It is interesting i do not find it commercially beautiful but some of the works are powerful and convey deep goddess energy. there is strong real energy being projected here.
This art work IS created within a devotional context! The comment by someone that it isn't very good outside of the context in which it was created is like saying 'outside of traveling a car isn't much good.'
I'm afraid you've rather missed the point. I'm speaking about the devotion of the viewer(to the artist). The suggestion being that if these works were anonymous they would fail to generate the kind of of lavish praise you see below. They're paintings.I just think they aren't so hot.I'm assuming you were familiar with this guru prior to seeing her paintings.Hence your mild outrage. You think I'm being mean to someone you like. You wouldn't care if I said, say,I dislike Dali's work. Eh?
I've got some friends who are into this guru so I thought I'd check this out. I don't think the paintings are good. I find them crude and flat. I'm sure she's a cool person but this work is poor. I think maybe the large obtrusive signatures serve to remind the viewer that this is not about art, it's about the painter. Taken out of a devotional context these pieces are not up to much. Celebrity art is rarely of quality.
The music combined with the art brings one into such a special place inside. Ma's art is so unique and conveys a deep essence. I hope to see more of her paintings. Thank you for introducing her to You Tube.
It's awesome to see more of Ma's work reaching wider audiences, and to know that the Essence of the Kali Natha dharma can be shared with folks who might otherwise not be familiar with our Guru-ji! Namaste and thank you! Ki Jai!
When I first viewed this video it left me at a loss for words. I just looked at it again and have to say that not only is it GREAT!, as I said earlier, but it conveys the essence of the artist, Ma Jaya, whose mastery of yoga and devotion to her Guru, Neem Karoli Baba are the foundation of her creativity. It's awesome to see the collection of this sacred art. Thank you so much for sharing her paintings on U-Tube!!!
Some of my favorite postures. Interesting artwork subjected to a multimedia canvas. I like the hamsasana (swan) not to be confused with the cobra, and the chakrasana and of course the the Bow whose sanskrit name I should know. Padmasana we know (full lotus) and we know to do the tree pose on both legs. Do naked Yoga whenever you can. Stand on your own head, I say. Don't let others stand on it for you. Thanks and Namaste.
Real cool pictures!!!!
I am an artist myself!!
