They are 2 completely different cars. I got a chance to take a friends 430 out on the track once and it was so poised and balanced. The car just felt so different than the corvette. Not better not worse, just different. As far as lap times though.. I figure if I had more time in the 430 I could run about equal times for Z vs 430

All these European car lovers should get their wish and get the super car they crave, but, I can imagine how it has/will feel when they get blown away by Corvettes costing 1/3, 1/4 of their choice in performance cars.
While the ZO6 out performs any car in it's price range, I'd say the F430 has better all around quality and would make a more practical daily driver than the Vette. Both are excellent machines though.
i LOVE the vette. Nothing comes close to its value. Its very fast, very well built, and very easy to maintain. That said, ive been in both and you just get a better feeling when in the ferrari. i dont know what it is, i just feel it.
i have a 2008 z06 - and track it as often as possible. its an awesome machine. Have driven the f430 on the track also - an extremely impressive high tech machine. if i had the cash - and had to make the choice again - i would get the Ferrari, the paddle shifters and feel of the car is not comparable. i have seen guys that know how to drive - in a miata - make fools of inexperienced drivers in fancy new euro monsters on the track. the driver is more important than the car.

I love both these cars! But the F430 doesn't sound stock, & who knows wut either of the two have done to them. We all know a Z06 is faster down the straights, but suffers with traction...and a Z06 with after market tires would obviously smoke a stock F430. Another thing the F430 driver doesn't seem to be exploiting the full potential of the car either. IMO this video doesn't prove that a Z06 is faster then an F430, it just shows that this Z06 & driver is faster then that F430 & it's driver.

The thing is Ferrari says that an average driver can pull lap times within 1 second of their professional drivers' lap times. This just proves that the Ferrari has much more driver assistance technology in their vehicles. This is better for the track, but it creates an "artificial" driving experience (sort of like the Nissan GT-R.) When it comes down to it, it's a matter of preference & opinion. I prefer raw power with no driver assistance, because it strengthens your raw driving skills. :)
and thats why they have that thing on the steering wheel that will shut the f1 derived computers off :) you can't turn off the 4wd or turn up the volume in a gt-r.

I like manual transmissions and pushrod engines. I'd love to have both, but if I have to choose, it's the Corvette. Easier to work on, cheaper to keep up, better fuel economy, better performance, no driving aids, and a proper manual gear box. :)
Did you not see what I typed? Proper Manual Gear Box. Do you understand what that means? A shifter, and a foot clutch. Heel-toeing, rev-matching, becoming one with the car. No paddle-shifting, no driving aids, just you and your car reaching the limits together.
If I could get an F430 for free, sure I'd take one. After I had my Z06 for track use. If I had to choose, I'd take the corvette everytime. I need something I can drive everyday yet beats the pants out of almost any car.
Why not just have a computer control the car and take the driver out of it while you're at it? Since the driver is becoming less and less of a factor with these cars.
The F430 comes with a conventional manual.. not to mention looks better, is more comfortable, sounds better, corners faster, is brilliant to drive, and is referred to as "the best car in the world" by everyone who drives it

its only 1/2 second faster on that track because its a small track how, it beats the f430 around the ring by 13 seconds, and the gtr is nice but its full of drivers aids, no real thrill from the reviews ive read, the f430 and z06 are all about the driver and car, not electronics telling you how to drive, in terms of exhaust note i still say the z06 sounds better the thunderous grumble and gurgle it makes is crazy, but we cant debate over opinions only facts, and fact is the z06 is the better car

You are forgetting that the top gear track was designed by lotus.. there are no opportunities for the Z06 to use its massive engine to pull big leads. and the ferraris are much quicker in the bends

The one thing I was wondering when did the Ferrari Driver finally realize that he was not going to catch the ZO6. I mean realistically and not being disrespectful the F430 even in the Lemans series can not compete with the Corvette so I am sure this was not going to be any different.

