The only thing that truly bugged me about the Cell Saga, (Other than the pointlessness of them continuing the show after the Freiza Saga (Which I can get over.)) was that Trunks lost because of how much bigger he got when he kept powering up. The fact that he looks like Broly really made it obvious, because Broly turns into the fucking Hulk, and all he does is get faster. So what the hell happened here?

In the manga version Trunks never lands a single blow in this fight and him doing so in the anime actually works AGAINST the point of the scene. As Goku explains, at least in the manga, pushing their body mass to grow past a certain point in order to boost their power level slows them down and that's why Ultra Sayajin isn't a viable option to pursue to best Cell.

@dragonbreathstinks It depends on your view really. This form is physically "stronger" than ss2, that being said they also sacrifice speed for such power, therefore actually weakening them because if you cant catch/read the movements of your opponet your done.
