AMazing! Thank you for making this! His physical abilities were only half of the great singer that David was. The other half is how he sang with all his heart! The Greatest who ever lived period.
i had to get my husband back here to listen to this-he is a music professor at a college here in san antonio-he plays flute, sax ,keyboard and sings and toured with some of the great soul singers like Ben E. King, the Shirelles, Johnny Winter and many others. He wants to tell you what an outstanding job you have done on this video-me too-I played classical violin and piano until I was in college but I was not that great. But we both want to tell how great this is again and again, thank you!
THANK YOU! HEART PRINTING CHILLING! HEART AND SOUL SHINE!!!! WE AS HIS FANS SHOULD INTRODUCE HIM TO THE WORLD AS THE REAL MASTER AND MAN THAT HE TRUELY WAS. HIS TIME IS NOW! I PRAY THAT MR. GORDY WOULD RELEASE ALL OF HIS ALBUMS THAT ARE SEALED IN HIS VAULT. DAVID COULD SING ABOUT "FLOUR" AND BECAUSE HE KNEW HIS AUTHENTIC HEART, AND SOUL PRINT. HIS IMPRESSION CAN ONLY STIRR UP LOVE, PEACE AND HARMONY. ONLY TRUTH WILL RELEASE HIS PAIN, THAT HE ENDURED OR GAVE. HE WAS NOT, A PUSH OVER.
I used to have (sad that I have to use a past tense) every album of his on CD. A friend copied them from the original vinyls (except for DAVID, I had a numbered copy) ... And I recognized every squeal, squeak, and holler here ... But I never REALLY considered what ruff's range was ... it's insane to see it layed out before me. And here we are (as a society) giving Hanah Montana our hard earned money .... God I wish we still valued talent. Anywho enough ranting lol ... Great vid. Thanks for it.
A very extremely talented man who was very troubled and never got the recognition that he deserved as a solo artist. He was a rebel and it cost him big time!
What a shame his talent was wasted with politics. He really was the reason the Temptations evolved. So sad that the drugs finally got the best of him.

I've been listening to this video over and over again although it's full of snippets it's still nice to listen to. It must've taken you forever to cultivate all of those songs. I love David Ruffin and I've been listening to him very extensively as of late. The only song that I haven't listened to yet is the snippet that starts @ 3:44. What song is that if I may ask? Thank you!
David Ruffin WAS 'The Temptations'. Not to discredit the number of great voices that the group contained, but if there was ever a "lead voice" in that group, it was David - he carried the group in its glory years.
I am a loyal David Ruffin fan, and I honestly commend you for the effort you put into this clip. Thank you so much. I wonder if there are many people around who can escape David's emotional delivery of his material. David was one of the true greats of our times. Long live David Ruffin! *smiles
Most impressively, even with an incredible range, that wasn't even the most impressive he had to offer. His tonality, that warm rasp and his impassioned way of expressing that sort of glorious anguish were uniquely his own.
Probably my favorite singer of all time, with range being icing on the cake. I only wish he had access to better material later in his career. Things must have been seriously wrong, having your best album unreleased until 13 years after your death.
Thank You!! David Ruffin was,is,and will forever remain one of the GREATEST ARTISTS of this century!! The man was "The Master" David was a very Special and Unique talent!! His voice tone and masterful inflection of lyrics can NEVER be duplicated.
He constantly challenged Motown officials because he knew he wasn't getting fair treatment. Also, he could never escape his drug habit, and eventually that killed him.
He betta sang! I love him. His full range is on point! His head voice is on point, that 2nd C6 was AMAZING! Not only does he have a husky bottom, but he has a swift silky high, & a smoky middle. That's great! That 1st & 2nd C#6 were amazing too. His D6 were great too. OMG, the E6's too.
Do anybody know dat song at C#3? 0:56 - 1:00
