  • later to be a SIMPSONS TREEHOUSE OF HORROR, where Bart plays the Brat with the Evil Powers

  • shes going to drop that kid first chance she gets

  • i would take her to pound town

  • Wow, I never noticed how much you can hear Bart Simpson in Nancy Cartwright's voice at :48.

  • i guess it goes to show yo that we're not ready for power. maybe we never will be. even an innocent child can be corrupted by it. if he were to come with me he'd either have to wish his powers away or downgrade them to a very low level so he could still use them to help people

  • hellen is a fine ass

  • @RMena64 yessir

  • Man, Taz looked really fucked up in this!

  • I would tell that kid he couldnt come with me because Im scared of him too because he doesnt control the bad he wishes on others and I would also tell him to bring his parents back and respect THEM and be good to THEM

  • He brought Slimer from "Ghostbusters" into the real world? He really IS evil!!

  • holy crap it's bart simpson!

  • aikaramba

  • Oh wow, all wishes you have can come true and the kid's unhappy. Fucking ridiculous.

  • i LOVE the Devil he summons (i figure its a Devil cause its implying its the Tasmanian Devil from the loony tunes, but it ISN'T the same, so i figure its just a Devil instead of a Tasmanian Devil which has hair and stuff) hahaha... either way its AMAZING i wish i knew its correct name though

  • Billy Mumy was scary as Anthony. This kid however is an obnoxious douche.

  • Interesting how the soundtrack for the WB cartoon Behind the Meatball (Tashlin, 1945) was used. Whenever I watch that title, this creepy part comes to mind

  • yay john lithgow antics

  • In the original story by Jerome Bixby, the doctor delivering him when he was born tried to kill him. In the story Bixby writes: "Anthony came into the room" The word 'came' is in italics. There are also references to his "purple gaze" I don't think Anthony looks like a little kid at all

  • why doesnt he wish for a big mansion with a lot of beer and bitches??what a little asshole he just wants to torture people

  • Ethel is played by Nancy Cartwright, more famous for being the voice of Bart Simpson.

Funny, here she gets trapped... in a cartoon.

  • this episode is similar to '1960's TZ episode called 'Happy Town'

  • Anthony: "I'm wishing you into Cartoon Land"

*Ethel lands in Springfield, butt-first on The Simpsons couch as Bart Simpson.*

  • am i the only one that wants to know why the an the hell the fake mom's holding a fish bowl?

  • No, don't wish for everyone he killed to come back, just drive off.

  • @Liamwitz Nah. The kid can do anything, he just doesn't know what to do. Teach him what to do...

  • I would wish for a much better car than that

  • This makes even Bjork's music videos look normal and coherant.

  • Check out 'It's a Good Life', the original short story by Jerome Bixby - it's a classic! A lot darker, with a unique creepy tone, and full of mystery. This version is really just flabby spectacle in comparison, and an excuse to show off (now dated) effects and lighting. And that's a good thing. I like that Joe Dante pissed all over the original. It's swell that he removed all allegory and insight and replaced it with puppets. It's a good thing.

  • @Skrankston It's not that bad. This has a very unsettling, sinister vibe to it that i find equally as creepy as the original episode myself. Joe Dante took the original concept and completely re-imagined it with his own unique cinematic style. It's very well acted too and the photography is intentionally stylized with the crazy angles and garish colors to represent Anthony's cartoon and video game obsessed state of mind. The creature effects by the brilliant Rob Bottin are outstanding as well.

  • @TheAltair4 Well said. It's too bad that some people are too simple to realize the set design was used to capture the childish feel of Anthony's imagination. As a kid, I really loved this segment. However, that was before I watched the original twilight zone episode from which this is based upon. I prefer the original to this one. The original was creepy and very ominous and had no happy ending to it. It's scarier that way. This version is too whimsical and upbeat to be scary.

  • @hshawn00 The original was darker and creepier overall, i admit, but this version has moments in it that still creep me out just as much and make me feel very uneasy. The reveal scene of Anthony's mouthless sister is the stuff nightmares are made of and the cartoonish set design combined with the stylized use of lighting and shadow are quite ominous looking to me and create a very creepy, sinister and unsettling vibe. Simply put, this version gave me nightmares as a kid while the original didn't.

  • @TheAltair4 Oh I agree about the reveal of the mouthless sister. That still gets to me.

  • @Skrankston "An excuse to show off (now dated) effects and lighting."

Oh, and you think the CGI effects and bland yellow/white lighting of today is any better? Listen kid, these effects were REAL LIFE props that were brought to life using mechanisms that people put their hard work and sweat into. And the lighting uses color to represent emotion, which I'm hard pressed to find today. Think about that.

  • @Skrankston Dante changed the message from "it's a good life AAAARGH" to "You'd stay with me?" "Yes" "Always?" "Always." "OK". I'm okay with that. It's more human.

  • Is anyone else turned on by this kid?

