Both of the current World records at Bonneville in Unlimited Diesel Truck (UDT) and Modified Diesel Truck (MDT) are held by 2-stroke Detroit Diesels. Both use DD 16V-92's. 272-MPH and 228-MPH respectively.
@kargmeister1337 Oh too bad Kenworth and Peterbilt are the exact same truck just different sheet metals! and yes they are the exact same trucks i mean just look at Paccar they build both
@kargmeister1337 and thats a personal choice i saw a comparo thing from PACCAR where they had people from the assembly lines taking four trucks one w900 one 389 one t660 and one 386 and they swapped everything over from the KW's over to their respective Peterbilt cousins and it all fit perfectly it was weird
@TheJordanGraff yeah, semi's are semi's. I just don't like the new style ones with all the rounded panels and shit. I know its to get better mpg, but its a semi, who cares. I like the old style with the box look in the front and the big ass plate for a bumber. Now thats a semi.
@kargmeister1337 you mean a conventional truck with say a texas chrome bumper? i like em too but i currently drive a International Prostar and i love it it has a Cummins ISX550
I drive Firetrucks for a living. We've some older trucks with 6V92's, and one Ladder Truck with a 8V92. Most everything else has a Detroit 60 in it.
Out of everything I've ever driven or pumped, I'd prefer a 99-ish Detroit 60 12.7 liter over everything else.
In the early 2000's, they altered the PCM programming to reduce soot when accelerating, which killed throttle response in my opinion. The truck I drive now is a 07 Detroit 60 with a variable geometry turbo and a EGR.
hook up a load to both of em and the cat will spank the old oil leaker.. by the way notice the cat was more than likely set to factory specs.. turn it up and watch it go... lol
Ahhh...love love love them old 2-stroke Detroits! Watch "3100ph Nitrous Kenworth vs. Harley Davidson". Fucking tit truck right there. Estimated at over 3,000hp from an old 8v92 with twin-turbo and a big bottle. LOL like a maniac! There's one truck that just pisses me off, even though it is pretty bad-ass..."Diesel Louie" I think they call it. It's a cool old truck chopped into a dragster, and it's fast as hell (it does wheelies!) But it has a BIG BLOCK! "Diesel Louie" runs on GAS!? WTF is that?
They have 3 terminals, Long Island, CT and Astoria. They were named mystic until the FED's seized all their books and accounts, now they are called Anchor transport.
I've got an old 67 Kenworth W925 that had an 8V92 in it. That thing was pretty awesome! But in shoved a connecting rod through the side of the block so I took the engine out and just haven't put another engine in the truck yet. I've got a good source for another 8V92 for cheap, but I don't really like the detroits as far as reliability and oil leakage goes. Sure sounds awesome though.
yeah i kno what u mean but i also read somewhere its cause of the only thats being using they only are recommened to use stright weight 40 oil tehre are people thats out 15-40 instead and if u search around thats were alot of people having problems soo i would look into a bit further and u said u have a 8v92 u should try somthing unique and put a 12v92 in it or a 12v71 if u intrested or maybe a KTA 600 cummins when u get some money comin in
@DodgeRamit02...............15w40 oil has nothing to do with lubrication..its the ash left on the exhaust valves that had Detroit worried..we ran 92's 475 hp in Utah for years on multi vis and never had a problem..
I have an old Mack Superliner with an 8v92 Detroit and that damb thing will out run my 2007 Kenworth with a c15. All this pollution shit is screwing things up. O my god we might burn out the ozone layer.....ha
If you remember the early 90's, they were bitching about global cooling and the threat of a new ice age. Wow, real rocket science at work here folks. BTW...The Detroit wins in my book.
even if theres a 8v92 in the mix,if the driver sucks balls and wont shift the way hardcore porn shoots, she wont make it, although theres that 1 kw with like 2 colors, oldschool, found out today it had 1400 hp and its been whooping ass every day it wwas there
WOO Detroit!

@patwwe yeah my old man has to drive a Kenworth at work. It breaks down all the time. He calls them Kenworthless. The old Peterbuilt never fails.
