  • A pretty good video. It may take another three or four viewings of this, but I think I'm starting to get what the uploader here means. What a neat tutorial.

  • Journal Girl - absolutely excellent - I do like this method - very well explained THANKS for sharing !!!

    Aine

  • Hey! Thanks for sharing your techniques. I'm sure there must be a number of different ways to sew signatures together. Is there a name for this method?

  • very clear instructions! my binding is diff, this is something new. found you thru EvelineUK, glad i found you! yes, i want to see more. Thank you so much for giving this tutorial. oh, just realised this tutorial's last year! gotta check out more of your vids. Thank you again.;)

  • Thank you so much for making your videos... I can't wait to make my journal!!!! I have learned so much from you...

  • Technicalities aside ( and Rho is very good on that subject!) , I enjoyed the video and want to try one that opens flats. It's a nice alternative to a coptic binding.

  • Thanks Samantha... so that paper takes a lot of abuse with paints, water colors, etc???

  • Defiantly! I gesso before I work on a page, and can throw anything at it....I'm hard on my pages!

  • That's a great tute on how to sew the sigs, samantha.. nice and easy to follow. Thank you. What kind of paper are you using.. I know one of your vids you used Manilla folders, but this looks different.

  • I now use poster board from Walmart for all my journals! Thick and cheap, it's got a coating on it that makes working on it a breeze. And I can get three journal out of one $3.50 ten pack!

  • I love your vids and wish you'd make more--thanks. I really dislike this camera angle, though.

  • What about it don't you like? I know my head's in the way. *laughs* But felt being able to have the same view as me would be helpful. Would it be better to have the camera across the table from me? Help a girl out!

  • I understand your reasoning for wanting to have it situated that way--but I do prefer it across from you. It isn't so much your head being in the way (I don't think), but for some reason this angle kinda gave me vertigo (lol!). May very well just be me. Honestly, I really appreciate you asking.

  • Samantha, have a look in your editing program and see if you have a rotate 180 degrees. That way you can film from in front and then rotate the whole thing so we see what you see. That's how I film mine. It avoids the whole 'head in the way' thing at the same time.

  • Rho, I saw someone else do that on another book binding tute though and when they tilted the book up to work with, you couldn't see anything because the book was in the way.

Samantha, how about more of an over the shoulder?

  • *laughs* The tripod is notoriously evil in that respect, as it doesn't like to stand where I want! I've tried it, and it doesn't work so well on things like this. For journal page vids, yes, but this one....hrmm. Thanks for the input!

  • I'm gonna have to give this a look, though I see a reply here that does have merit. I'm going for across from me, now, with someone operating the zoom.

  • Okay, after Rhomany replied I went to take another look at her vids and realized it is the angle and the distance on this vid that bothered me (and I feel like a sh*t for even mentioning it on a vid you have so generously put out there for others to learn by). If the camera were more directly over the work and closer to it, I think that would be ideal. Just my opinion and you know what they say about those. Thanks!

  • No worries! It really helps to have imput from others so I can figure things out and make it easier for you all to view. For the next two, I film from across from me (so you're watching me) and had someone sit in to work the camera. I would have never done that if you hadn't said anything, and it worked out great!

  • You are a sweetheart. Thank you.

  • good job! Hope ya having a good night! hugs~Poe

  • Aww, thanks!

  • So very helpful! I'm still slightly scared of doing any actual bookbinding, but I know if I watch this a few more times I will 'get' it and hopefully get over my fear and 'just try it'... Thanks so much!

  • Oh, practice makes perfect! Just make a bunch of little ones to get the feel for it. I had to make about five before I started getting comfortable with making them. Love the imperfections!

  • Another great video! Show us how you finished it off? Thanks!!!!!

  • Tis my task for today -- finishing the journal and editing that vid. :D

  • Thanks for this tutorial. I tried to make my own before, but I realize now that I sewed them together wrong. I will have to try again using this method! :)

  • There is no wrong way! How do you think we get all these methods? Use what's easiest for YOU. I've done four different methods....all worked, but this is the most comfortable for me.

  • Great Video Im glad to see you making videos again i missed you!!

  • :D Aww, thanks! I hope to be back for awhile!
