  • LOL u can see the cars driving backwords at 2:55

  • Vancouver is awesome really !!

I arrived there on May 23 and departed June 18 2009.

    Great weather :D

  • I Know This Song When I Begin Watching This Video

I think this song is called the who magic bus

  • i noticed it when it reached marine drive and all the traffic was going in reverse....nice trick tho...lol

  • yeah ... I noticed it right away when the big truck was going backwards and then the vehicles on the side were too .... pretty neat route though .... except for the view of the underground walls for the first part of the trip.

  • anyone else notice that the video was actually playing backwards?!

  • VERY COOL SHOT.

  • how does the train gets it power? i have noticed the long thing on the very right. Does the train connet to that?

  • its under the train

  • curse the train gets the power through a magnetic generator. On the old skytrain they have a strip that runs in the middle of the track that provides electricity to a magenetic generator that creates a magnetic field around the strip.

On the new one in thsi video, the replaced the strip with a more refine generator. its a tube generator that generates magnetic field making electricity. The train also has sensors that captures them.

  • The trains that run on the Canada line are of a different system. The Canada Line uses a dedicated fleet of trains built by Rotem, a division of Hyundai Motor Group. Rather than the linear induction motors used by the existing system's Bombardier ART trains, they are powered by conventional electric motors. They are wider and longer than existing SkyTrain cars, but driven by similar automated third-rail technology.

  • I know that FrozenNuke but that wasnt what curse was asking. He was asking how does the train moves using what method (electricity, fuel, etc..)

  • At the waterfront end they have a large (very large) group of HAMSTERS.

Those HAMSTERS are forced to run on a large wheel (very large wheel). For FOOD.

Because the group of HAMSTERS is so large, there is an excess of power. This excess power is sold to BC HYDRO.

  • Is this why BC Hydro is now Terasen Gas?

  • That's EXACTLY right youngstunna.

A group of HAMSTERS that large (very large);also, generates an incredible amount of FLATULENCE. This "NATURAL GAS" is converted into what technicians call BIO FUEL.

So you can see it's a WIN - WIN situation for everybody.

  • LMFAO! Thank you for informing me. I was not informed before but now I see the light. =)

  • No no no no no. BC Hydro is still called BC Hydro. It's BC Gas that got renamed to Terasen Gas.

  • it backwards

  • That's definitely one fast-moving semi for one that's going backwards, eh?

Funny, though. I thought by now they'd be running trains normally, so why would they be running them down the left side?

  • It's not even open, yet someone already posted a sped up cab view ride. Cool!

  • i noticed at each station they put sliding doors

  • Actually, what you're probably seeing are ad billboards on the wall opposite the platform.

Although platform screen doors would work here, photos that have been taken show that there are non along any station platforms. (Although you might see that there currently is a chain link fence along the platform edge so that workers can safely finish station construction while train testing is in progress. Those will be removed by opening day.)

  • Great video. I moved back to Charlottetown when the construction of Canada Line began and have been following its progress ever since. I look forward to trying it out next summer when I move back.

  • I remember when they did something similar in December of 1985 when the SkyTrain was brand spanking new. They even had a test track between main street and where home depot is in 1983 for people to test what the SkyTrain would be like!! Man.. those were the days... :)

  • If you're thinking of the Cable 10 video with the soundtrack of Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express"... I have that on VHS in the basement, never to be found again

  • Haven't the faintest clue... However, I meant the test running for the public before Expo 86 is what they did, the something that's similar to the footage above, except I was one of the public in the 80s lol. I remember how cool SkyTrain was when it was brand new! Nothing like it... Now it's old lol.

  • If you can actually find the video and some how transfer post it.. it would be kick ass! Almost no one now remembers the SkyTrain as a puppy haha... back in the day when it went to New Westminster Station... and had blue rug flooring!

  • It probably wouldn't be too hard to find as it would be on one of the oldest tapes, unfortunately both of my VCRs have gone to Silicon Heaven

  • Very nice!

  • Heh heh, I was wondering how you got to put your camera at the front window of the train. Until the end of the video, that is. Nice job, what did you use for camera/intervalometer?
