboticizer is only featured in the SatAM cartoon and the Archie comics. They're just holding cells, they don't turn the animals into Badniks.

All you need to press for the level select cheat is press up down left right to hear a ring sound at the start menu. After the sound hold A and press start. Clement is still right but thought I'd go into more detail.

You know it may seem like an easy boss now, but when you are 10 years old and have just completed a challenging stage, your heart is pounding, your hands are sweaty, that dramatic music plays and Dr Robotnick becomes quite a challenge, even defeating him on Act 2 is quite a rewarding accomplishment.

You are forgetting about the Spike Glitch in this game. If you land on a bed of spikes, you wont be invincible until you hit solid ground. If you land on another spike after hitting one you will get hit again, which can lead to instant death.

actually, robotnik was not intentionally a pun on his profession. Kintobor means good, peacefully angelic, and other such words in a foreign language (I think it's greek). they made it backwards to signify his evilness. (on a side note, in this same language, ovi means egg.)

Regardless, the line of the Kintobor family was written into the Sonic series after Sega's American branch had renamed Dr. Eggman as Ivo Robotnik (a play on words for his involvement with robots). Then, as the fiction expanded into other media, and they thought they needed more of a story for him, they just flipped his name and made him good.
