This came out way before Melee or Brawl. "Marusu", his name in Japanese, can either be translated as "Mars" or "Marth" into English. When they made Melee they decided on Marth for whatever reason.

cause japanese people pronounce Marth as Mars. just like death note, if you hear what they say in the japanese dub they say it Desu Noto.

It's not that small... And also he's not using Falchion in the video, but in SSBB he is using Falchion (that makes a difference, I think).
