I have some K & N spray-on air filter oil, normally made for cotton air filters in automobiles. I've used it once so far, and I ride in very dusty conditions and it seemed to work very well. I oiled the outside only. What do you guys think about this?
@OraleIggy That's just not how Transworld rolls OraleIggy! ;-)
If you skip to 2:10 there are quick instructions on air filter cleaning. It's pretty straightforward, you just soak the filter with your choice of cleaner, work it around, rinse it out and re-oil. This is more of an overview and we can definitely do a more detailed how to video on the process. Stay tuned!
godd video my bike has a different type of filter its not a foam on its one with all of the thin vertic with a metal top and bottom and are wondering are there cleanable if so how or do they have to be replaced each time thanks
@mtbnut28 Some filters like k&n's are. Others are just meant to be replaced.
You can find air filter cleaning supplies for those types of filters by navigating to BikeBandit and then to Manuals & Tools > Tools & Chemicals > Chemicals > Air Filter Maintenance
You're going to want to look for products like "BMC Air Filter Cleaner Kit (Detergent & Oil)", "BMC Air Filter Cleaner Kit (Detergent & Spray Oil)" and K&N Recharger Kit. We'll send you a message with some links.