It can't do 205mph either ^^ Some big magazine tested it and they said it would do 200.4mph TOPS. The GT2 a model that was launched quite a while back managed 200mph with 120 horsepower less.

And do you actually believe.. a Supercharged 6.2L V8 putting out 630ish horsepower has a better fuel economy than a 4.3L Non Supercharged V8? That puts out 100hp less? Come on..
Actually the dual over head cam HP motors. are very fuel inefficient. Now while all the tests are done by the manufacturer the Government tests about 15% of all cars, but the "Super cars" are the ones that fall into that 15% because the Government will make more money by taxing the vehicle, domestic or not. the Viper has a hefty gas guzzler tax on it.
So as you can see there are just a few points more. As a matter fact I can sit here and count how many points I made but that would take the fun out of it. Out of all these points, the MOST important point is that there is not one car out the that can make the power, can take turns, and most of all is able to keep up with the ZR1 for the money, ok Viper selling a stripped version of their street car at a loss. People who know actually know more than just one point.
It's not faster than the Enzo I'm afraid. The Enzo did a 7:25 and the ZR1 did a 7:22:9 recently. But after a minute of the Enzo's lap something in the car broke and ruined the handling. Still it managed 7:25. And all of what you've just said can be summarized in one argument: The Zr1 is better bang for buck, which means ur also saying u cant go faster for less money.
Now it is not the ZR1's fault that the $1.2 million dollar Enzo that was touted to be the fastest street race car by Ferrari broke at what it was made to be for. The run was done in October and was run by Magnessun. It was 7:22.4 and I as of yet I have not heard thet the Enzo has run again. Oh yeah because it has nothing to prove. I get it. I own a Vette my boss has an F430 Your drive for knowledge will help you own an Enzo, ZR1, or Konigsegg some day or something better.

Actually it is American engineering showing the rest of the world, that all those over priced European "Super Cars" are all over priced vehicles. @liljjbo I have a silver Z C6 Z06 that I track with at Elkhart, but I will say the 430 is a great car. Theres nothing wrong with it besides its overwhelming price. They are 2 completely different cars. I got a chance to take a friends 430 out on the track once and it was so poised and balanced. The car just felt so different than the corvette. Not better not worse, just different. As far as lap times though.. I figure if I had more time in the 430 I could run about equal times for Z vs 430

While the ZO6 out performs any car in it's price range, I'd say the F430 has better all around quality and would make a more practical daily driver than the Vette. Both are excellent machines though.

i LOVE the vette. Nothing comes close to its value. Its very fast, very well built, and very easy to maintain. That said, ive been in both and you just get a better feeling when in the ferrari. i dont know what it is, i just feel it.

i have a 2008 z06 - and track it as often as possible. its an awesome machine. Have driven the f430 on the track also - an extremely impressive high tech machine. if i had the cash - and had to make the choice again - i would get the Ferrari, the paddle shifters and feel of the car is not comparable. i have seen guys that know how to drive - in a miata - make fools of inexperienced drivers in fancy new euro monsters on the track. the driver is more important than the car.

I love both these cars! But the F430 doesn't sound stock, & who knows wut either of the two have done to them. We all know a Z06 is faster down the straights, but suffers with traction...and a Z06 with after market tires would obviously smoke a stock F430. Another thing the F430 driver doesn't seem to be exploiting the full potential of the car either. IMO this video doesn't prove that a Z06 is faster then an F430, it just shows that this Z06 & driver is faster then that F430 & it's driver.

Z06 is Gone. Guys this is the First Z06 that is a made for Nurburgring and to cover European Idea of a truck car ! If you think that the Z06 is not good for cornering you are for sure wrong. The Old models are absolute crap but this one is beast. F430 is obviously can not keep up with the Z06. Both cars are good. F430 Enjoy your leather dash board, shifting pedals :) at the coffe shop and imprese some nice girls. But when it comes to real truck car please park it out side and enjoy as a visitor.

