most competitive drifting is over 30mph controlled skids as well. whats wrong with driving a car hard too? rally messes up cars pretty bad, and anyone who really enjoys drifting will drive a chassis past the point of anything resembling alignment. any type of racing destroys cars and engines, thats why it costs money.

The F20C still sounded a bit like an original 4AGE? Could it be the exhaust system and pipework that caused this?
dude that's just the cost of the motor. Don't forget transmission and just about custom parts everywhere. A Honda motor isn't exactly designed to fit in a Toyota so you're ganna need some work. It's deff ganna cost more then 5 stacks.

Costs alot less to install a F20C with a much better transmission built to handle 250bhp than a 250hp 4AGE... I'd rather spend the less than $10K for a reliable setup like this one than the same for a turbo or $20K+ for a race oriented N/A 4AG setup that could grenade at any moment.
The Toyota 4A-GE is a reliable powertrain in the first place. I don't really see the point in swapping it for the S2K's F20C engine. It's just money wasted that could've been put to use in modding the original engine, to me.
good luck getting anywhere near the same power as an f20 with a 4age. i love 4ag's but the weak point of their na ability has to be the power for sure. still one of my favorite engines for the ability for mods and throttle response though.
i really hope your joking... a hasselgren high strung 4ag makes about 240 hp and thats a $30k engine. the f20 makes that and more torque stock. the f20 is a way better starting point. oh yeah i'd trust honda oem over anything any day of the week, and i'm a toyota guy.

RZsupra, there's no such thing as a NA 450-500hp 4age; even the highest tuned f20c's, make 320 hp at most NA. I don't know of any 1.6-2.7 liter 4 cylinder motors making this much NA, you're talking about 281hp/liter at least for the 450 hp figure. BTW, if you're talking turbo, inlinepro, has an f20c easily making 750RWHP at 30psi with at least 10psi left... This is to the wheels... I don't know many if any 4age's making that kind of power. ptdude805 is correct about the hasselgren
I have to stand behind you on this one. My 240 has the stock KA24DE (94) and I have done EVERYTHING under the sun to the engine EXCEPT forced induction and untuned Im looking at 285 to the rearwheels on the dyno. And to bikutorukun, I think this is that same car throughout as it progresses down the evolutionary chain.
Total waste of money unless the engine was little or nothing. A 16v 4ag could have been fully built for this Hachi. We have built many 4ag's and DO know you can get alot more power for the dollars spent on this motor...Hell, could have even boosted it for less than spent on the money. Unless you are a Honda fan, I find this a pointless job. But the install looked clean :I

you jsut contadicted yout previous statements, you say everyone does it the same way, wouldnt putting a 4ag in a sprinter these days be considered as doing the same thing, everyone does that, and putting a vtec ina sprinter is way different from putting a B16a in an EK civic or wateva, ive always wanted to do a F20C swap, coz who wouldnt want to go from a 20 year old hard revving NA engine, to aless then 5 year old hard revving NA engine, especially when competing in MSC, its more reliable

people do put SR20 into 86s alot. and ive seen a few 1J/2JZ 85/86's aswell... but Rb20? whats the point? they are heavier than f20c, and very old engines. its about weight balance when putting in a SR or F20C with that extra bit of torque. A AE86 is a very light car so not much power is needed to get the tyres spinning therefore putting a light torquey engine is best to keep the original nimble-ness of the car with extra power. my opinion

you still can stay competitive with toyota engines by modifying the 4A-G or by swapping a 4A-GE 20v silvertop, blacktop wich is the next generation and works on the 5 valves per cylindrer + VVT or you can order a TRD develloped engine that can do 260 hp @ 12,000 rpm if you dont want to modify a 4A-GE yourself ... even the best AE86 drift machine in the world have a 4A-GE and with Keiichi Tsuchiya,the owner and drift king, driving it you can't say its not a monster

Vtec or some sort of variable valve timing is everywhere now days in modern cars.Don't diss on Vtec cuz Toyota has vtec now, just in a different form of name.
its not the same system , VVT changes the valve timing according to rev of the engine and the VTEC is using a system of valve and pressure wich permite to let the valves open longer and bigger so the mix of air / fuel circulate faster and the mix is also more important in space ... after that people tell me i dont do research ...

i dont know how it is in new zealand but in quebec, Canada there are honda engines and vehicles everywere so people who like diffence are kinda really tired of that... sorry if i was hard but people around 18 always look for honda and are like ahaha honda is better , honda kills everything so ... what i wanted to say is build something different from others , it sucks when everybody is built the same way... there is always a way

you jsut contadicted yout previous statements, you say everyone does it the same way, wouldnt putting a 4ag in a sprinter these days be considered as doing the same thing, everyone does that, and putting a vtec ina sprinter is way different from putting a B16a in an EK civic or wateva, ive always wanted to do a F20C swap, coz who wouldnt want to go from a 20 year old hard revving NA engine, to aless then 5 year old hard revving NA engine, especially when competing in MSC, its more reliable

I agree with you, people nowadays only think vtec, what about sr20 or rb20 or 1jz or 2jz, here in my country almost all hachi rokus have 1jz or 2jz, some have rb20 and sr20 and other have 20v with turbo, but never vtec, that would be like cheating your love one

actually, it's more suited to put an f20c into a car like this because it's a lot lighter than a straight 6 such as the rb or jz engines.

people do put SR20 into 86s alot. and ive seen a few 1J/2JZ 85/86's aswell... but Rb20? whats the point? they are heavier than f20c, and very old engines. its about weight balance when putting in a SR or F20C with that extra bit of torque. A AE86 is a very light car so not much power is needed to get the tyres spinning therefore putting a light torquey engine is best to keep the original nimble-ness of the car with extra power. my opinion

Ur right about the ae86 being born to have a 4age...but it was born along time ago,& sadly not as competitive as it once was. the ae86 was born to be a hard revin N\A rwd with near perfect balance...& toyota succeeded...back in 86...22years later the old girl is still fun-But with an up date of a s2k powerplant shes back to her former glory. Killing her soul would be putting anything other than a rev happy 4cyl N/A in her. PS-RED is faster

you still can stay competitive with toyota engines by modifying the 4A-G or by swapping a 4A-GE 20v silvertop, blacktop wich is the next generation and works on the 5 valves per cylindrer + VVT or you can order a TRD develloped engine that can do 260 hp @ 12,000 rpm if you dont want to modify a 4A-GE yourself ... even the best AE86 drift machine in the world have a 4A-GE and with Keiichi Tsuchiya,the owner and drift king, driving it you can't say its not a monster

Serious kid you think it's easy to develop 260hp in a 4age. Taka Aono 4age motor worth close up to $12,000.. Not to mention hes runing rich gasoline. Vtec or some sort of variable valve timing is everywhere now days in modern cars.Don't diss on Vtec cuz Toyota has vtec now, just in a different form of name.

its not the same system , VVT changes the valve timing according to rev of the engine and the VTEC is using a system of valve and pressure wich permite to let the valves open longer and bigger so the mix of air / fuel circulate faster and the mix is also more important in space ... after that people tell me i dont do research ...
