  • @Dalryn1 This tune is called LYNGHAM and is written by Thomas Jarman.

  • @natkretep Thank you. We used to sing this tune in College. LOVE IT.

  • Great Hymn Wonderful Tune

    Awesome Singing

    GOD BLESS

  • Were I the music leader in my church we would sing this every Sunday! I have sung this hymn since childhood to AZMON but this melody is new to me. I would love to locate it in print. It is surely a hand-in-glove fit!. The enthusiasm of the singers is congateous and their singing technique of the best! Thanks for sharing on youtube.

  • The most beautiful version of this hymn, i wish the churches will include at least one hymn during sunday. These hymns will never lose their trite. I love it and thanks Youtube for enabling this privileges that ar e almost extinct in todays churches

  • And to those who bear mindless obedience to the doctrine of lies and who have blinded themselves to the truth--you have given up your search for the truth and closed your mind to fact. God has promised that all who earnestly seek the truth will find it. You have given up and given in to the evil one. Each of us will have eternal life, some in Heaven, far more in Hell. It's your choice. All you need do is to look for the truth. Those who choose not to see will not be able to see. Open up!

  • this is so totaly epic, it sounds so amazing especialy when you have a thousand people actuly singing it

  • We who have tasted His salvation, let's lift our voices and praise His great redeeming work as we ponder upon the words of this wonderful hymn.

  • I challenge all the Christians in the entire planet -layman and church leaders alike- to pray God that the volcanic eruption I stated below would not happen:

"Before this year will be over, 2 volcanic eruptions will shake the United States of America. The name of these volcanoes had something to do with faith."

If despite of your prayer these faithful volcanoes had erupted, then, know and understand that God is with me, therefore you are under obligation to listen to me

  • It's me, again. Today (September 6), we sang this as the closing hymn. And it was to the tune, AZMON.

  • I love this version.....It does sound like something from Handel's time(I know that it was one of wesley's hymns).......But to me to try to jazz it up anyway damages the whole thing.......This version is outstanding....Like it should be sung.....It can still do it for me.....It does what it says on the tin......

  • Except in Wesley's time it would have been played by a band of musicians and sung by west gallery singers. You could argue that transferring it to choir/organ is jazzing it up ;)

Would be fun to hear what it would have sounded like originally - a lot more raucous I expect, especially in the second half of each verse!

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Feb. 1), we sang this as our opening hymn. However, it was to the tune, AZMON, composed by Carl G. Glaser and arranged by Lowell Mason. It is #886 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.

  • Hey, Azmon is the tune that Methodists/Lutherans in America use, but in the UK the tunes Lydia, Richmond or University are favoured. Lyngham is often used in large congregation, and in the Welsh inter-denominational hymnal 'Caneuon Ffydd' Lyngham is the tune that corresponds with this hymn.

  • The Lord is good.

  • @jn829 he's alright.

  • Awesome - great voices, BLESSINGS

  • Beautifully sung.
