@Krelus, they kind of did break canon. The Star Trek Enterprise episode Regeneration still happened in the reboot, because it happened before Nero altered the time line. That means First Contact happened. From there, every other season and movie of Star Trek (except the animated series) had to have happened.

Personellement, je connaissaient les films bien avant et j'ai vue pas mal de série... Ce film... Est un peut comme les Ultimate chez les MARVELS... Les "reset" des série en quelque sorte... Et rien a dire: pour Star Trek, c'est une réussite totale!

I think this is very much an interesting movie from a critical standpoint. Yeah, there were some pieces that simply made no sense, but you know what? It was the most entertaining flick I've seen all year. Great score, great cast, great design, and impressively, they somehow managed to reboot the continuity without breaking canon. It rocks, 'nuff said.

as a short-term action-flick that is most certainly forgotten by 80% of the people who saw it in the cinema it was okay, but nothing more ... god knows why this movie received so many good reviews ... the only good thing about this movie were some of the actors! in terms of story, cinematography and FX it was typical JJ Abrams pseudo art ... if this movie had any other name then star trek it would've, most likely, died miserably
