well, Mars is way above your critiquing for starters, jon theodore is a phenom as is Pridgen, this is one of the few bands ever that makes us the fan adjust to them. none of their albums is like the one before, some people just don't have the cognitive abilitiy to ponder what they are listening too. it takes me two weeks on average to digest a new ablum.

Lets just enjoy the fact that someone out there is making the music they want.....

i see where your coming from...but its not about how good or fast or how crazy you can sound. its about whether you are using your talents to make the song better. Jon theodore was freakin crazy but he had the perfect sound. Thomas pridgen goes....hmm wonder how insane I CAN BE during this song. omar shouldnt have to adjust to him. he should adjust to everyone else in the band. whether he is the closest thing to rich or freakin lars doesnt matter. its about sound not just talent

Pridgen has gave them a slightly different sound, and he's a very acquired taste in drumming but I think saying he ruined them is rather harsh. He challenged them is better way of putting it, he's brought a whole new edge to drums and is the closest thing to a modern Bodham or Rich we'll see I'm sure. I think their next album might cater more to Pridgen's style rather then Bedlam which sounds as thought it was written for Jon to play to. It's more that Omar is still getting adjusted to Pridgen.

Interesting approach, I always thought that The Bedlam in Goliath was written more for Pridgen´s type of playing, and I couldn´t imagine Theodore´s playing in the album, which made me feel that Pridgen was, and is right for the mars volta at this point.

Aside from the point that Omar described him as a "girlfriend who doesnt like the way you are" :P

Well its just Pridgen focuses more on screwing with the back beat while sticking to a very almost marching band style of rudiments in his rolls and beats and Jon played more of a standard style with a set back beat and more firm apporach to his playing. Like alot of Goliath was written with Jon playing in mind, however there were times where Omar catered more to Pridgen, case and point obiousiously Wax Simulacara. But I still don't feel Omar is being as play as he can be with Pridgen.
