If you fought for a flag you were fighting for the wrong thing. If you fought for the US government ask yourself if the jerks running this country would fight for you? If you fought for your family, friends, your brothers in the service and your neighbors those are the right people to be fighting for. The idea of freedom and Democracy are the right things to be fighting for. The only question is does our government represent freedom for people or corporations? I wouldn't piss on a corporation.
I see nothing wrong with Americans burning the American flag for whatever reason. That's one of the main things the flag represents anyway - FREEDOM. We have the freedom to burn the American flag if we wanted to, something a lot of people around the world don't have the right to do.
So even if an American is burning our flag for disrespectful reasons, they are yet respecting the flag by demonstrating what it's all about.
I'm all for burning the UN's flag, but not the American Flag. I believe in the Constitution even if there are people who desecrated it. We as a country do not have to be part of that...
The UN is part of what is wrong with this country... burn the UN flag NOT the American Flag.
I know there were some long threads on the forums about this (I didn't read), but can someone (Jesse?) briefly summarize the purpose of this particularly inflammatory act? I love Jesse's freekeene articles, but instinctively without hearing his side tend to agree with what Mark Edge said when he called in to TalkBack.
A quick interview with Jesse would be a nice addition to this video.
And the (3 parts total) are posted in his videos. YouTube likes to mess up links to replace the (dot) with actual periods and check to make sure there are no spaces in the address.
Honestly, I have no sympathy for this woman and her sheepish bleating. I served in Iraq too-- the fact that she get's all soft skinned and sentimental about the flag really is only evidence to what I've been saying, that politics and statism are divisive. Also, her son or friend seems to be a real charmer. I'm curious to know where he figured out that assault and destruction of property were good things.
Amazing isn't it? Violence seems to run in many peoples blood. I'm glad it's not in yours. Though I'm not yet sure if I agree with your protest, I'm glad you got people talking.
While I disagree with what you say I will defend to death your right to say it.

This is the argument that woman is using.
"I lost my brother in a war. Therefore you should not burn the flag of the organization responsible for his death."
It's sad from all sides.

"You don't burn anybody's flag!"
...except I bet she'd burn Iraq's flag under Sadam. I bet she'd burn Iran's flag if McCain told her they were "eeeebil".
And what about that UN flag? I bet she strongly objects to U.S. soldiers wearing UN blue.
