never seen bellydance like this before. Now I can see why she is famous - she's unique (I know every bellydancer is unique in style) but she dances according to how she feels the music. Not so mechanical like the others more like individual art form.
@sabreena1khalick exactly and thats how most oriental bellydance stars perform! its not about moves but how you express your feeling with dance and how well you dance with the music
@saroona006 hi. I'm completely new to this dance form. I heard that Dina is very famous and wanted to know her dance style. I know there are other forms of bellydance ie. Turkish, Egyptian, Kaleegi (not really a bellydance), Beledi etc. I personally prefer the Egyptian version. Just looking at this lady is inspirational. I have seen a few westerners dance but really they perhaps need to know Egyptian Arabic really to convey the emotions behind the music.
@sabreena1khalick Ur last point is very crucial! arabic music in general involves great emotions and the words are extremley poetic. Even the instruments used and specific musical notes in our songs involves representaion of happiness, sorrow, etc. In other words we can easily perceive her movements and more importantly feel amused by her creativity.
@saroona006 how I wish I knew Arabic! I would have certainly subscribed to your channel. You seem like a very friendly and articulate person. Are you Egyptian? I'm sorry for sounding so personal, you don't have to reply. I would like to get to know someone who would give me a helping hand in the future if I took up bellydancing at home as a hobby.
@sabreena1khalick Thank you for your compliment. No, i am kuwiati but i have lived there for quite some time. Egypt is the pioneer of arts (music, dance, and cinema) in the arab world so most are familiar with the egyption culture and dialect.
@saroona006 hi. you're v.lucky to have lived there. I would want to go there someday when the opportunity arises. Were you there for work? or family? By the way - you're English is first class. :)
@sabreena1khalick My father worked in the Kuwait embessay in Cairo, so my siblings and i have continued our elementery education there in an american school before we went back to our country when i was still a highschool freshman. I consider Egypt and especially Cairo as a 2nd home. Enshallah they will have a bright future ahead of them
@saroona006 yes, let's hope for the best for the Egyptians and the best for the rest of the Arab world. The Middle East should be proud of the brave stand they are making against the harsh regimes live under..
What an intoxicating beauty and mesmerizing performance. Dina's curves and seductive moves are delicious... NO HEATING NECESSARY.
She symbolizes the ideal feminine beauty. The music is great but too slow for eastern music, however, Dina's performance was sexy and innovative and that what distinguished her from other traditional eastern dancers.
No heating necessary!! that's so funny. I so much agree with you, Dina looks very sexy & delicious. I'm very impressed with her new creative style that is opposite to the standardized version performed in belly dance costume we've been seeing all along. The idea of belly dancing in a tight dress showing all the moves in such a sexy way, not only artistic, but orgasmic ;0)
well my mom is an epytian so i would love to learn her traditional dance i have the costume and stuff i know how to dance it but i am not that good so i am looking at some ideas so i could be good but she is a artist SHE ROCKS!
LA AMOOOO!!!!!. ES LA MEJOR, GRACIA, BUENA TECNICA, SENSUALIDAD, ES HERMOSA, BAILA ESPECTACULAR. ¿qUE MAS SE LE PUEDE PEDIR?. ¿QUIERO SER COMO ELLA CUANDO SEA GRANDE!! JIJIJIJ. VIVA DINA!!!!
THIS is REAL belly dance! I hate American style mechanical belly dancing where isolation is all it's about. NO! it's about moving ALL your body coherently!
in Tribal, yes it is about isolation, but we do move our body along with it. it is about being snake-like, and almost like our body is disconnected. it is a hard dance and it is a different style of bellydance. what's the point of having different styles of dance if they are all the same?
anyway, how could american women bellydance? i think only egyptian can, (unfortunately coz im not egyptian), but she ahs to understand the lyrics, and she has to feel the music, has to have a spirit for that. and thats her, Dina. she is a goddess. but arabic men hate her, its so bad.
She is absolutely beautiful in this video. Classic. IT is a shame with the video of her crying on t.v due to some scandal. This woman is trying in ways that are even against Egypts ways, to preserve Egyptian bellydancing/dancers, before they are virtually extinct and no longer recognized by its country of origin.
I have much respect for the feeling of the culture in the dance. I try to practice it at home. But on stage the latina comes out. No apologies after all here in the states it isn't likely that you will find an egyptian performing at the resturants.
the thing is, i try but cannot be "latin" the steps are too difficult.. so maybe you cannot have ur feet "still" for the feeling in the arab songs, we on the contrary feel it in the hips but not in the feet :) samba impossible for me
Ey, it's cool. Maybe you'll be able to come up with your own fusion thing. Shakira, for example (and just as an example) does a lot with both her hips and her feet.
Well the base of bellydance wich most dancers even American one's will tell you comes from Egypt. It look very basic, but it is very graceful. Like Tateppilevko said, its about emotion through music and being a woman. Women would get together and dance (bellydance). the different styles came from the dance migrating through people and trade. Many countires have contributed to bellydance in some way to make it beautiful and wide spread.
There is no pure bellydance style! You have many different styles of dance and in many countries in the middle east and the mediterranean,(and i think India) women had their own dance. Under american and western influence Bellydance became what it is today. A mixture of different dances. There is no real pure bellydance, and there are many different dancers who all are very talented. If it is the Dina, Rachel Brice or Didem. They just different.
She's famous, graceful,a real lady and a great style.People argued regarding her dance...well,this is the original bellydance. The spectacular styles(tribal and cabaret)came along with this one as a base. Each person has its own taste. Some like the classical bellydancing(as this one),some like the modern styles. They are all great to watch and perform. All that matters is the lady(the dancer)to be graceful and have style and feel the music, and not to perform aerobics or be totally out of rythm.
I don't understand how this can be original bellydance. is it because she is egyptian? In all honesty, she looks like a drunk doctor's wife at the country club. Don't be prejudice against americans.
I agree...Dina's style is addictive to watch. I also think that she definately captures the Egyptian feeling in her dance, unlike most American belly dancers. It is not about how much you can physically do with your body, but it is about how much emotion you can convey to the audience. The more and more I watch some of these amazing Egyptian dancers, the more I fall in love with the art form....and the less interest I have in watching many of the American dancers.
OOOH my God!! she dont have a clue of bellydancing! the only thing thats nice is her feminin body. if this is Egypts best dancer than Im the worlds best:)
agree with previous comments; definitely an aquired taste, once you get past the breast augs and horrible costume taste, dina is addicting! her dance style is very engaging!
