  • excel files? are they compatible?

  • Can you turn off that black flash effect when turning pages? I think that would get irritating pretty fast.

  • @vta1985 No, that is the way it refreshes pages.

  • would you recommend it?

  • @boxman1571 Yes, this or the newer version.

  • This really is not an unboxing, it was already opened and used because its not on its unboxing screen

  • @TheGuyThatsBored Thanks for watching.

  • Whoa , Cool :))

  • When I see it on display at shops I always get angry at the owners for not turning it on so we can use it, than I realise it is on, it just looks like paper, so amazing, gunna get one :)

  • I love how with the Kindle there's never a blank screen to look at. It's always got famous authors or other pictures that change every once in a while. Great video by the way! You're very good at what you do. Very informative! You just sold me on this device. I'm getting it because of you. Thanks mate!!

  • @EasternPancakes77 Thanks for watching.

  • dude i like ur videos nice going

  • @3runparkourful Thanks for that :)

  • I bought my first Kindle today at Best Buy and its the first e reader ive seen and when i was using it i was like... THIS IS A SCREEN OR MAGICAL PAPER?! =0 i was impressed n__n""

  • I hate the effect it does when you go forward/backwards through pages.

  • @Dangriff679 Likewise. It's has that negative effect like someone has died and whenever I see that animation my mind thinks of something unpleasant like a murder. :)

  • Awesome review! I've been wondering whether I should get the Kindle 3 or the Nook Color, and I think I should get this :) I've tried the Nook a lot of times in B&N, and I've gotten headaches just from browsing through its features, lol. The Kindle 3 definitely seems like a very nice and simple e-reader.

  • thumbs up if Agatha Christie looks like a man

  • smuuuuddaaaa!

  • so the kindle already comes with books already instald?

  • @009clit12 ....lol NO but they do have a dictionary installed :D However there are hundreds of free books available on Amazon to start you off when you go into the Kindle store through Amazon.... and many more that are less than a few dollars. (new and popular ones are more pricier of course).

  • love the review!!! wanna get one! thanks davomrmac!

  • Everything in an English accent sounds so much more professional :) Great review.

  • @zedblaze7 Thanks so much for watching.

  • @davomrmac Thanks for taking the time to reply to the comment. Appreciate it. What is the kindle with the special offers like?

  • @zedblaze7 I have heard the ads hardly get in the way, they do not interrupt your reading.

  • @zedblaze7 the only diff is you get ads in place of the authors for screensavers and there's a tiny ad banner at the bottom of the home screen. other than that it's just a regular kindle :)

  • @davomrmac love your British accent :D

  • @ArianeQube cheers.

  • Excellent review thanks a lot :))

  • @MultiBrados Thanks for watching.

  • LOL! Nice Blu Tak! ^_^

  • 4 ppl prefer nook over kindle 3

  • KINDLE OR NOOK.... i am basically going to sideload books... and i stay outsite us i mean in India.... so plzz help..!!!!

  • @nerfchamp4

Yes, it can! And you can transform the original webpage to a much more better reader-friendly "print preview"-like easier to use form. Like a real e-book.

You can use google maps too.

  • Very nice review, very helpful, nicest of all in YouTube. Thanks for sharing.

  • @KONSDNV Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.

  • thinking of getting a Kindle for my bday in a couple of weeks. I know the Kindle 3 has been out for nearly a year now. Should I hold off for a while? Is the Kindle 4 just around the corner?

  • amazon.com has a comparison has a batterylife comparison on the min kindle 3 and its upto a month lol not 10 days. maybe 10 if your a hardcore reader but it would take me about half a year to read a harry potter book. i picked up this model today nice vid :P

  • @MrGiantHippo Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Wow!!! You mean you still have to press and click buttons on the device. I thought this kind of operation ended with the iPod classic. The iPad isn't so bad for reading books. You can turn the brightness down and change from a white page to a soft sepia colour which isn't too bad on the eyes. You get a nice looking bookshelf on the iPad app as well.