  • The moral of the story is that gorgeous women are better than everyone else

  • That kid is a pretty awesome actor

  • if only anthony was 10 years older, toys, sweets and bad things would be the last thing on his mind with that woman around. well maybe not so much bad things.

  • Anthony is the human equivalent of "AM" from Ellison's I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream

  • Anthony was already pissed at ethel but when she called him out in front of Helen and said all the things he had done to her, she sealed her damn fate. What a dummy. she should have discounted that note the second it was mentioned.

  • @dougvm1970 I always saw him more of a spoiled little shit who could fuck your world if he didnt get what he wanted. But yeah it's my favorite segment too, i love how cartoonish it is.

  • I saw this a long ago. But I liked this.

  • holy crap Helen is hot

  • I love the cartoon guy that comes out of the tv. Whatever happened to handmaking the creature props, huh? Now they're all CG...

  • I saw a segment within the last few years about the "teacher" lady vouching for "Anthony" in real life. He apparently got screwed over financially by his parents or something.

  • she is the voice of BART!!

  • wheres this kid know? possabley a coke head!

  • A th...a th...a that's all, Ethel!

  • is this based on "is a good life"???

  • Is that kid trying to get laid, well to be fair I'd tap that!

  • What about his sister, he leaves her sitting there without a mouth?

  • from 3:31 to 3:47.....that has to be the most demented Tasmanian Devil I've ever seen. From 4:11 to 4:16.......it looks like it's about to do a Jimmy Durante impression.

  • the guy doing the voice was in the original series. he was the main character in Time enough at last

  • 2:50 creeps me out

  • Joe Dante is a brilliant director, really. It's a shame he doesn't get more work.

  • a shot gun to the face of the twirp will stop him from wishing anything ever again

  • That boy is good actor. Has he been in any other movies?

  • @kenwayne96 Not really. This was probably his biggest movie role. He did do a semi popular sitcom in the 80s called Hogans Family but thats about it.

  • OMG JOHN LITHGOW!

  • This is simple ... create a family of robots, not real people, and wish for their AI programming to not be afraid of you.

They keep forgetting the whole free will principle in making these demonic child films.

  • Ethel is the voice of Bart Simpson!

  • The kid cant wish everything that he wants. If he could the "family" wouldnt fear him and Helen would be naked.

  • @NicosMind Oh yeah, Helen's definitely hot.

  • @NicosMind He's not old enough to understand wishing for grown up things. He isn't old enough to even think about changing other people's emotions and he isn't old enough to want to look at naked people.

  • @NicosMind That would mean he would have the power to take away peoples' free will. If he did that, he would prove himself a villain.

  • @IggyHazard he KILLED ethel, made his sister's mouth vanish...he's already the villan. I'd gain the kid's trust, before killing him. That type of power is too much for any man to handle. Wish no more hunger, ok. Wish no more murder/rape, no problem. Wish everybody happy? Wish no more pain or disapointment? The implications this would have would be tremendous, and life itself would mean nothing, if you could just wish it all away if you made a mistake.

  • @kdreamland Correct. Did you see the original Twilight Zone episode this segment was based on?

  • 2.50 he is on heroin

  • he's the antichrist

  • i liked the original version betterr...(its a better life)

  • @sexiiiazn101 "It's a Good Life"

And I agree, it was better. This was stupid, especially the ending where even though he maimed his sister did god knows what to his parents and killed the girl in the cartoon, he comes off as a misunderstood kid who can't understand why everyone is afraid of him. Gee, maybe if you weren't killing people, they wouldn't be so scared of you.

  • @PirateEyepatch

brilliantly put. The little fucker should have been capped.

  • sexy ass ethel.

  • @187SicknesS WTF??

  • Imagine Jim Carrey as Valentine

  • @CurseCreep ace ventura XD

  • UNA PROFECIA??? NANCY CARTWRIGHT ENTRO AL MUNDO DE LAS CARICATURAS, Y AUN DESPUES DE MAS DE 20 AÑOS, AUN CONTINUA AHI...

  • Anybody else BURST OUT IN LAUGHTER when he said "Th-the-the Thats all Ethel."

  • @irishfinger yeah me a lmao at his face so priceless

  • @candlePrince Yeah. Cos we need more porn.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • The character played by Ethel does voices on "The Simpson's."

  • I think I know where they got the idea for one of the Prius commercials.

  • the cartoon creatures are freakin scary as hell. if i saw that in real life, id piss my pants

  • Thank You Uncle Walt.

    R.I.P.

  • Anthony is so cute

  • Must be strange sitting next to someone who might as well be a freakin GOD! At least he's happy......for now

  • Ethel is an odd looking girl...

  • @ccipollini1984 I completely agree.

  • im a big movie maker but dang

  • i will never look at cartoons the same way again

  • I think this was a great time in cinema.

  • @LunaSeaSane Yeah it was. The 80s produced the most original and very best movies ever. It's shit now compared to back then.

