Once the storm made the northward turn, I was ready to get out and I did. There were tornado warnings everywhere at the time I left. The tropical storm force winds extended out over 200 miles and so you had to go at least 250 miles or more to get out of it. I was staying in the western NC mountains for a couple of days. We did see a little mist of rain and a light breeze and that was it.
We saw on tv there about the flooding and we couldn't get back here till Friday.

Thanks for sharing this! This is the first hurricane I remember. We got several inches of rain, power outages, and a flooded basement. I was just 7 years old at the time.
I was in the center of Floyd. I say center, not eye, because Floyd was downgraded to a 70 mile per hour tropical storm just before it passed over New Jersey. We had strong wind here in Seaside Heights, followed by a calm, and then more strong wind. Please post part 10!

Hey do you have clips from when it made landfall?
SuketoKetchi 3 years ago
Unfortunetly no...the footage was sent to me, the person who sent it too me went through the storm directly and lost power so this is the final clip.
