  • Tremednously helpful, thorough & informative series of reviews - in terms of making my decsion to buy a Drobo (I did - added 4 x 2TB WD Caviar Green drives) but also in terms of setting the kit up. Thank you! Set up my Drobo & drives today . The discrepancies that the review mentions, with the manual -v- on screen steps - persist, even with a new version of the manual! These videos thus remain relevant & excellent. BTW, Drobo fan noise near imperceptible - hard drive selection is critical.

  • can you confirm that the wd 3tb hdd work in the drobo?

  • @crocop4life - their sites says: New larger capacity drives (e.g. 2.5TB, 3TB) are now available for purchase in 3.5in SATA models. Drobo supports the use of these high-capacity drives in Drobo systems to allow users to continue to expand their Drobo storage.

Users of Drobo products can download and apply a free firmware update for their Drobo system and make use of drives >2TB

best to write them and check the model you want to use is ok i guess

  • @dancetech checked the website, they just posted an update and they do support the wd 3tb thanks. Also your reviews on this product are great, best on youtube.

  • @crocop4life - yeah i saw that on their site when i checked your last message, my previous reply was meaning that although they DO support up to 3tb now i would still advise that you email them to check the actual make/model you intend to use... just to be 100% sure! (you dont wanna waste your money buying multiple 3tb drives only to find for some odd reason the make/model you bought isnt compatible) - lemme know how it goes if you do install those big drives mate! Good luck with it.

  • sorry this was late being put online - had to change ISP recently and hence the delay
