Simon Posford is the magic behind Shpongle and yes, he sometimes DJ's under Shpongle (playing shpongle hits, and with Shpongletron Experience). I did however watch Simon Posford play Shpongle Live at Camp Bisco and I can say without a doubt it was one of the most life changing live band performances I have ever seen. I wont knock STS9 because they are one of my favorites, but Simon Posford is incred. talented.

I've yet to hear a band that sounds more than slightly similar to sts9 so i'd love for you to point out another group with striking similarities that just didn't get lucky like sts9. I still believe they've established a unique blend of sounds no one else has exploited. you can take any 1 element and find other groups that sound the same but all the elements combined form something people love.

Even the most technical of musicians understand timing is what makes truly beautiful and identifiable music. Listen to Keith Jarrett: a great technical pianist, but he's not filling every beat with the full scope of capability.

What STS9 does, which is amazing, is sync software with live musicianship. Not an easy take for a band. Ask ANY musician.

These guys have a full understanding of music and choose to play stuff thats a little more on the slower side, but they do a very good job of making stuff that can really get ya dancing, good live music.