  • just got one for graduation yesterday... i love it my opinion almost better than a book :)

  • Getting one for my birthday!!! Can't wait for friday! :D

  • i just ordered one, and i can't wait to get it

  • @steph505521 Awesome, come back and leave a comment to let us know what u think of it.

  • Great review, thanks

  • @khdenkhdi Cheers.

  • Can I use the Wi fi at home?? I live in Argentina so that's why I'm asking.. the only source for downloading books is amazon? or we can download books from other places? because most books in amazon are in english.. plz plz reply

  • @anilladm you can buy them from any ebook store as a mobi, pdf, or another compatible format. i dont think the kindle supports drm on non-azm formats, so you would have to remove the drm from ur book. dont do anything illegal.

  • Congratulations on a great review. You told me everything I wanted to know, and far more clearly than any of the official promotional material. Your delivery was spot on. No faux-enthusiasm. No squealing. Just straightforward facts delivered simply. It felt like I was exploring a new Kindle of my own. Perfect.

  • @stronab Thank you so much that is an awesome comment.

  • Fantastic Review!

  • @omendark123 THank you for watching and commenting.

  • It looks like looking at paper! So cool.

  • can i conect to wifi using the wifi in my home? i live in uruguay so if it doesnt works i would not have a chance to return it!

  • can you upload your own content on the kindle?

  • @heratus007 - yes you can upload your own pdf files onto the kindle.

  • @skatemetaltom Thanks for watching.

  • mine just arrived today :DD

but i have the same model as you but i didn't get the adapter for the charger to plug to the wall ;(

    good review :D

  • @theman160090 I would ask why you didn't get the adapter.

  • @davomrmac does it depend which country it ships too?

cause i live in hong kong and it has the same british 3 piece adapter thingy

  • @theman160090 It might do.

  • can you put on own or downloaded pdf files on it?

  • Nice review. I first got the nook but the laggy touchscreen response and confusing menus made me go for a Kindle WIFI.

I gave my Nook to my dad as a present and he simply adores it. Everybody's happy now. ^_^ (BTW, Why no EPUB, Amazon? WTF?!)

  • can i download magazine's like surf magazine or motorcycle magazine and or pdf documents on it?

  • hey davomrmac, i got a couple of question here.. can I transfer files from the computer by using the USB cable? and another question.. can I chat on the facebook? thanks

  • I enjoyed your review. I just bought this kindle and I love it!!!

  • @lancer89032 many thanks.

  • no offense but, the why are you comparing something solely for reading to a tablet? but, i love kindles anyway.

  • Is it touch screen and on wifi how do you getit and on wifi can you go on anthin??

  • @medaknighthero2 no its not a touch screen but theres built in wifi you can use to download ebooks, go on the internet browser, etc

  • GO AMERICANS(AND ENGLISH)

  • uk version are better

  • @MoonChild1981 Yes your card registered at Amazon.

  • very good reveiw definatley consedring buying one i have an i touch with ibook but rather have like he said not that annnoying glare cant wait to get one

  • @TolentinoA1 Thanks for watching.

  • @TolentinoA1 the exact same thing for me. I have a kindle but the glare is so annoying.

  • Does it have a function to highlight the text? Cuz I'm wondering if it would be fit to use as a textbook substitute.

  • @AndrewSmith00000007 Yes it allows you to highlight.

  • @davomrmac Can you save it?

  • @AndrewSmith00000007 TBH never tried. Anyone else know how this feature works?

  • @busywave I am trying to figure that out too. :( I wish I knew

  • How can I delete a book from my kindle? I'm guessing one can since it only holds 200 books. Enjoyed the video.

  • Can you download ebooks from your computer onto the kindle via usb cable?

  • Hi, can you download books from your computer to the kindle with the usb cable?

  • Agatha Christie is a creeper

  • Hi I have a question. From what I gather you can only acquire files, books etc through wifi. I wanna know if you have pdf articles on your computer, irrespective of what they are, can you read store and read them on the kindle?

  • But how do you surf the net on it?

  • Doesn't the Kindle run out of battery power if it constantly displays that picture?

  • Ok stupid question. Every video I see shows agatha. Christie then they turn it on. ??????

