Can you comment on a comparable Mole-Richardson unit as well? Durablity-wise -- are these all on the same page? Also, in general, do you notice any difference in light quality between the brands? For example, the Mole Richardson fresnels seem a bit more pebbled compared to the Arris... Lastly, Lowel lists the Pro as having a 6:1 zoom ratio, is that different than what you were talking about?
@aksekili The Mole Inkie is roughly the equivalent light to the ARRI, as is the LTM Pepper. They are all fresnel lensed units of about the same size lens & bulb wattage, with similar travel in the spot/flood adjustment. I find the ARRI the most refined of the three, but they all have their proponents.
@MitchGross1 Lowel Pro lights are normally 2:1 (25-50 degree beam angle) when using the standard prismatic glass front. But for a hard "super-spot" effect, the front glass can be replaced with optional clear safety glass, giving a 10 degree very bright but non-focusing beam. 10 degrees to 50 degrees gives a 5:1 ratio, but it's not possible to do that as a continuous control. Don't see where you read 6:1 in the Lowell literature.
so used to a visible brightness intensity falloff in flood on virtually every unit I've worked with (including the Arri and Lowell units in this vid and their bigger intensity siblings) that it has become part of how I light. I'm working with a Dedo kit of these 150's tomorrow and I'm excited to try this new field of precision. That barndoor control is pure sex.
Amazing video Mitch! Thank you so much! Seeing them back to back in action makes the difference in price more than apparent! Dedotec looks like liquid gold. Awesome! However my wallet says Lowell to be financially realistic : ) Thanks again!
Dude that was an awesome video so helpful. I am in the market for lights and I don't know much about them and because I don't live in LA or New York it is hard to actually see these in a store and be able to try them.
While more expensive at initial purchase, the Dedos are far more powerful and versatile. The lamps are less expensive and last much longer since they are low voltage. So if you can afford it, I definitely recommend saving up for the Dedo.
Thanks for the informative review!

I Love my Arri Juniors, however I don't own any Dedo's but will eventually. Looking forward to using them!

Thanks for the explanation. Would you recommend the Arri for a limited budget? Or one should save more and go for the dedos?
