  • Would you look at the hotel-sized lotion bottles just left of the laptop, hahaha.

  • @MahatmaDali Actually - an empty salt shaker and rosewood oil for the fret board of my Rickenbacker.

  • Genius....using that joystick instead of a mouse.

  • haha.. whats in that bag on the plate?

    cool music..

    superb mixing solution!

  • @petersedin Napkins I think.

  • @petersedin I think it is a garlic and oregano mixture for the plate of spaghetti that is just out of frame.

    (haha)

  • haha.. whats that bag on the plate?

    cool music..

  • Bag of WeeD LoL !

  • Hi, I use Reason and Ableton Live, what do you the joystick for?, controlling any filter?

    Grats.

  • @germanbarrientosmora haven't run this system since May, but the joystick lets you drive around the clips instead of being limited to a finite number of square buttons to assign the clips to. There are buttons on the base and handle that are assigned to effects for each of the eight channels in Ableton.

  • cool studio and cool sound ;)

  • Very cool - but why do you need the Redsound at all? Ableton can easily send midi beatclock out, or slave to it from external gear.

I've synced up to vinyl using a beat extractor before, and obviously it was needed then, but you'd probably get better timing if you just sent midi out of Live. :)

  • ok is that joystick contoller work on mac and did you have to mod anything to make it work on live? does it just do same as mouse?

  • i love the sound of the spectralisis

  • it seems that this machine is the dream for a looper expert. right?? great sounds and figures you can do here

  • this is sweet bro.. keep rokin

  • Like how you've designated computer input to the joystick.

Does it cover everything in your DAW or just pre-programmed tasks?

  • even manfred mann? great man!!!!!!!

  • But, that said, I have to say. I really like your setup. Peace

  • You know, you could use two hands...

So this is what they mean by a 'smoker's studio'

  • Every studio was a "smoker's studio" sans the control room (in most cases) for years. Dust is a bigger threat to the gear actually.

  • OK, fair enough. I just found it funny, the way you changed your cigarette from hand to hand, only using one hand.

    great gear, the spectralis v2

  • @nielsdt Hey - I yam what I yam!!

  • Cool man you got a really different sound. I am much digging it.

  • I see some fingers at the other side of the table doing something! Is he any involved in this performance??

  • Ha! No - That would be the fingers of my girlfriend playing one of her Facebook games probably.

  • I didn't know Ron Jeremy produced music!

  • I shaved that off - Too many Ron Jeremy comments from that.

  • Hehe ok, I thought I was being original. Anyway the tunes were great. I wish I could afford a spectralis.

  • Neither will last forever. I suppose I could go on a long rant about freedom, but those days are long gone anyway. If you stamp out tobacco smoke you will not live forever either, and I have probably done more in my life before I even turned 30 than most people could ever hope to do. Please worry about your own important life and leave mine to... well - ME!

  • Tipical. Enjoy. Peace.

  • lovin the joystick!

  • Some kids give me so much crap about that, but it keeps going on Ableton's screen. It lets you drive around on there and then you pull the trigger after you land on the clip you want to activate.

  • nice!

  • Too awesome! This is a great mix.....Thanks!

  • Thanks! This wasn't meant to be some Earth-shattering performance. I just wanted to show what the system is capable of and how the Spectralis II will be worked into it. There is the potential, with the addition of the Spectralis, for there to now be 26 stereo elements playing at any given time in the mix, together, and in perfect sync. The joystick eliminates the concept of "zones" in Ableton, & allows us to merely "drive around" on the screen through the 8 rows of clips we limit ourselves to.

  • No one else has commented on the joystick, I'm dying to know how you did that. AFAIK it isn't supported natively by Ableton. I have that same exact joystick. Did u use software to do that? Can u link it plz? Great track, also Very technical, I'm so sloppy and get intimidated by interfacing equipment.

  • You should really check out my previous videos of the entire system so you get a better idea of what this whole thing will be involved in doing eventually. The "Percussa audio cubes at DIV video shoot" videos (specifically part II) will give a better picture of it.

  • Gallagher..LOL. question: who's master? abe or spec? i have a spectralis1 and Machinedrum and want to integrate it with Ableton, not really sure who to set as Master.

  • I get Ron Jeremy and Gallagher a lot for some reason. It used to be Ozzie Osbourne and David Lee Roth - I prefer Gallagher and Ron Jeremy personally if given a choice ;) The Spectralis II is taking the place of the Quasimidi Raveolution in our digital "DJ" system. See my other videos (Percussa audio cubes at DIV video shoot). This video is just me getting the thing worked into the system & playing through our latest Ableton set.

  • hey, thats ron jeremy!! kidding..kidding..Spec2 is ILL!

  • another smoker in the studio... don't be shy! (I just get a kick out of it) this thing can get away from you fast before you really understand what you've got yourself into..and how you ended up there. Really crazy.

  • Great tune, and I love the phantom fingers tapping away to the left of the laptop. Ghost sighting? [grin]