Are all kindles constantly displaying Christie I thought it was a sticker. I dot get it if it's off why show the picture?

  • @TheJedi270 It is random.

  • Nice video. Juss bought exact version a couple hours ago. Can't wait for it.

  • @BishopRealTalk98 Thanks for watching.

  • I read somewhere that Wikipedia was available on the Kindle. Is that true?

  • Thank you so much for this review, it was extremely helpful!

  • @Msavi Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

  • i'm ordering my kindle next week and i cant wait

  • as i am not good on vocabulary. Does kindle come integrated with an inbuilt dictionary? If I am stuck on some word, on some page of my novel, can I find the meaning of the word, then and there, so that the feeling of reading that novel does not die?? please answer this .. as there is no fun, if I have to carry big dictionary with kindle and turn and again have to turn myriad pages to find a word's meaning. please make a video on this feature.. if possible for u .. thanx

  • @gskguneet Yes it has an Oxford English and American English dictionaries built in. You can highlight any word in book you're reading and the dictionary definition will automatically pop-up.

  • @gskguneet it does come equipped with an Oxford Dictionary

  • koolio! my aunt is gonna get me one for some random reason ;D prob cuz i <3 to read so much and im this tiny girl hauling around all these books XD haha but ya im exited looks awsome i love 2 play with hers. . . .

  • does the kindle store automatically come on the Kindle device or is it something i have to download?

another question..how do i buy the books?

  • @jessica91423 It is on there. To buy books you have a card linked to your Amazon account, purchases are then paid for from the card.

  • great review

  • @Chalochepe Cheers.

  • Can it read books with images? I mean will it show the images as well? For instance any of the 'Teach yourself visually' books?

Secondly, is it something for me, if I don't really like reading story books and just like factual and educational books, which mostly have images inside?

  • @kami645464 Yes. For illustrated books and magazines I would go for an iPad.

  • @davomrmac Or, Kindle DX

  • Can you play games on it or download different applications for it?

  • @mclmatty There are some puzzle type games I think.

  • @davomrmac Cool.

  • Very good review. I'm seriously considering buying one. Have you tested it with textbooks, especially for a science subject. How does it handle equations and such?

  • @chrypton1 Very good on this.

  • i missed coverage on pdf files

  • wow, great review! :)

my kindle is arriving tomorrow and i'm so excited, it looks great!

  • @tangysunshine17 Thanks for watching.

  • So basically you can't go on the internet with it? I thought it said you could go on facebook and stuff. I want to read and be able to connect to the internet to research things. :( Wasted $200

  • Also, GIF is pronounced Jiff. :)

  • Just a tip, the headphone jack is technically an output not an input :)

  • @forrest225 Thanks for watching & commenting.

  • @davomrmac No prob i love your unboxings :)

  • Brill review

  • @sammieseagull Thanks.

  • i hate this phone because it is soo big

  • @goldguy123 uhm, it's not a phone.. it's basically a portable library. i believe that it stores 3,500 books? but anyways.. it's not a phone. hahah

  • @goldguy123 not a phone

  • Hi, is this device easy enough for my 70 year old mum? She has a MacBook and can browse the Amazon store and has an account with them and she's a big reader and has run out of space for her collection but her friend has one of these and she's shown interest.

But I would like to know if it's easy enough to use? Also are the books a good price?

  • @marksapollo My Mum is a little older and totally easy for her. Books are quite well priced, but my Mum prefers to go to the library for free books ;)

  • @davomrmac My mum doesn't really use the library!! She like to have a collection I think. Thanks for the reply I'll get her one for Christmas, think the WiFI only version is more then good enough. If I read books I'd be asking for one! One of the most useful inventions of recent times eBooks are IMO. Like the iPod for music.

  • @marksapollo WiFi model is definitely the way to go.

  • I am buying this for myself for Christmas! LOL

    Merry Christmas to me :)

This is a minor thing...but i really love how the screen saver is various famous authors. Cool ideal Kindle!

    Great review.