  • @Lavern4101 The first TZ series I watched were in the 80s. Apart from the occasional, primal special FX, the acting was great. And in the 60s series it was just stellar. It's a sif they took their job more seriously. And in doing so they elevated the content of a show. Now they turned a brilliant series in a common, CGI generated, TV slot filler.

  • Oh Anthony, your not happy are you? Your power only makes people fear you, but you do not want them to. And it does not have to be that way, it can all be normal if you want it to be, you can be with people who will not be afraid of you, you can be happy. And all it takes is for you is one wish, one you haven't thought of yet. Your power only burdens you, but I will take that burden from you. Wish your powers unto me! Let me shoulder your burden.

Wait, you can't read my thoughts, can you?

  • @Shavarnarak Your words remind me of something the devil would say.

  • booty meatttt

  • Speaking of voice-over actors, William Demarest, the actor playing Anthony's "father", was for many years the voice of the Toaster in the Kelloggs Pop-Tarts commericals.

  • Ethel is Bart Simpson! Yeah

  • This is so fucking weird.

  • This is creepy! Interesting...But creepy!

  • There's some people I'd like to wish into Cartoonland.

Does Ethel's voice sound familiar? For those who don't know.......She's the voice of Bart Simpson.

  • she should have made that little kid wish her a better car... like a Delorean!!!

and maybe Mr. Valentine shouldn't be popping more pills, that's probably the reason why he's tripping balls inside the bathroom in the first place

  • @AliasGATC

Sorry to say this to you but the Delorean was a flop when it was first introduced. It struggled to do sub 11 second runs to 60mph, Road&Track managed 10.5 seconds, mostly because it was powered by an anemic Renault V6 from the early 70's. It was underpowered, poorly assembled in some Northern Ireland plant, and was literally a death trap in side collisions due to its t-shape chassis. A bad car.

If not for Back the the Future, nobody would collect Deloreans today.

  • @AliasGATC

By way of contrast that reliable Volkwagen has been made for 36 years, and is currently in its 6'th generation. Over 25 millions of them have been sold worldwide in those 36 years, making it the THIRD most common car model ever made. Yes, give me the Delorean, pardon my sarcasm.

Delorean went out of business for a good reason.Nobody wanted to buy his overpriced, underpowered cars, and that's when he tried to smuggle drugs to stay in the business. Then he was caught. Bye bye.

  • she should have made him wish her a cooler car... like a Delorean!!! :D

  • TAZZ LOOKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO F*****G CREEPY AND UGLY

  • Comment removed

  • Th-Th-Th Thats all Ethel!

  • I saw this movie on acid. Scariest experience of my life!

  • @alien8ted I believe it.This is freaky sober.

  • i know its ment to be tongue in cheek but the its a good life section was a kick n the balls to the original in my opinion.

  • Ethel is Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson

  • "I'm wishing you away into cartoon world." and from that day forward nancy cartwright spent the remainder of her life in the simpsons

  • @Shanethefilmmaker ahha oh you

  • @Shanethefilmmaker Well, not until 4 years later in 1987.

  • @bfdhvcnvvbjdn I know, "that day forward" is a saying

  • @Shanethefilmmaker I think it's amusing that in one of the treehouse of horrors episodes of the simpsons, Bart is basically the character of Anthony.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker I'm everything that goes bump in the night. I'm the monster dwelling under your bed. I'm the ghost that is not so friendly. I'm all the beasts and creatures from myths and legends. I am what you fear most. I only awake in October/or when great acts of violence occurs...So enjoy the rest of the 11 months of the year...

  • @Scarytail Go home pennywise,Just because the loser's club won't pay any attention to you doesn't mean you have to do your routine on others.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker I am not that wussy clown, I'm worse.

  • @Scarytail sure you are.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker It's all an act really.

  • @Scarytail dude even in text I knew you were acting.

  • @Scarytail acting on camera is one thing. If you are gonna try and scare someone through text, try to make it otherworldly. Distort the text a little. that way it swould look like an evil machine or something supernatiural is trying to reach somebody.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker th@t iz a goode idea.

  • @Scarytail ya exactly but distort it in a way that it seems like gibberish but is understandable like backwards speak.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker i shall work on that.

  • Freaky. 'nuff said.

  • the taz from the tv was cool

my mom's like ''Honey what is that? i said its just some sci fi movie

and she goes "ok then hope u dont have bad dreams

  • OOH the 3rd rock guy!! yeeah!

  • 02:42 A game of Tempest anybody? Warner Communications owned Atari, Inc. at the time so they could use it for the sound effects and save money.

  • 00:11 she like what the F##

  • nice, did a modern version of the kid who could control things with his mind

  • i seen this segment many times as a kid and remembered it.but seeing it now at 28 years old and what maybe 20 years later i never realized how scarey and truly creepy that part is damn movies now days .

  • @justin19822 very unnerving

  • @justin19822 It is scary in fact this whole sequence is disturbing.

  • Oy, Taz and Slimer should never have had a kid...O.O

  • Okay, that Segment that ends in this vid could have been a TV Pilot.
