Health care was very expensive then, as it should ever be. But there are lots of markets of many kinds ( and stablishment parasites) taking profits on it. Take this into account, when criticizing only well intentioned persons , working in your health system.
Patient satisfaction in the UK has fallen dramatically. It was at 74% in 1983. It is now down to 49%. Staff satisfaction is not even monitored in the UK. There is no department / body at present which can monitor staff stress / satisfaction / and morale.
@Aaron1912 No it isn't you clown it's somewhere in the 80% 90% region if you look. I think you'll find that most people or all decent people that care for everyone in the country actually love the NHS.
@Aaron1912 i do believe you've been fudging the statistics good sir, just like Lansley. BBC News headline 22.03.11: "Public satisfaction with the NHS has reached record levels, according to a leading health economist."
OK, you've convinced me... let's dissolve the NHS and let the free market take hold on British healthcare. It has worked so well in the US (especially for the poor and out-of-work).
@MrBoyuki I don't have health care. When I get sick I go to the Doc-in-the-box like everyone else. I wouldn't mind a subsidy of some sort but I sure don't want to destroy my country the way Britain destroyed its self.
@sabrinacle I wonder what hard evidence you have for your statement? Personally, I believe the NHS is the greatest achievement of any British government. If you can't understand that, then I truly dispair.
@sabrinacle I don't have hard evidence. I have anecdotal evidence. If I had empirical evidence, I would present it. When our Welsh relatives come to visit us, they constantly marvel at how well things like public transportation work here compared to there. What do you want. I'm not a scientist, but I believe my relatives and I believe my husband
I want an American Health Service :( "Obamacare" is nothing but a subsidy to drug companies.. Single payer is the way to go!

It would seem that everyone hates the healthcare they have... I guess dissatisfaction in the natural state of being.

The NHS ward I went to when I was injured seemed pretty spotless to me.

@HarborGuy Mate, the NHS is brilliant. It makes me really proud.
You don't know what you're talking about. I have American friends who have come to the UK and changed their minds about the NHS in no time at all.
It is a fantastic system. You would believe that too if you could only see the good work that iti does.

my husband is visiting in Wales right now. He says it is a nightmare over there. So many things run down and out of date
