And finally it's better like this, Tuomas wanted nightwish to enter in another era, to turn the page after that. I think they did a good job with taking Anette. Sure, with Tarja Nightwish was amazing, but I think it all kinda started to sound the same. Anette took a different sound to the band, and that gives more options to the band. It was a bold move, but eventually it worked out in my opinion. Doesn't mean the old NW isn't epic too, but Anette brings more variety.

I wanted to say that Anette's voice makes me think about cristal, and Tarja's about a ruby, if you see. Something warm et passionate about Tarja's voice, like velvet. For Anette, i think about snow, wind, something like this...
Anette has a great voice yes, no doubt. HOWEVER, its not for nightwish, the new songs are wasted on her non-operatic voice, they should have chosen someone with an opera style then they could sing the older songs which we all know and love, i have nothing against her but Anette can not sing the previous songs.
@darkwingx1 some of them, yet i personally think that anette does better in singing the once-songs than tarja but the songs from oceanborn and wishmaster, yes it's sad, they are no more performed
@centurychild10 i suppose everyone has different tastes and opinions on it, the live show End of an era Tarja sings the songs from the 'once' album perfect and with ease, so id disagree Annete could sing them any better, some say move on, but iv tryed listening to the new songs so much incase it would grow on me, it didnt and i dont think it ever will :(
I think they're both fantastic, Tarja has a great voice but no soft emotions in, and fits perfectly for rapid songs or for condescendent ballads. Then so Anette has the voice for softer songs, and contrarily angry ones (like in "sahara")
i think they'd better be both in the band for different levels of emotions. With Tarja, the songs are grandiose, incisive, and with Anette they are wider and pure. Nightwish isn't dead, they just do what they couldn't with Tarja. Everyone agrees that Anette can't sing like Tarja, but it's true in the other way !
@Crimiette i have no idea how you think Tarja cannot sing 'pure'? the song Sleeping sun for example listen to her voice in that its also sung softly. she could sing all the previous songs well and many of them cover different emotions, and i have no doubt in her she could also sing the new songs. Anettes voice is wonderful, however it doesnt have the nightwish touch to it, i belive they should have chosen somebody more classicaly trained
@darkwingx1 I really hope that Tuomas and the rest of the band, reading all our comments, will change their minds about Annette and choose someone else!
u know Nightwish did this on purpose? they didnt want to replace tarja, they just wanted to grow..i think it's better that they have a different style now than if they had a bad tarja imitation ..in this case everybody would cry even more.
