He likes to go on about the hymns, but when these hymns first primarily came around in the 1700s-1800s, were these warmly embraced when they first came around? Are these the only ordained songs in the history of time to be "approved" for this current church age to ever be sung?

I agree with his views, but I disagree that all of these styles of type and music can be inherently sinful; a guitar joined with a drum and whatever cannot make one sin. Also, music that sings of good things that does not lift self and can also sing of true real-life situations are also not sinful, those songs are out there.

And yes, you can be taught wrong doctrine in song, but it's really bad when you decide to follow it, even though its best not to be in that situation in the first place.

For the English-speaking peoples, the King James Bible is authoritative because it is the Holy Scriptures, the inspired words of God which He Himself has preserved in their entirety.

The Lord Jesus Christ said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away" (Mark 13:31).

Ancient MSs which are not the Holy Bible, however, may or may not have valid historic merit and can be questioned for their accuracy, internal consistency, and the motive of their scribes.

You say we shouldn't have any music in our lives except what comes out of our own mouth, or in my case, piano and various other instruments, yet I have seen videos you post of sceenery pictures and stuff like that, and they have music in the background. I am not against congregational singing at all in fact it fills me with the Spirit but it says right in Ephesians 5:19 sing to one another with psalms hymns and spiritual songs.

The phrase "making melody" comes from the Greek word "psallontes" which means "to rub or touch," "to twitch or twang." It was commonly used in Greek to refer to playing a stringed musical instrument.

have you heard clint black's "when I said I do?" thought not. i don't get this whole "flesh" business. we ARE flesh-we are made from flesh. no matter how spiritual you are, for example, you still have to eat. gospel music ministers to your soul; secular music helps you deal with the problems, pains, and happiness you go through on a day to basis. when I want comfort for a human heartache, just talking about how great god is doesn't help. i want a song to tell me it's ok, to comfort me.

There's one word in Music, and that's GERMAN. The big four, Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Wagner.  Of those, almost all of Bach's music is about Jesus Christ and salvation. But the other three are still very good.