The thing is Ferrari says that an average driver can pull lap times within 1 second of their professional drivers' lap times. This just proves that the Ferrari has much more driver assistance technology in their vehicles. This is better for the track, but it creates an "artificial" driving experience (sort of like the Nissan GT-R.) When it comes down to it, it's a matter of preference & opinion. I prefer raw power with no driver assistance, because it strengthens your raw driving skills. :)

I like manual transmissions and pushrod engines. I'd love to have both, but if I have to choose, it's the Corvette. Easier to work on, cheaper to keep up, better fuel economy, better performance, no driving aids, and a proper manual gear box. :)

Did you not see what I typed? Proper Manual Gear Box. Do you understand what that means? A shifter, and a foot clutch. Heel-toeing, rev-matching, becoming one with the car. No paddle-shifting, no driving aids, just you and your car reaching the limits together.
If I could get an F430 for free, sure I'd take one. After I had my Z06 for track use. If I had to choose, I'd take the corvette everytime. I need something I can drive everyday yet beats the pants out of almost any car.

its only 1/2 second faster on that track because its a small track how, it beats the f430 around the ring by 13 seconds, and the gtr is nice but its full of drivers aids, no real thrill from the reviews ive read, the f430 and z06 are all about the driver and car, not electronics telling you how to drive, in terms of exhaust note i still say the z06 sounds better the thunderous grumble and gurgle it makes is crazy, but we cant debate over opinions only facts, and fact is the z06 is the better car

You are forgetting that the top gear track was designed by lotus.. there are no opportunities for the Z06 to use its massive engine to pull big leads. and the ferraris are much quicker in the bends

Aside from this, the F430 can corner much faster and is the one of the best cars in the world as an experience and drive.

The Farrari would be an obvious choice if i had the option (money) to choose one or the other. It has a lot of prestige to it. I would stay away from Corvettes because i would get pissed off every time i get smoked by one.

@Fabhaven I lived and worked in Europe, Italy and Germany for nearly 13 years. For 6 of those years, I drove American spec Corvettes and what you're saying is an absolute lie. I drove the Autostrada near Modena so many times and there are hundreds of Ferraris on those highways and I never got beat...never. Of course I never raced an Enzo....lol...not much of a chance there and I would have one of those if I were a billionaire.

The Z06 is essentially an upgraded version of the Corvette C6, so pit it against an upgraded version of the F430, pit it agains the Scuderia.

thats stupid as hell....the 430 is more than 3 times as expensive as the z06. It should be able to destroy it for that price.

True, the Z06 is a lot cheaper. But if someone was giving me a choice of two cars and I could pick one I'd pick the Ferrari. But that's my opinion.

Then why not put the Scuderia against the ZR1? The Corvette is known as the best bang for the buck for sports cars, period. End of story. So it doesn't have the 'prestige' of a Ferrari. It does everything else much better.

Because the Scuderia and the Z06 have about the same amount of horsepower and the ZR1 has 130 more. Put the ZR1 to the SLR 722 then.

The argument about putting the top of the line models for each car is stupid. The fact of the matter is...when it comes to the ferrari, your paying for the name not the car. And fine lets just play with this argument... to make it as even as possible, lets put a top of the line corvette (Zr1) against, the the top of the line 430(Scuderia) but to make things even more fair lets put 200 grand in mods on the vette lol to match the price of the ferrari.

no you are not paying for the name, if thats true then why does everyone buy ferraris. the scuderia is much better looking then the corvette. and its impossible to put 200grand worth of mods in a vette. the zr1 already is modified.

It can't do 205mph either ^^ Some big magazine tested it and they said it would do 200.4mph TOPS. The GT2 a model that was launched quite a while back managed 200mph with 120 horsepower less.

actually there is no leather in the scuderia, no one cares about top speed. when people think of a car top speed comes to there mind. there are other things than top speed. scuderia is awsome looking. you probably like the ferrari more.

