It's not that Hayate is a bad character[although I don't like him] it's just that the developers didn't have ninja mask outfits for Kasumi and Ayane. And ninjas from time to time hide their faces.

Hayate wasn't a failed expirement, Lisa labled him that so later she could use him to destroy DOATEC. Many like to claim Hayate is weak based upon his defeat by Raidou. Yet many don't realize that happened before DOA1, this is DOA4. Even Ryu was wuss before getting killed by some Samurai and being rivived by a falcon. For all that Ryu has done, he still hasn't taken on DOATEC by himself, he ain't stupid.

According to the strength rankings, he is #1 across all regions on Xbox Live.

DoA is potentially the best fighting game out there, but falls behind for a number of reasons. It has amazing graphics and music but the combo system is too easy, and there's not enough story.

That said, I like DoA but wish it was as story-heavy as Tekken and Soul Calibur which retain their status as good 3-D fighters and still have story and sex appeal.

Hayate and "Ein" aren't different at all. The thing was in dead or alive 2 Ein had lost his memory and his fighting skill was reduced to karate...and that's it. Nothing big. He regains his skill back in Dead or alive 3. I don't know what happened in DOA1 though

His real name is Hayate, but he was kidnapped by DOATEC, and then left in Germany to die. He lost his memory and took the name Ein.. He even changed his fighting style to Karate. But in DoA2 he got back his memory and remembered he was a ninja...

By the way, that last scene ALSO occurs in Ayane's storyline. But in Ayane's storyline, Hayate does NOT get back up after protecting Ayane from the laser, so Ayane has to fight ALPHA-152 instead.
