With the passing of the Patriot Act, the government can read emails, tap phone lines, search your belongings/property without a warrant or your consent, and arrest you indefinately without a trial IF YOU ARE CONSIDERED A TERRORIST. Attacking North Korea would cost too much money as they have a large enough military to put up at least a mediocre defense. Also, American corporations would have benefited little from an attack on North Korea, as it is not in a "worthy" area, economicially speaking (the oil region in the middle east is). Also, with the attack in the middle east, the gov was able to scare the public with an irrational fear of terrorism so they could gain more political/economic control over us

By using an identifiable, already hated upon by many, enemy, the US government was able to scare people via media. By constantly bombarding our minds with stories/photographs of suicide bombers killing innocent civilians, US soldiers, and their "plans" to "attack" America, the government has scared most people into giving up their rights for a false sense of security. This "security" is nothing more than oppression which they use to control our lives and actions...