My boss had an F430 and I rode in it and what I can say is that the Ferrari and GM products are as follows; The Ferrari is the NYC stock investor that feels at ease in any situation he can wield power and money at yet when you get this guy walking in Spanish Harlem he knows he is out of his element and the Corvette is the guy standing at the corner with the look of "please say something to me.." Now the Ferrari could maybe survive in the Ghetto but I doubt it while the Corvette if given the chance can compete in Wall Street and be successful(Le Mans). Hence that is why I drive the Corvette. I was that Ghetto kid who now holds a PhD. and while able to buy a Ferrari I do not because Ferrari while a work of art really what progress has it made? None Now the Corvette has come a long way and its standing next to that Ferrari. Now ask your self who has work harder for success?

And do you actually believe.. a Supercharged 6.2L V8 putting out 630ish horsepower has a better fuel economy than a 4.3L Non Supercharged V8? That puts out 100hp less? Come on..

Actually the dual over head cam HP motors. are very fuel inefficient. Now while all the tests are done by the manufacturer the Government tests about 15% of all cars, but the "Super cars" are the ones that fall into that 15% because the Government will make more money by taxing the vehicle, domestic or not. the Viper has a hefty gas guzzler tax on it.

So as you can see there are just a few points more. As a matter fact I can sit here and count how many points I made but that would take the fun out of it. Out of all these points, the MOST important point is that there is not one car out the that can make the power, can take turns, and most of all is able to keep up with the ZR1 for the money, ok Viper selling a stripped version of their street car at a loss. People who know actually know more than just one point.

It's not faster than the Enzo I'm afraid. The Enzo did a 7:25 and the ZR1 did a 7:22:9 recently. But after a minute of the Enzo's lap something in the car broke and ruined the handling. Still it managed 7:25. And all of what you've just said can be summarized in one argument: The Zr1 is better bang for buck, which means ur also saying u cant go faster for less money.

Now it is not the ZR1's fault that the $1.2 million dollar Enzo that was touted to be the fastest street race car by Ferrari broke at what it was made to be for. The run was done in October and was run by Magnessun. It was 7:22.4 and I as of yet I have not heard thet the Enzo has run again. Oh yeah because it has nothing to prove. I get it. Go to the motor authority web page. It will explain how it was done.

You are 15 like I posted on another page. I am not trying to be mean but you need to be old enough to buy and drive a car and being in the Netherlands that won't be for another 3 or 4 years. Reading a book is not the same as owning one of those vehicles. I am very impressed in your knowledge, but there is a difference when you drive a vehicle. I own a Vette my boss has an F430 Your drive for knowledge will help you own an Enzo, ZR1, or Konigsegg some day or something better.

And there are plenty of cars that are faster, I'm sure of it. But indeed they cost more. That's the reason you'd buy a ZR1. Because it's a very fast car for very little money.

Actually it is American engineering showing the rest of the world, that all those over priced European "Super Cars" are all over priced vehicles. You can have a 200 MPH, with the same amenities for a lot less money. I am not expecting any one to agree that is so in love of the European cars, I mean that would be conceding defeat.

Any one else on here ever notice that all anyone can bash on the Z06 is its outdated suspension ? They call it cheap , but they fail to mention the Carbon fiber body panels, the Aluminum frame and magnesium cradle, the All aluminum engine with titanium valves. The massive brakes with ceramic pads. doesent sound much different than the Expensive european cars, aside from the Leaf springs which for some reason WORK ! Go figure.

To be honest to call it a straight leaf spring suspension isn't quite true. It's a bit more sophisticated than that....
Z06 is a great car, interior's a bit rubbish but you can't have everything and keep it cheap.

The 2009 ZR-1 has Ferrari Enzo brakes. Real Ferrari Enzo brakes. Not to mention is the C6 Z06 big mean daddy. Is a true beast!
