this is a lovely tune unfortunately on the dvd the composers name is wrong its not by henry purcell but was composed by jerimiah clarke and is known in britain as the prince of denmarks march .the tune is also known as trumpet voluntary .Theres nothing wrong with having a monarchy i dont know if theres any hapsbergs left now to take on the role of kaiser but its someone to look up to and be proud of you austrians are a proud people withgood valueswith a long history of monarchy like britain !!

die Sissi filme sind überzuckerter 50er jahre kitsch. wenn die echte Sissi die filme sehen würde, würde sie sich wahrscheinlich totlachen oder mit einem basballschläger reinhauen.

schau dir lieber mal den film Ludwig II von Visconti an (da spielt die romy auch die Sissi ....aber richtig ;D )

sehr schönes event...nur das kleid der kaiserin darstellerin is ja mal wieder ne gewollt und nicht gekonnt kreation...als designer für historische kleider ist es mir ein rätsel wiso noch nie jemand das kleid so nachschneiden kann wie es auf dem bild ist. jedesmal wenn eine als sissi auftritt sieht man so was ähnliches aber NIE eins das dem original auf dem bild entspricht...

It is quite odd that an English anthem is used here. Haydn's national hymn would be much more appropriate. As a descendent of middle class people who left Germany to escape tyrrany (?) you can keep your emporer. Franz Joseph may have been a very enlightened emporer (one of the best) he was still an emporer. We don't need emporers, kings, queens, dictators, czars any more.

@iamkwk I disagree with you. I think some countries should have emperrors, kings,queens, but with power, but for history, culture, and fairy tale stories. Not all kinns and queens are tyrans. Look on European royalties or on UK Queen Elisabeth. She always cared about people in her country and was a good Queen for them. There should be magic in the world.

Allow me to have other opinion. In fact, FJI reign was long , but he wasn´t certainly the greatest Emperor ever. In spite of being the glue that kep the Austrian Empire going, he made a series of tactic errors during his reign and caused Austria a great deal in territory losses. It seems to me that Pedro II of Brazil, his cousin , achieved in his 58 years of reign, a great deal more reputation regarding development, human rights and wisdom. But this is of course only my opinion.

@mc0558. Otto von Habsburg is alive, he's 98 yo though. he was and still is a brilliant mind, an intellectual and a true christian. A very active supporter of paneuropeism, he also influenced the creation of the Black-Yellow Alliance. Princess Regina von Sachsen-Meiningen, his wife, sadly passed away on the winter of 2010.

Since 2007, their son Karl is the head of the House of Habsburg after Otto relinquished his status.
