There's no way to know what Japan would have become. Had the US not sent Perry, perhaps some other country with trade aspirations would have sent ships. The tragedy of Japan isn't that US forced them to open a couple ports in 1850's, the tragedy is that Japan's military hijacked and destroyed her elected government in the 1920's & 30's and brought ruin to such a beautiful country and her people... and to the millions who died in countries Japan invaded.
American history books admit to invading Latin American countries 13 times that century without a declaration of war ever. Even if only to overthrow a democratically elected gov't we didn't like.
FDR himself responsible for such 'infamy'.
Then we hung Kimmel out as scapegoat unjustly alone.
I agree that Kimmel was treated poorly. It was General Short's responsibility to protect the fleet when it was in port. Dugout Doug MacArthur sat in his bunker in The Philippines while his air force was destroyed on the ground. I would have kept Kimmel and sacked Mac and Short.
We don't have a democracy here in the US. We have a republic, which is not the same thing. Stupid electoral college gave Bush the presidency in 2000, even tho he lost the popular vote by 500,000. The college gives states power so the votes in some states count for more than in other states. In a real democracy, every vote counts equally.

The United States organized "Flying Tigers" before World War II, and was attacking Japan.
Moreover, China tried to large-scale make an air raid to Japan before World War II.

Major reason world distrusts us is our hypocrisy.

What hypocrisy.

@Wargamers13: You clearly do not understand the definition of hypocrisy, with what you're stating.