  • Really good overview I just ordered one can't wait for it to arrive. I really like the quality of the print it really is like reading a book but much lighter and even if you have sight issues you can change the font so you don't have to buy any large print books you can read any which I find a really good feature.

  • Buying one for my girlfriend for christmas but really looking forward to seeing it myself

  • @TheBroz She will love it.

  • @TheBroz Thinking of buying one for my girlfriend as well, but wondering if I am just satisfying my own curiosity! Very nice looking piece of hardware

  • @Conor552 I think you will like it too. I am not a big reader, but it makes reading very appealing.

  • Very good review.

  • @yingdiskette thanks.

  • I'm buying this for my dad this Christmas.

  • @Anoush13 Lucky Dad, superb gift.

  • how to play music?

  • Thank you so much for this review. I've ordered the 3G version of the new Amazon Kindle (still hasn't arrived yet though *sigh*) and although I've seen other reviews of the product, yours is by far the best. I was wondering, if it does really work straight out of the box as other people have said or do I have to charge it for a few hours before I'm able to use it?

  • @VelvetKisses1986 Mine came charged. Thanks for watching.

  • @davomrmac Although you know when buying electronics the best thing to do is set it in the charger for a full-charge time whether or not the battery has any juice or not. This is just standard form in keeping your battery in top shape for any electronic. Also recharging things fully each time you charge them and not removing them from a partial charge will help keep their long life. Just a tip my mom's taught me, seems to have worked well over the years.

  • can you buy books from ur computer...as in by hooking the kindle up to it?

  • @PS3gamerPRO1997 You purchase on the device, or on your computer. If you purchase on your computer they are wirelessly delivered to the Kindle.

  • Good review - you touched on a few areas that others don't.

  • I DIDN'T KNOW IT LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE PAPER!?!?

  • you the only British person I know whose done a review

  • @MrAssViolater Cool. Thanks.

  • you the only British person I know whose done a review I have been looking all over the web!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrAssViolater Thanks for watching.

  • Well that's done it. After seeing this I ordered one. What a fabulous device!

  • This looks really awesome. I've seen the Kindle the store but never looked at is. Nice review as always.

  • @Poisonsoul189 Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Whoa 666 videos! Haha I've had my eye on the Kindle for the holiday season. We'll see =]

  • i just got this and its awesome. Extremely well made there are no colors but the e-ink looks amazing better then most books it does have a web browser which preforms better then i though. i personally have an ipad and its heavy gets kinda warm the battery dies faster and its hurts ur eyes. they did a great job making it. and everything gets a cool retro look in black and white colors arent need it when reading amazon does offer some word games for this device also for FREE!

  • nice review, im very tempted, but i think newspapers and periodicals are still overpriced at the moment, maybe hang on to see how it catches on. I seen a couple of newspaper reviews and the punters werent happy at all with the way they were laid out for the kindle, thats too bad.

  • I would seriously go for the wifi version and save me some money. It´s really simple to use my HTC Desire with Android and make a hotspot and boom you got access to books everywhere, Android for life .......

  • Always wanted an eBook reader...

    This review tempts me! lol

  • @davomrmac what's the price in dollars around $130? Please answer

  • @TheDeathkngiht $139 for the WiFi version.

  • buy the real book, you wont look like a prick in public

  • lookk up 666 vids

  • It would be quite good if Amazon paired up with Google to make a smartphone version of the Kindle. You could have android, add cameras and a touchscreen. It would make it an even bigger competitor to the iPad.

  • @samsaurus1 android phones have a kindle app...

  • @BenJEMean the nook uses the android OS

  • Nice review Dave!

  • does it have a web browser ? otherwise theres no point it having 3g

  • Don't really like it.

I think the iPad has much better potential as it can access safari etc.

    Plus it has iBooks so...

  • @RonanChromy100 that's why u pay £400 extra for iPad.

  • @RonanChromy100 yeah, and it's only $350 more expensive as well.

i think the kindle is great for those who want a solid e-book reader, without dropping a fortune.

  • I am really thinking on buying this, it looks like really useful to people who likes reading. Do you like reading on books? or have you found reading with the kindle better?
