@aber1998 How did they cheat? At the time, there was no substantial evidence to prove that the puck had fully crossed. I watched a great video earlier about how it might not have crossed the line 100%, even if it may have looked like it due to the fact that the puck was not on the ice and was sideways during "entry". You wouldn't want to win a cup that way anyways. Skeptics would never allow you to enjoy it, plus the doubt would always be there for everyone. There would be no glory that way.
@jimbodiced I would want my team to score a true 100%, non desputable goal that everyone could see and could never attempt to take back. That goal by Gelinas in game 6 was the right call in my opinion... It was simply far to controversial and you can`t call it a season on a play like that IMO. Calgary played very well and it is always going to hurt knowing you got THAT CLOSE. But the way I look at it is, if they were really destined to hoist the cup, it would have happened in game 7 regardless.

They'll definitely have a shot in 2010-2011. Vancouver's squad is looking pretty solid, and I think they present the best chance for Canada. Calgary has usually been in the playoff mix (and anything can happen there obviously). I'm not so sure if Montreal can put on a repeat performance from what they did this recent postseason. I don't expect much from Edmonton or Toronto. If Ottawa makes it, I don't expect them to go far (but again who knows).

Everyone saying that it should have ended in game 6 is an idiot. There was absolutely no conclusive evidence that puck had gone across the line. The white ice has to be evident between the puck and the goal line for the puck to have completely crossed into the net. The replay showed inconclusive, so even if they reviewed it, it would be unlikely that it would have been called a goal.
That was a great series though I could have done without TBay winning the Cup. Nothing worse than a group of one hit wonders. It's not even about a southern city claiming the cup, it's about a one hit wonder winning it and never being heard from again. Was hoping for Calgary in that series. Too bad they couldn't pull it out, though they may do something special this year...

As a Wild Fan I gotta say that the Flames were cheated out of the cup. Gelinas scored in overtime in Game 6, watch any video on youtube about it. The refs didn't even see the puck as it clearly crossed the red line. Sportscenter had a whole segment on this very issue with Barry Melrose. Either way, the Lightning got some sick ass uniforms and one hella of a team back then. Brad Richards, Vincent Lecaviller, Martin St. Louis, all we got is Gaborik up here who's always hurt. Koivu's our guy.
About that, the Flames themselves should've asked the refs to check if the goal went in. Yes, it may have crossed the goal line, but the Calgary players should've taken it upon themselves to ask for a review. They didn't & that's that. It all happened so fast that no one realized this until the play had long been resumed.
Almost 5 years later, & this is still in dispute. Yet Tampa deserved to hoist the Cup outright that year in the long run; they were the best team that whole season in '04...

Pittsburg got HAMMERED by the wings the ENTIRE game, they were held to 4 shots in the 2nd period and only 1 shot in the 3rd for pete sake. And its not like fleury was making saves like bulin here, Detroit just kept shooting but not taking quality shots. Pens just barely held on. No effort.

They'll definitely have a shot in 2010-2011. Vancouver's squad is looking pretty solid, and I think they present the best chance for Canada. Calgary has usually been in the playoff mix (and anything can happen there obviously). I'm not so sure if Montreal can put on a repeat performance from what they did this recent postseason. I don't expect much from Edmonton or Toronto. If Ottawa makes it, I don't expect them to go far (but again who knows).

Save for a mid-season slump, Tampa Bay was the most consistent team all around & were stacked from top to bottom in talent. They truely deserved to win that year. The Tampa Bay Lightning's Stanley Cup win was a crime against humanity. Martin Gelinas's disallowed goal in game 6 was the CUP WINNER!!!!. If the goal judge was smart. The Cup would've been in Calgary, but instead it went to the wrong team. I was playing with Calgary, I would've made the Lightning's return to Calgary the next season REALLY PAINFULL!!!!

Everyone saying that it should have ended in game 6 is an idiot. There was absolutely no conclusive evidence that puck had gone across the line. The white ice has to be evident between the puck and the goal line for the puck to have completely crossed into the net. The replay showed inconclusive, so even if they reviewed it, it would be unlikely that it would have been called a goal.

As a Wild Fan I gotta say that the Flames were cheated out of the cup. Gelinas scored in overtime in Game 6, watch any video on youtube about it. The refs didn't even see the puck as it clearly crossed the red line. Sportscenter had a whole segment on this very issue with Barry Melrose. Either way, the Lightning got some sick ass uniforms and one hella of a team back then. Brad Richards, Vincent Lecaviller, Martin St. Louis, all we got is Gaborik up here who's always hurt. About that, the Flames themselves should've asked the refs to check if the goal went in. Yes, it may have crossed the goal line, but the Calgary players should've taken it upon themselves to ask for a review. They didn't & that's that. It all happened so fast that no one realized this until the play had long been resumed.
Almost 5 years later, & this is still in dispute. Yet Tampa deserved to hoist the Cup outright that year in the long run; they were the best team that whole season in '04...

as good of a staement that year, Calgary was 6th seed and knocked out the top 3 seeds who they were heavy underdogs to every series, they were quite heavy underdogs this year, and u can't say they choked, the game was decided by one goal, again ONE SINGLE GOAL in game 7, the flames, like other teams, can't take a cup on the road in game 7, thwe series went back and forth, calgary did not choke, tampa bay was more prepared for this one game

Not for nothing but HOW did the pens win that game. I mean other than talbot. I watched that game, when you compare THAT game 7, to this one and the one between the canes and oilers you shake your head.
Pittsburg got HAMMERED by the wings the ENTIRE game, they were held to 4 shots in the 2nd period and only 1 shot in the 3rd for pete sake. And its not like fleury was making saves like bulin here, Detroit just kept shooting but not taking quality shots. Pens just barely held on. No effort.
