  • The financial cost of a dui for me was $100k and counting. That's with no injury or property damage. Simply the cost of error. Kinda sucks don't it. Just don't do it if you care about your job, home, family and especially yourself... It aint worth it...

  • I drink and drive all the time. DUI isn't the big danger they make it to be. It's more of a money machine for the police, because it's easy to enforce. That's why texting while driving isn't regulated.

  • If you have an outstanding ticket for drunk driving, how long does it stay on your driving record if you never pay it?

  • @MasterDonny1 It's a little more than a ticket. You go to criminal court. If convicted you will be placed on probation, assessed fines, have community service, pay probation fees have your license suspended(might be able to get a work permit)and non stop bullshit for about 8 months depending on how many duis you have. All this will be a condition of your probation and if you don't do all of it they will violate your probation and throw you in jail.Guess how I know this?May as get to like it Bud

  • @MasterDonny1 cont: Depending on where you live the charge could stay on your driving record forever.Fortunately insurance companies usually only look back 5 years for your premium adjustments. You will pay about 4 times what you were if you're lucky and can get away with PIP and liability only which means you own your car outright. The bank will insist on full coverage if it's financed.Yes, DUI's suck big time. Hopefully you young enough to bounce back and learn from this.

  • @CComb501 Okay if it stays on your driving forever, what's the longest your license can be suspended?

  • @MasterDonny1 It depends on how many dui's you have and if you cooperated with the cop. If it's the first time where I live it's 6 months and you can get a bussiness purpose only license if you took the field sobriety test and breathalizer. If you didn't do the test it will be 1 year suspension with no (legal) driving at all. There are 2 different suspensions. A criminal suspension imposed by the court and an administrative suspension imposed by the DMV

  • @CComb501: In Northern Ireland, it's impossible to get a licence for business purposes because convicted drunk drivers over there must start over as learner drivers and take the appropriate knowledge and road tests to get a full licence again (even if they didn't injure or kill someone while driving drunk). The local Driver and Vehicle Agency has more. These penalties may seem among the harshest in the Western world, but penalties for DUI in the US aren't.

  • @MasterDonny1: In Canada's Ontario province, a DUI conviction stays on the driver's record for 10 years; in the UK proper, 11 years.

  • @wainber1 So after ten years does the secretary of state have to manually remove it from their database? Or does it automatically erase itself from the database.

  • @MasterDonny1: It's likely the licence holder would have to apply to have the condition removed. A DUI conviction is still a black mark, even after it disappears from a driving record, because it's a criminal offence. In Canada, a criminal record is for life, and there are only certain offences for which a pardon can be granted. Beyond that, a DUI conviction can also restrict the opportunity to travel to certain countries for a particular period of time, depending on the country.

  • @wainber1 "even after it disappears from a driving record, because it's a criminal offence". So you're saying a criminal offense stays on your criminal record whether it has to do with driving or not. Well what about secretary of state's record alone?

  • My DUI costed me total 10,000 as the video mentioned and still after 5 years, I'm suffering and I blew under the limit .03. just driving home slowly but my car had hydroplane because of the wet pavement due to bad tires on my car. For this experience, only after the fact, getting the best DUI attorney is the key that cares about your case, even if your attorney may cost 3000.00 dollars, it's worth it.

  • Officer Williams, a true crimestopper and life saver.

  • The cost for DUI is more than monetary - it could cost you your friends, your carreer or even your life. Once you get busted, its going to be at least 10 years of agony, guaranteed!

  • for potential DUI's. NEVER EVER submit to a roadside test of ANY sort. simply state "i refuse any of your tests without my attorney present". end of story. summary is - damage control. if you've had too much to drink, know your rights, don't submit to tests or answer questions (outside of what's on your license). but at the end of the day don't drink and drive.
