  • Torx bits make tolerable screw extractors if you don't have anything else.

  • Most of the time i weld a nut on , best way to remove broken bolts

  • Hey, John. Have you ever used a left hand twist drill bit for screw extraction? I have about a 75 percent success rate with left hand bits for bolts that aren't to bad. The hard part is centering the bit.

  • @joby613 - I use them when ever I can. Just removed a bolt from a flywheel a couple of days ago using a left-hand drill bit.

  • yeah fuck you. you and all ur grate tools. do it in ur garden u prick. fucking american world police arsholes

  • How is called the "easy out punch tool thing" please?

  • Can I do this same method for alternator brackets?

  • i have a small around 6mm broken nut below the surface on my fuel tank near the pump... i dont think i wanna weld or do anything involving heat because its on top of the fuel tank... any ideas? i really need some help on this... i dont wanna change the whole tank because of this!

  • @NEVERENDS90 - you may have to change the tank, or at least take it out to remove the broken fastener

  • The main problem extracting a broken screw `stub' stuck in is to drill a hole exactly at its centre when it is having a broken uneven face. To make even worse someone would have used a CENTRE & hammered pits to`ring it out' and failed miserably leaving havoc! A centre drill or twist drill break inside makes the situation mad! It is always easy to blame saying `You didn't drill exactly at the centre & You damaged the threads'(eg: Dia1/4"or 5/16"broken screws).I feel something more to be invented!

  • show us how to do this with a broken head bolt that is hardend steel, not a soft exhaust bolt, that is broken off even with the engine block and repairs or being done with the engine in a peterbuilt tractor. also almost forgot ,this is being do with a hand drill. studs are 5/8'. good chance it will not go as well as your demo. for a little bitty job like the demo. set of left handed drill bits are the way to go. when done right they are productive .

  • If you write a book about how to deal with broken bolts, I`ll by it! Good video

  • @fyfanharrusett - See if you can find a copy fo Sunnen's Complete Cylinder Head and Engine Rebuilding Handbook, I wrote it in 1998 - try ebay, because they are out of print.

  • @fiatnutz Ha. i have that book. Who would have thought that I'd be watching your vids on Youtube over a decade since I bought it.

  • @fiatnutz Is there nothing you cant do?

    Your an automotive machining GOD!!!

  • Great video! Thanks

  • neat, I remember I had to do this with hand drill but very very carefull I had to drill broken bolt and it was tough one but I got it out.

  • chainsawnutz?

  • nice job, this brings back memories of one i did years ago, i managed to break the easy out off inside the bolt :(.

  • try to weld a little tower on a bolt an squeeze it with a pliers, hit it with a hammer and just turn it off using with a spray u use. this is the way i do. its faster.

  • @Rokiz2006 You can't really do that when the bolt is broken off at the substrate like the one in this video.

  • Cool video. Broken bolts are always the worst!

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • thats nice.

  • The drill bits your using are nice! What brand are they?

  • Much better choice of sound for your title slides. If I had one suggestion, it would be to turn down the sound levels on the title slides to match the sound levels of the rest of the video. Thanks for showing the correct technique to remove a broken bolt. I have always wanted to know how to do that.

  • @erichill13 I like the fiat LOUD :) good choice John.

  • very nice

  • nice nice.
