  • this is why god made the piano.

  • Sin duda mi pieza favorita del disco "From the Edge of Time" ; ojalá pudieran subir también el video sin ninguna edición. Gracias.

  • Good job.

  • This piece sounds so much better on a Bechstein Piano instead of the always played Steinway. (Nothing against Steinway, though, but it just sounds better on this one in my opinion.)

  • Close your eyes, listen to something good

  • I think that if I'd ever hear this song played live by a wonderful pianist I'd probably cry like a baby there XD

  • Listen to Arvo Part play this. You didn't properly capture the style of the piece.

  • A performer isn´t a emulator of the composers' manner of playing.

Would be impossible to capture the styles of Mozart, Bach, Liszt then!

  • @TheUberLeetHax

Arvo would be the first to admit that doesn't matter. In fact, playing it exactly like Arvo does would defeat the point of the piece.

  • Very beautiful! You did it very well. I love his music. Arvo Pärt is very special...

  • I just found it because my name is Alina, an d I thougt I could search for any videos...

But I never imagined to find an amazing and touching song like this...it's perfect!

  • Oh yes, very curious. And a really beautiful and enigmatic name, with different and always nobles significances in several cultures... The piece will be available on CD very very soon with a much more better quality sound, I´ll inform if you want...

  • @VICTORMANUELMORALES Thank you! *-* I really love this piece...it touches me >.<

  • @VICTORMANUELMORALES i'd like to be informed (:

  • Beautiful! We hear the piano instead of the rain drops. So the piano is raining too...:)

  • I just love this amazing and beautiful music..

@melliegfellernful wtf? such dir freunde oO

  • Part is fast becoming a very popular composer. Already there are many copycats flourishing.

  • Wow this is beautiful. (:

listen to Cantus in memory of Benjamin Britten.

  • I love Schönberg and Webern, but Pärt is the very best!

  • I love the way the overtones hang in the air. It gives the effect of one of Part's choral works. Listen to his Magnificat for example. He's such an incredible composer!

  • This rain effect is supremely annoying. It's distracting and cheesy.

  • When you listen to music simply close your eyes. It´s not necessary to see the performer.

  • @VICTORMANUELMORALES Doesn't deter the point that the rain effect is stupid.

  • i heard this just 5 minutes ago on the radio and coppied down as much info as i could. so beautiful...

  • So very beautiful.

  • That's why it was called Minimal Music ;)

  • UHM ITS MINIMIALISM. That's the whole point. The thing is, it's so simple, but he can still make it so touching and beautiful.

  • 5* well played .. and nice piano !

  • That mere srufac eof rain was not necessary, but hardly.

  • In those darkest melancholy moments when we all need to have a moment to reflect and ponder with spiritual uplift just as we dream as we visualise a glowing log fire with embers bright. This is that moment. A

  • J'ai écouté cette musique dans le film" La chambre des officiers" ça m'a bouleversé tellement émouvant et pénétrant de tristesse et de spleen, tout simplement sublimement mélancolique, Bravo

  • It was also very appropriately used in the movie "Gerry" by Gus van Sant

  • Arvo Paerts music speaks of the "BEAUTY Of the INFINITE".

  • Absolutely incredible. You nailed the feel for this song.

    One of my new favorites.

  • A beautiful performance of a beautiful work. Straight into my favourites.

  • A superb performance of a work I wasn't formerly interested in. And the visual is so fitting: simple and clear as a tear.

  • this is music.. this is my favourite piece of music ever.. i cry every time i hear it..it is so beautiful and perfect..

  • Then maybe you could try listening to "1981" for Piano solo by Lepo Sumera, too

  • Stunning...

  • Definitely one of the most touching pieces I've ever heard. I first heard it on the Van Sant film 'Gerry'. Oh, how it haunts me now. Wonderfully performed.

  • Thank you very much for your words, and congratulations for your talent...

  • Majestic brillance modestly portraide.

  • Wonderful video you made. It goes well with music. Well done..

  • The piano is slightly out of tune, or is it the acoustics?

  • Maybe the acoustic of the hall.....

  • I guess so! Your playing is beautiful. Victor, do you know the Mompou "Il lago"? The Stephen Reynolds "Chanson", and the Arvo Part "Variationen"? I have not seen these pieces on YouTube. Best wishes and thanks for the response! Noshir

  • I play "Variationen zur gesandung von Arinushka" too, in fact, I will record this pieces including Spiegel im Spiegel very soon, I will say you when the cd be available... I don´t know the piece of Raynolds, but I have several recordings of the complete piano music by Mompou, including the composer´s himself... thanks for your comments, and good luck... KEEP IN CONTACT

  • I surely will, Victor. Thanks, and all best wishes for the recording. Have you heard the work of the pianist Gustavo Romero? It's he who mentioned these pieces to me and I am now curious about them! Again, yours is lovely playing. N.

  • I have never listened to Gustavo Romero, but some days ago I found some videos here and he´s absolutely a excellent concert pianist, is he your friend? are you pianist too? kind regards

  • Hey Victor! Yes, Gustavo is a spectacular artist. He has a website, and has made several excellent recordings. We have been friends for 20 years. I am not a pianist, but a teacher. I love the piano and its literature intensely! You should hear Gustavo's Debussy, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Albeniz, Mompou, and Chopin on disc. It is really sublime. N.

  • Its always about the feel of the music and what it means to us personaly, thats what music is.

  • Absolutely agree with you, thank you very much for comments...

  • I play it too on my piano, Fur Alina is sooo beautiful.

  • Muy interesante este pieza!! Gracias por compartir este video!! Que bueno que difundas estas obras tan poco interpretadas en concierto!

  • Unusual Presentation.. Sincere and in depth, Composer and Pianist both...5*

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • This has great depth, and I like the "watery"

    effect!

  • Precioso.

  • magnífica versión de una música que desnuda el alma para exponerla en su esencia

  • Reflective composition, very introspective with relationships between notes. Thx for the posting..5^
