This use to play a lot on much music in the 90s , at night during those retro flashbacks they use to do. Though the song is old as I am , it really reminds me of high school . The spoons were an extremely talented group, Canadian musicians are very talented and ironically lots of theirs songs dont go beyond Canada eventhough they could have been International hits. This is one of those songs. Proud to be Canadian!
Ahhhh...Spoons. I LOVE THIS BAND!! I think Arias & Symphonies was one of the best albums of the 80's, and there sure were a lot of great albums! This band was really special, no question.
I also loved Kissing the Pink, especially NAKED. Amazing album.
I loved the Spoons back in the '80's. I think I saw them live 4 times maybe 5. The songs are original but kinda the lyrics are so obscure especially in hindsight that one understands why they had such a hard time breaking out of the Canadian market and going international. They also weren't able to break out of that "'80's sound". Having said that...they are still fun to listen to!
great band from canada's 80's, had great versatility, both with the synths. and guitars, shameful break-up still waiting for the "Bridges over Borders" and "talk Back"cd release...any info. help please send. ps. the female is hot in this band.
Boys and girls, was at the parkdale craft concert and was deeply moved by the 80 flashback, never been tighter, always fun, loved the parking lock scene. S
I could never make out the lyrics in this song's chorus,I always thought it said "I'll sleep in your overalls" - instead of "I'll sleep in your nova heart" - and frankly I think my interpretation still sounds a lot more sensible!
Yes, they were. I met them once backstage lost among all of this Vancouver snots, really nice and polite, including me. I was actually standoffish with one of them.
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!
80s lovers, take it from someone who was glued 2 Mtv since 1983 while it was still pure. This video is the epitome of the 80s-- mmm... discovered this song on a P2P a year ago in a (Redanka) remixed version & fell in love w/ it! :-d
One of the most sophisticated songs ever written. Doesn't conform to any cliche, industry formula! Too bad they don't write songs like this anymore...
Yes KROQ did play it, and they showed the video on this afternoon program called MV3 ... don't know if it aired outside of Los Angeles, it was sort of a new wave American Bandstand.
I just heard this song recently. I don't think it got any air play here in the States back in the day sadly..I love this tune! So cool that this video is posted...thanks so much!
I think I requested and succeeded once in getting a Detroit station to play it around 1982, but only after I was exposed to it via CKLW-AM from across the river in Windsor. I am very thankful for those Canadian content laws that meant they had to play Rough Trade, Payolas, et al. We border folk benefitted.
heh he. loved this song back in the day. all i remember from the video after all this time is the swing, the dress, the fingernails and the ballet shoe. thanks for posting it.
The best band to come out of Burlington, ON.

I've always loved this song and video, but I've always found it kind of trippy. In a good way of course.

LOL, that's funny. Nova heart means a luminous
heart that is warm and comfortable. Which is good to sleep in, knowing that you are being loved.
